Capítulo 20: Chapter 20: Determining Thanksgiving

A week had passed since I told Wes the truth about being a foster child. I haven’t told the kids what I told him yet, but that doesn’t matter considering I’ve been avoiding Wes ever since I told him the truth.

Jasper has been playing the messenger between Wes and me. Wes tries to talk to me and I avoid him, I give Wes the latest updates on our project through Jasper, and I pretend that I never told him the truth.

The kids deserved to know the truth.

We’re approaching the end of November. Thanksgiving is next week. I don’t want to hold this secret from the kids any longer.

“Kids! Front and center!” I shouted throughout the house.

“Uh-oh, Lucy’s playing drill sergeant,” Seth smirked, emerging from the kitchen into the living room. “I wonder who robbed the National History Museum in search of buried treasure.”
