Natasha looked at Artem and Tatiana, she found it a little weird and unfair that a woman would spar with a man, and from what she was seeing, it did not look like it would be a friendly spar at all.
"There is no difference between man or woman, boy or girl, in the end, they are just two people, and what matters is your level of technique and strength to be able to subdue your opponent" said Romanoff as Natasha looked at him, it was as if he was reading her mind.
"In the real world, your enemies will have no regard for whether you are a man or a woman, they only want one thing… and that it to see you dead, so kill them first, before they can kill you" said Romanoff as he kept his eyes forward, so that was it, that was what he believed, kill first, before you were killed.
"Now, spar" said Romanoff as Artem and Tatiana looked at each other, they looked very serious, with not a trace of happiness or joking on their faces.
Tatiana and Artem both bowed at each other as they nodded and without warning, Artem moved to take the first shot as he sent a jab straight at the right sight of Tatiana's face as Tatiana seemed to anticipate that and she blocked the jab as Artem moved away.
As he moved back in with another jab as Tatiana moved back and she moved back in, she was playing on the defensive side.
And it was clear to see why, it was like Artem was twice her size, of course she could not combat and be on par with him in strength, she was shorter than him to a great extent, and that meant that she was little compared to him, which allowed for her to easily dodge his full scale heavy attacks.
Everyone watched in silence as they waited, they knew the rules, the first to be locked down, looses, and the other wins.
Natasha still found his unfair, Tatiana was little compared to Artem, the guy looked like he could crush her, Natasha did not want to make it seem like she had no faith in women beating men in a fight, but well… this did not look promising at all, she doubted that Tatiana would be able to win.
Romanoff could see some sloppy movements, both from Artem and Tatiana's sides irrespectively, if this was to be a real fight, against other professional agents, they would have both been dead right now.
Tatiana was playing it way too defensive, while Artem was too offensive, you see these were things you would not pick up when you only sparred with a dummy, not improving your fighting skills.
It would seem liked Tatiana had got tired of being defensive as she saw an opening and she took it as she used her right leg to kick Artem in the right side of his abdomen as he was caught off guard and he held his side in pain as Tatiana took the opportunity to slide him off his feet as she kicked her leg on the ground to kick his and he fell to the ground with a thud as she quickly got on top of him and he pinned his hand behind his back as Artem was unable to move, for such a little person, she had such a strong grip, and he felt like if he tried to struggle he would end up pulling something.
"Enough" said Romanoff as he had seen enough, and Tatiana got off Artem as she stood up straight and Artem pulled himself up, he was still hurt.
"You see… that might have been a good play by Tatiana, but the both of you have serious issues to work on" said Romanoff as he looked at Artem, he would start with him first, since he was the loser.
"Artem, you are too offensive, are you a bull? And is Tatiana wearing red that you cannot control yourself to stop and think for a moment?" asked Romanoff as he scolded Artem.
"You behave like an animal, and not like someone who should be thinking before he makes any move" said Romanoff.
"You must be able to think of your own moves, as well as what your opponent will to do counter your move, while also still fighting and doing that subconsciously" said Romanoff.
"You need to improve on that Artem" said Romanoff.
"Yes Commander" said Artem as he nodded his head.
"And that goes for the rest of you as well, watch what Artem did, and learn not to do that" said Romanoff as the others nodded their heads.
"And you Tatiana" said Romanoff as he turned to look at Tatiana.
"Are you a mouse?" asked Romanoff as Tatiana shook her head.
"Or maybe it is because of your stature, but last time I checked, your name meant that you were a fairy, and not a mouse" said Romanoff as everyone stayed quiet.
"Stop being a mouse, stop scurrying away, stand your ground, if this were a real fight, with a real opponent, you would have been dead in the first 10 seconds" said Romanoff.
"Rule number one, never let your opponent have the first move, never, it is calling for death, sometimes your opponent may not be as nice as to wait for you to prepare to counter him" said Romanoff.
"You are little Tatiana, and you cannot change that, do not let your littleness be a disability, but use it as a strength, it will be hard for someone to keep track of you, if you move around, always move, you don't have much surface area to allow for a attack" said Romanoff.
"You have good counter attacks, but stop being so defensive" said Romanoff.
"Ty slyshal vse, chto ya skazal? (Did you hear everything I said?)?" asked Romanoff as he switched to Russian, because he knew that English was not their first language.
"Da komandir (Yes Commander)" said Tatiana as she nodded her head.
"Vy uvereny? (Are you sure?)" asked Romanoff as they could not risk them having a miscommunication.
"Da Komandir (Yes Commander)" said Tatiana as she nodded her head.
"Khorohshy (Good)" said Romanoff.
"Let this be a lesson to you all, do not be too offensive, because then you are an animal with no specific aim, and do not be too defensive, lest you be a little mouse of bug that will be easily crushed by your opponent, am I clear?" asked Romanoff.
"Yes Commander" said the cadets in unison.
"Yes Commander" said Natasha as she replied, she wondered how they were all always in sync, did they practice this beforehand or what??
"Good" said Romanoff.
"Now, before we go any further" said Romanoff as he turned to look at Natasha.
"Can you fight?" asked Romanoff as if her answer was no, then they had a big problem, which meant that she had so much to catch up on.
"Yes I can" said Natasha as she nodded her head and everyone looked at her.
"Which fighting style?" asked Romanoff.
"Mixed Martial Arts" said Natasha.
"Hmm, interesting MMA" said Romanoff as he was surprised but he did not show it, he was curious why Natasha would learn how to fight, but he did have to say that he was relieved that he would not have to teach her the basics.
"Which level are you?" asked Romanoff.
"Basic" replied Natasha, she considered herself basic, Benjamin said that she was good, but she only thought that he was just flattering her, besides, he was not going hard on her because she was his employer, she could tell that he was always holding back when they sparred together.
"Well we do encourage other fighting styles in the union, although our main fighting style is the Sambo" replied Romanoff as Natasha had never heard of that style before, maybe because she never asked.
"You will show a demonstration of your skills tomorrow against Kira" said Romanoff as Kira was the only one he trusted not to go too rough on Natasha.
"But for now, you may all go for lunch, and you have the afternoon off to train more, and work on what I pointed out" said Romanoff.
"I will see you early tomorrow morning, 4am sharp" said Romanoff as he had a mission this evening, so he would not be able to come back till tomorrow morning.
"You are dismissed" said Romanoff.
"Yes Commander" said the trainees in unison as Natasha said so as well, and Romanoff did not waste a second as he walked out of the gym, and as soon as he did, it seemed like everyone stopped being on edge as they all walked to the locker rooms.
"Do your eyes feel better?" asked Kira as she looked at Natasha.
"Ahh, yes a bit" said Natasha.
"Alright, if you still cannot see then, it will be better for you to wait till tomorrow to train, you cannot train, if you cannot see properly" said Kira.
"It is alright, I can train" said Natasha.
"Alright then, would you like to join us for lunch?" asked Kira.
"Are you inviting me?" asked Natasha.
"I am, you want to come or not?" asked Kira.
"Thank you, I would love to" said Natasha as she smiled.
"Alright then" said Kira as she gave a very quick smile, before it disappeared from her face and she walked to the locker rooms as Natasha decided to do the same.
