Two days later.
"Good Morning Grandfather" said Natasha as she smiled and she walked into Ernest's study, she had let herself in, but she really had to tell Ernest to stop leaving his front door unlocked, but then again the estate was very safe, which could have been why Grandfather did not bother locking his front door.
"Natasha??" asked Ernest in surprise as he put down the newspaper he was reading and he rubbed his eyes as he could not believe who he was seeing right now.
"Yes Grandfather" said Natasha as she smiled.
"How are you?" asked Natasha as she smiled and she walked closer to the armchair Ernest was sitting on.
"Oh my dear" said Ernest as he smiled as he heard her sweet voice, she was actually here.
"I am well my dear" said Ernest as he smiled and he looked at Natasha.
"And how are you my dear?" asked Ernest as he smiled.
"I could be better Grandfather" said Natasha as she smiled and she sat down on the couch right across him on the right side.
"My dear… please forgive me for what happened, I could not defend you, and you were humiliated" said Ernest as he smiled sadly.
"It's alright Grandfather, you do not have to apologize for anything" said Natasha as she smiled, she was over that drama, in the end, it was only a day that passed by just like any other.
"But I must apologize my dear, what Cornelia did to you was not fair at all, she had no respect for you at all, she disgraced you in front of the many guests there" said Ernest coldly as he was angry, he was still angry at Cornelia for what she had done, just because she was his cousin did not give her the right to humiliate his Granddaughter like that.
He was not going to talk to her again, what she did was unforgivable, he could not disown her as his cousin since she was family, but he could decide not to have any contact with her at all.
"With all honesty Grandfather, I don't really care" said Natasha honestly.
"You don't?" asked Ernest as Natasha nodded her head.
"But what about all those people who have a bad opinion of you now?" asked Ernest.
"I don't care about them at all Grandfather" said Natasha.
"Everyone is entitled to have their own thoughts, I know I am innocent, so I don't need anyone else to believe me, they can believe whatever they want, as long as I know the truth, because in the end the truth can never be changed can it?" asked Natasha as she smiled and she looked at Ernest.
"My dear… you really are mature" said Ernest as he smiled lovingly at Natasha, she was always so mature, he knew that if it was Lia that was humiliated like that, no one would hear the end of it, but Natasha, she was always different, she was always mature, she never held on to things, and neither did she count the actions of other people.
"We learn everyday don't we Grandfather?" asked Natasha as she smiled.
"Yes we do my dear, yes we do" said Ernest as he smiled, whenever Natasha was here, he always just felt peace.
"So what brings you here today my dear?" asked Ernest as he smiled.
"Ahh well I happened to be in the area, and I decided to come and see you" said Natasha as she smiled, she had not returned any of Ernest's calls, and well she had come here to find some documents she needed in her Father's house.
She decided to use the opportunity to see Ernest, since she knew what he was going to speak to her about, and well not to be rude, but the truth was that Ernest sounded rather nagging over the phone, which was why she decided to see him in person, he was calmer that way.
"Ahh I see my dear" said Ernest as he smiled.
"I am so glad that you decided to visit me today" said Ernest as he smiled and Natasha smiled.
"How is my great granddaughter?" asked Ernest as she smiled.
"Ahh Grandfather, she is as good as good can be, she is always smiling and so happy" said Natasha as she smiled.
"I am glad" said Ernest as he smiled.
"You should bring her to see me one of these days" said Ernest as he smiled.
"I will Grandfather, I will" said Natasha as she smiled, she knew there was nothing Ernest loved more than children, which was why Natasha always wondered why he had only had one child, which was Dom's father.
"You know, I was listening to the records you got me for my birthday" said Ernest as he smiled.
"Oh, that is nice Grandfather" said Natasha as she smiled.
"You know my dear, when they play, they remind me so much of her, I always see her, right there smiling" said Ernest as he smiled.
"Oh Grandfather" said Natasha as she smiled and she held Ernest's wrinkly hand in hers.
"You know, Margaret was going to come over, why don't you stay till she comes so we can have lunch together" said Ernest as he smiled.
"Oh I would love to Grandfather, but I really need to go now, I still have some other things to take care of" said Natasha as she smiled.
"Oh well, that is alright my dear" said Ernest as he smiled.
"Maybe next time" said Ernest as he smiled.
"Of course Grandfather" said Natasha as she smiled and Ernest smiled at her.
…
Natasha walked out of Ernest's house as she smiled after she had bade Goodbye to Ernest, she walked up the street as she this familiar pathway brought back so many memories, she and the rest playing, it was so wholesome, Natasha wished she could go back to those days, but you had to grow up someday didn't you??
Natasha stopped in front of the old familiar gate that was locked and she opened the gate as she walked to the front porch of her childhood home, and most of her adolescence as well as she smiled, she loved this house, she simply adored it.
Natasha looked through her pocket for the keys as she brought the keys out and she unlocked the door as she walked into the house.
The house was dark and stuffy, which made Natasha sneeze.
"Let's see if this still works" said Natasha as she walked to the right and she flicked the light switch as the lights turned on.
"What a surprise, they still work" said Natasha to herself as she smiled and she closed the door, those lightbulbs had to be some very strong ones.
Natasha looked around as she smiled, she had not been here in five years, which was very stupid of her considering that she loved this place so much, there were white cloths used to cover the furniture and appliances so that no dust would get on them.
Natasha smiled, this place brought back so many good memories, she remembered when she was little and she used to sit on that same couch and her father would help her with her homework.
Natasha turned away as she walked into the corridor and up the stairs, she had to look for some important documents that included her father's assets that would be passed to her as his only child, and that included the deed for this house as well.
Natasha turned right as she reached the end of the stairs and she walked until she reached the third door on the right as she opened the door and she switched on the lights in the room.
This was her father's room, she remembered jumping on his bed, she loved doing that, and he always worried because he thought that she would one day fall down and hurt herself.
"Dad, where would you keep those documents?" asked Natasha to herself as she was thinking and she walked to the closet.
"Are they here?" asked Natasha as she looked through his closet but she frowned when she found nothing there, except for some old receipts and his old clothes.
Natasha moved to the second side of the closet, she knew her father would never keep anything valuable on top of the closet, so it had to be here.
Natasha opened the door of the closet and she smiled, this was her mother's closet, in fact all her mothers clothes were still here, left untouched, she could not believe that her father had kept them all.
"This looks like my size" said Natasha as she laughed as she looked at a red pencil skirt as she held it in her hands, she had never gone through her mother's things before, mostly because she was young when she had died, and well for Natasha, her father was enough for her.
Natasha folded the skirt as she put in back in the closet and she jumped up as she used her hand to search the top step of the closet as she felt some papers.
"Aha, found you" said Natasha to herself as she jumped again but this time she used both of her hands to swipe the papers down as they went flying and Natasha picked them up from the floor as she found what she was looking for.
"It's all here" said Natasha as she looked through the papers.
"I thought you would have kept them in the safe Dad" said Natasha to herself as she placed all the papers on the cloth covered bed.
Natasha walked back to the closet as she looked at her mother's clothes once more, they had to be over twenty years old.
Natasha saw a pair of folded jeans that caught her eyes and she pulled it out from underneath the others clothes folded on top of it, and the clothes fell down to the ground, and so did another object as it hit the ground with a thud, which surprised Natasha.
"Hmmm, what is this?" asked Natasha as she furrowed her brows and she bent down as she picked the object up.
"It's a tape recorder?" asked Natasha in confusion as she held the little black tape recorder.
"I wonder if it still works?" asked Natasha to herself as she shook the tape recorder and she opened the back as the were no batteries, but she looked at the closet again as she saw a pack of batteries and she opened the pack as she placed two batteries in the tape recorder and she switched it on.
"it still works" said Natasha as she smiled.
"I wonder if it has any recordings" said Natasha as she pressed the play button and to her surprise it began to play.
"My dear… my dear child" started the tape recorder as it began to play.
"Mom??" asked Natasha in surprise as she heard her mother's voice?? It was actually her mother, it was, she had never heard her mother's voice before, she was very young when she died.
"I am sorry, believe me I am" said Ivanka as her voice played and Natasha felt like crying, her mother's voice sounded sweet and gentle.
"I am sorry that I will not be able to see you grow up, to cheer you on, and to love you the way you deserve, I will not be able to see you graduate, fall in love, and become a mother to a child of your own"
"I know it is selfish of me to be your mother and just leave you at a tender age, but believe me, I have no other choice"
"These passing days I know and I feel like my time is limited"
"Which is why I am leaving you this message"
"Please never have any doubt in your mind that I do not love you, because I do my child, I really do"
"I know that your father will take care of you in the best way he knows how to"
"And I am also very sad that I will leave him alone as well"
"My girl, be good, okay" said the tape recorder as the recording ended, Natasha sniffed, she did not even notice when she started to cry, she quickly wiped away her tears.
"Mom… I love you too" said Natasha as she sniffed.
Natasha smiled, she wondered how this thing was still playing, after all these years, it had to be very strong.
Natasha smiled as she noticed that there was another track on the tape recorder, and she played it.
"Zasnut'( fall asleep)" came Ivanka's very soft voice from the tape recorder as Natasha's eyes suddenly began to feel heavy.
