Capítulo 39: Troublemakers should just disappear

"Reap- Seung-ho, before we leave," Ji-ho said to the man who was ready to exit the room, "I want to raid this room."

Seung-ho turned around and raised his brows a fraction. "Unnecessary. I can provide you with everything you need."

"But this stuff is free," Ji-ho gestured to the room. "Why spend money when you can-" was there a word for stealing from a dead crook?

"Commit theft?" Seung-ho completed her sentence.

"He tried to steal my virtue," Ji-ho self righteously pointed to the corpse. "And, ah, well, I get to steal his stuff. It's a fair exchange. Very fair."

The grim reaper was silenced by her logic. "Make it quick then."

_____

When they walked out of the mansion, Seung-ho had left behind a trail of dead bodies, each one with a bullet hole perfectly positioned in the middle of their foreheads. Ji-ho had witnessed the beautiful simplicity and finesse with which the dark angel reaped human lives. Despite knowing she wasn't in any danger from him, the young woman clutched her bag of stolen goods and stayed as silent as a mouse.

"I'm afraid I didn't bring a vehicle with me," Seung-ho informed her as they stood outside the eerily silent mansion. Ji-ho had been kidnapped before noon so it was already past sunset now.

"Then how did you get here?" She asked him. It wasn't like he teleported or something, right? Right?

Ji-ho suddenly felt uprooted. The world around her blinked and she was staring at the giant refrigerator in Seung-ho's house. Right.

The man who had teleported her was already taking off the outer jacket of his elegant suit which had come out spotless even after the impromptu killing spree.

"Are we...villains?" She asked the grim reaper. Ji-ho was still trying to get the hang of breaking the law and losing her good girl image.

"Maybe. You're the one holding a large bag of stolen cocaine and laundered money," he replied with a glance at the bag that came with them. Ji-ho had insisted that she have it.

The young woman self consciously looked at the bag in her arms. "I'm taking your advice, Seung-ho," she replied righteously. "Being a mirror and all that jazz."

The reaper poured himself a tall glass of water as he listened to Ji-ho defend herself.

"This-" she smacked the bag, "-amount of cocaine will either make me very rich or- send someone to prison."

Looking like a model posing with a glass of water, the reaper canted his head at Ji-ho.

"You intend to hide it in my house," he stated.

Her intentions had been discovered just like that. Not a problem for shameless Park Ji-ho.

"If not your house then where?" She replied with an ingratiating smile.

______

"The wig, a sexy dress, and your luggage have been delivered to the room," Seung-ho told her as he handed Ji-ho a key. "Will that be all, princess Ji-ho?"

"Aigoo...don't be like that, Seung-ho-ooooo," she told him. "I know you're still annoyed about the cocaine in your kitchen but this is all for Jessica. I promise."

The things that he allowed her to get away with. The grim reaper blamed it on the fact that he had a beating human heart pumping blood inside his chest at the moment. He checked the time on his watch and glanced back up at the teenage face that was expectantly to hear him say something. Ji-ho wore her expressions like an open book. It was a matter of concern for him.

"We have a guest, it seems," he said while turning his gaze to the window. "Do not leave the room till I tell you to. Do you understand, Miss Park?" All humour had left his voice and she was facing a grim reaper who meant business.

The young woman hastily nodded. "I'll just get inside the room and stay out of your way."

_______

Ji-ho was humming as she took a warm shower. She wondered what sort of guest had arrived to put that kind of seriousness on the reaper's face. Unbeknownst to her, it was a being whose existence was the reason that the grim reaper hadn't wanted to expose his slumbering self so early on.

The guest was sitting on the sofa and facing the grim reaper with an enigmatic smile. He had a head of thick silky white hair that contrasted the reaper's dark mane. Deeply hooded golden eyes regarded the silvery ones that he hadn't seen for a few years.

"You know why I'm here."

"I do," the reaper replied.

"Good. I'm giving you one-month, little brother. Consider this your eviction notice."

"Only one month?" The reaper raised his dark brows at the man whose good looks mirrored his.

"The last time this happened, you inadvertently caused an apocalypse. Must I remind you again why you aren't allowed in the territory of the living?"

"Gabriel, you know very well that it was your fault just as much as it was mine."

"Yes, yes," the white-haired man airily replied as he glanced around. "Brother dearest, why is there cocaine in your kitchen?" His gold eyes were filled with curiosity as he stared holes into the reaper's face. "Are you doing drugs?"

Silence.

Gold eyes blinked at the silver ones.

"I'm going upstairs to see your guest."

"You will not," the reaper firmly warned him. "Meet or see my guest."

"Hmmm," Gabriel hummed as he narrowed his eyes at the dark-haired brother of his. "So secretive. I wonder why."

"I'll be gone in a month. Now leave my house and pretend I don't exist," the reaper told him. "No visits, no calls, nothing, Gabriel." Because he already had one troublemaker upstairs who was going to keep him on his toes while he remained in the realm of the living. He didn't need Gabriel adding to the chaos that followed Park Ji-ho.

"At least tell me who she is," the snowy-haired man asked.

"A contractor."

"I know that," Gabriel said as he leaned forward with suspicion in his eyes. "Why are you hiding her from me?"

"I have a sneaking suspicion that you might try and poach her," came the insincere reply. Only Gabriel could make out the lie in his brother's words. They knew each other that well.

"Let's try that again, Rael," Gabriel drawled as he drew a circle in air with his finger. "But this time, attempt to make it sound a bit more sincere-"

The reaper snapped his fingers and he watched Gabriel's eyes go wide with sudden outrage. "You-" Not even a second later, the man disappeared from Seung-ho's house, kicked out with the sofa he was sitting on.
