‘What was that?’ Malfrid closed his eyes as he lowered his head.

Lowering his head as an Alpha would mean shame but he had no problems in doing that alone. He had done it a thousand times before and there was nothing new about it.

He had been twelve years late in finding the love of his life. The first two years he had spent with patience and hope that he would find her one day but the next ten, they had messed him up.

For her to appear how she appeared — on an ordinary day — had been heaven for him. It was a mundane day that began with the longing of his mate because the other side of the bed happened to be empty as always.

Now that he had found her, Malfrid found it difficult to control himself around her given that she was within arm's reach and ready for his claim… but he couldn't.
