Meanwhile, as a battle began to rage on between several different Jaeger corps near the northern border of Erebonia...
Western Calvard.
"Shit, She ain't in her room.", A voice said, coming from behind several trees and shrubs. A sole figure emerged from the left side of a housing complex, still beyond the entrance gate. A church could be seen attached to this building further beyond. Yet from this position, the view of the left building was clear as day. The figure frowned seeing the room he observed be empty.
"Man, I was 'supposed to come back here today too. Big sis was also 'supposed to come from another direction for us to meet up here. Welp. Guess that's out the door now.", The figure continued to say, only to let out a defeated sigh while shrugging their shoulders a bit.
Shifting their eyes from the room, this figure soon gazed upon the entrance gate, which normally did not have anyone at its post.
But now, this figure spotted two figures clad in black armor and helmets, standing guard at the entrance gate to this place.
"Still, who in Gehenna's name was bright enough to hire Jaegers out of all things to storm this place? They're doing such a sloppy job too. It's already daytime. I would have already burnt this place down and taken the prize. But that's a plus for me. Gotta take these guys on, alone.", The figure said to themselves as they retorted the figures clad in black.
Upon a closer look at this figure, it was a man. He seemed to be seveenteen this year, but what placed him out of the ordinary was the squire's clothing he was wearing. He was a member of the Septian Church. His squire outfit was a one piece red robe with magenta long sleeves.
Something also rested in his hands. He was not empty-handed.
It was a crossbow, primed with a hard looking bolt, ready to shoot at a moment's decision.
Seeing the crossbow in his hands, the man couldn't help reveal a grin. Yet the next thing he did was reach into one of his robe pockets. He took out a device of sorts. On the outside it appeared very similar to a pocket watch without a lace tied to it, but it was far from one.
With a clink, the device opened up, only to reveal a special mechanism with slots inside. Esch of these slots was filled with mineral crystals of sorts, sporting different colors. The man didn't hesitate before he swiftly moved his hand, only to trace one of the lines these crystals were set to. Before long, the line lit up, and this light covered the man in an earthern glow.
The man, still hiding behind the tree, found his targets spot on. He then uttered softly.
"May these two bastards find their souls resting in the sands of Gehenna.", The figure uttered.
Without hesitation, the man shot out with his crossbow, launching a bolt out. He wasted little time to reload and launched a second one in succession. Woosh!
The first bolt found its end in the first Jaeger, who felt something pierce their neck.
"Ahhh-!?", The first Jaeger tried to respond. The second Jaeger finally saw that his fellow guard just got attacked.
"Shit. Are we under at-!?", The second Jaeger tried to yell out.
"Now now, not another word out of ya.", The man behind the tree said, only to cause the two Jaeger's eyes to turn wide in surprise, but found themselves unable to speak.
"Bang.", The man said.
As if on que, the two Jaegers felt their vocal cords stiffen, unable to make a sound. It didn't take long before their entire throat became stiff. From there, their skin started to harden into solid rock.
The man shot out two petrifying rounds, to which the two Jaegers turned into two stone statues. They now stood in place, motionlessly. Any heartbeats that pitterpattered no longer made a noise. The building complex now had a still wind wind flutter as the man took a moment to look at the two.
"I would help to feel a little for bastards like you guys, but I've lost that feeling a long time ago. If it wasn't for Ries and Big Sis, I likely would have drowned in that feeling...", The man uttered softly.
"But now. I couldn't give a shit. You dare try harming Ries. So ya gotta pay the consequences. Jaegers are always ready to face death in the face, ain't that right?", The man continued, only to walk right between the two.
Without warning, the priest lashed out his fists, one in each direction..Two muffled bangs echoed. In the next moment, the two stone statues wrre blasted into tiny bits of sand, not even leaving a solid corpse behind. Their dusty remains quickly got swept away by the wind.
Seeing the two Jaegers die, the man opened the gate. The closer he got to the entrance, he soon heard a voice lodge a complaint.
"Stop doing this!", An older voice yelled out, likely speaking to another.
"And what, you bitch? This little brat told me everything I needed to know. But I gotta ake her with me. Give and take, yeah? She'll do nicely as a shield, haha!", A scruffy man's voice said, before a couple gunshots sounded off inside the church.
The moment those gunshots sounded off, voices of scared children cried out, but it seemed like the bullets didn't strike anyone. Likely a warning shot.
Hearing this exchange, the man outside frowned. It lasted quickly too, as the man's voice sounded more distant. It was faint but a low rumbling struck the earth at this time, and the man's voice echoed further and further away, likely heading to another area.
Feeling the man no longer there, the man quickly opened the church's door, only to see an aged woman surrounded by crying children, all tied up in ropes. Further inside a church to the left area, a hidden room stood open, which lead down into a corridor beyond.
However, those inside blinked as they heard the door outside open. The aged woman also became surprised seeing a green-white haired man arrive.
"K-Kevin! You're back!", The aged woman responded in surprise.
Hearing that, the man named Kevin quickly approached the aged woman, undoing the rope that bound her.
"Are you alright, Matron? I already took care of the goons outside.", Kevin asked her. She nodded her head.
"Yes. The children and I remain unharmed, however their leader knocked Ries unconscious. He then took her and disappeared into there.", The Matron answered, only to point toward an open room that lead into an unknown corridor inside the church.
"Shit.", Kevin uttered, seeing the hidden room now open. Without hesitation, he let the Matron tend to the children while he started to chase after what he assumed to be another Jaeger with an unconscious Ries...
