"Your arrogance makes it easy for me to fool you." The voice, smooth and deep as the Void above, filled Ciprian with an intense sense of wanting.
He realized the wanting belonged to the Creature, and he shuddered.
"Arrogance? You're one to talk." Ciprian refused to turn toward his jailer, preferring to maintain his own illusion of being unperturbed by any of this. "Are you finally going to try to kill me?"
The voice turned to smoke, and the presence in his head shivered in delight.
"I would like to."
Ciprian pressed his lips together to contain the sigh that wanted to betray him. Part of him wished the enemy would just end this game already. It might be a relief to lose.
*Coward.*
The word slunk through his mind, leaving a trail of ice behind it. He wanted to deny the Creature's accusation, but found that he couldn't. What was the point?
What was the point to any of it?
The Creature got awfully quiet, didn't he? I think he's enjoying this a bit too much, and maybe he has other things on his mind.
