The sun was already pecking at the horizon when we arrived home with Lara already sleeping on my lap.

"All of you can rest now. Just come back tonight, and check on Carl." James nodded his head. 

I carried Lara inside the house and took her to our room. Ashley came in, followed by Owen, and checked her injuries.

"She's fine. Wash her up so that we can tend her wounds and bruises." Owen told me, and I picked up her limp body and took her inside the bathroom. I sat her on the tiled floor and turned on the faucet, adjusting the water to a warm temperature. I take off her bloody clothes while I wait for the tub to fill in.

Her once flawless skin is now covered with bruises, and she has a cut on her side, on her right arm as well as on her thigh. I also took off my clothes before I lifted her naked body and went inside the tub.
