Hayden’s POV
“God, you’re awful at this game.” I laughed at Eleonore’s upset face as she blew up her cheeks. The three of us went to one of the cafes Eleonore and her friends often visited, a game of UNO in hand as we did so.
We’d been playing for almost half an hour, four games in, and Eleonore has had more pick-up fours handed to her than times I’ve lost a fight. Watching as either Sabrina or Amanda started the chain was almost poetic, and I gave the final blow by adding my add-on to the pile.
Eleonore sat next to me, and the three of us knew she didn’t have any cards to add to the growing stack of pick-ups anymore. We could only watch with anticipation as she also realized this tragic fact.
Her eyes were almost tears of frustration while Amanda, Sabrina, and I were clutching our stomachs laughing. Eleonore refused to let any of us deal the cards out to her, signing something along the lines of her dignity and what was left of it.
