It had been five months since his core had hit the peak of the solid state and the only major change was that he was no longer meditating. Because of this he had more free time recently to study or parctice his control exercises.
But him being so close to seven only meant one thing. He was getting a pokemon soon! It was hard to believe that he had been in this world for almost seven years but he couldn't have asked for a better life so far.
In fact although Sabrina had said that he would have to wait till seven to get a pokemon his mom had figured out a minor loophole in that rule. You see pokemon eggs took at most two months to hatch. So if he got a pokemon egg two months before he was seven, and it hatched a little early, nobody would complain at the alliance. Only problem with that was even though he was a month away from 11 he hadn't found the right egg yet.
What was the right egg? The most talented of course. Nobody could actually see the talent of a pokemon, so normally he would just have to hope to get something good, but that's where his own talent came in.
Flashback
One Month Ago
When Sabrina had visited today she brought with her a suprise. An egg! Before he could even think about what that meant she told him.
"Here, this pokemon should be sufficently talented to become your psychic partner."
As she finished speaking he knew she wouldn't say anymore before he spoke up. Which gave him some time to think. Normally he would have happily accepted the egg, but as he looked at it he saw a blue mist flow around the egg.
Now he wasn't brain dead, and almost immediatly thought about what that was. After all he had read enough novels where the protaginists had a cheat in a similair vein. It was, most likely, the talent of the egg. And while he would have been happy to accept had he not known the qualifications of the egg, since he did, he wouldn't accept anything less than the best.
Of course, although he was curious on how he could see the talent of the egg, he was pretty sure he knew the answer. It wasn't some mystical goldfinger, instead it was his psychic talent. Whenever a psychic first reaches the solid stage they unlock what is know as their psychic talent. This is normally just a minor power and can often go undiscovered throughout a psychics life. Although it is said the more pure a psychics energy on first reaching the solid state, the better the possible talent.
Since he could see the talents of the egg he obviously wasn't going to accept anything less than the best. The talent of the pokemon affected so many things it wasn't funny. From the effects of the mastery aura, to the amount of energy that can be stored and compressed, to how strong the physical body could get.
Still he had to find an excuse to deny Sabrina. He could only hope she didn't get mad at him.
"Sorry Sabrina, but I was actually hoping to pick out my first pokemon for myself."
She stared at him for a couple seconds before replying. "Very well, but if your first pokemon is not a psychic type than I shall not be teaching you any farther."
Anf with that she left. He certainly felt bad, and he knew that if he came across a violet talented egg he would have to accept it, even if it wasn't psychic type, because of their absolute rarity.
End Flashback
Since than Sabrina had certainly been more distant, even if she continued teaching him. It made him feel bad espically because he had started to like her, and her no nonsense atitude.
Still today he was going egg shopping with his mom. In the four corners of the city there were four shops that sold eggs. There wasn't much difference between them, and they catered to all wealth demographics. Although the most amount of visitors came from civilians who had just started their last year in high school and where about to start their trainer course.
For the past month his mother and him had visited three of the four egg shops, but the highest qualified egg he saw was still blue grade. He was hoping to try his luck at this last one. As his mom and him made his way there he was amazed by how normal this city seemed. Sure there was pokemon paraphanelia all around, but aside from that only the occasional pidove reminded him what universe he was in.
One of the things he had been curious about and looked up, was the lack of pokemon on the streets. After all he always imagined trainers would want to have their pokemon by their side. That was true, but the city had banned all tamed pokemon from walking the streets. This was due to the massive range of pokemon and how hard it would be to regulate certain pokemon from walking the streets but not others.
Not to mention if a trainer trained a pokemon in a specific way that while the majority of its kind could normaly walk the streets but this one couldn't would certainly be problamatic. Also pokemon could easily get mad at other pokemon and cause destruction throughout the city just because they saw each other on the street.
As he thought of this, his mother and him had arrived at the egg shop. As he walked up to the door he felt something watching him. He didn't just ignore but there wasn't really anything he could do. From Sabrina's teaching he knew it was another psychic or a psychic type pokemon, but he had no idea their strength. He knew that he had bodygaurds protecting him from the shadows, mostly because it would be weird if he didn't, being the heir to one of the biggest conpanies on the planet, but he also wasn't sure how strong they were.
Still as he entered the store, right there on the display rack neighbored by two orange potential eggs was an egg with a shining violet mist surrounding it. His heart practically leapt into his throat and he ran over to grab it as soon as possible.
"Hehe have you finally found an egg you want pumpkin? I was worried that we would have to other cities to find you an egg. Let's go get you ringed up."
As his mother said that he couldn't help but feel loved. After all it was very difficult to travel to other cities due to the danger of the wilderness. Still as he walked towards the register he couldn't help but vibrate in excitment. After all in his hands he was holding a pokemon that had the potential to become a first ranked god. In this world god ranked pokemon were all the legendarys and mythicals. In this universe god level wasn't a joke, they could quite literaly change the face of the earth. He believed that with his training, this pokemon could reach those heights to.
He could only hope the pokemon was a psychic type egg though. As they reached the counter and the cashier went to scan the egg the cashier soon noticed something.
"This is strange. It seems we don't have this egg registered. Can you tell me where you got it?"
"We picked it up from the display rack in the front of the store" Spoke my mother.
The cashier visibly wilted at that. After all prices went up as the floors went up and he wouldn't get a big commision off a first floor pokemon. Alrhough people couldn't tell the talent of pokemon it was a general rule that stronger parents gave birth to better talented pokemon. Those eggs where then usually placed on higher floors. Although if you were unlucky you could still get a red talented egg from the top floor.
"Ah, we had a newbie stocking that rack today, sorry about that. Just so you know since it is unregistered so the label for the pokemon is most likely wrong."
"Thats fine I don't think my son even noticed."
The casheir visibly straiten upped his back after that. After all anybody who could give their son a pokemon when they was so young was certainly important.
"Well your total is $200 have a nice day"
As my mom paid and walked off I couldn't help but think pokemon were expensive. Espically if this egg was only supposed to be a red level talent. Another thing I noticed was that as mom paid for the egg, the psychic presence had disapeared. That and the unrecorded egg made me think the egg had been placed their by some being.
Sabrina had confirmed my gueses when she had met with me later that day.
"It is not an uncommon occurance for strong pokemon to find what they believe to be a suitable trainer for their children. Lance, the champion of Johto, has had three pokemon delivered to him before. You are lucky that the egg you were gifted was psychic type though. It is a solosis egg if you are curious. To establish the psychic link with the egg simply press your forehead against the egg."
I did as Sabrina told me and almost immedieatly felt the link form. It wasn't all that spetacular but it felt like there was another, dim presence in the back of his head.
"Good, you should be able to feel the nascent consciousness in the egg. Keep that egg by you side at all times to establish a stronger psychic bond. It shouls hatch in about a month and you shall be able to break through to cycle 2 when the solosis reaches the peak of novice rank."
Although he was somewhat disapointed it wasn't the classic ralts, he wasn't complaining. After all the potential to become a god wasn't worth complaining about. And so for the next month he learned everything about the solosis line that he could, while carrying the egg around. First of all was that solosis couldn't actually exercise due to its unique body type. In exchange for this though it has a very fast regenration rate, even faster if it also hae the regenerate ability. Not only that it also had very strong psychic power.
One of the major mistakes he fould that trainers of the solosis line often make is how they train their solosis. It seems they recognise the lines strong psychic ability and focus on training it as a long range mage. Only problem with that is once a dousion evolves into reuniclus it wants to go up to the enemies and puch them with their new arms than stay in the back lines. Much like him he guessed. This normally wouldn't be a big problem because reuniclus can strengthen its body with psychic energy very well, due to to its unique gell like structure. But since it hadn't been trained how to in the early stages it was never very effective
He would have to keep that in mind when training solosis. Although he planned for it to master every move it could, he would have to keep that in mind as its fighting style in the future.
During this month he also felt the presence in the back of his mind becoming more and more clear. It would even send him brief bursts of joy and happiness if he scratched the egg in a few certain ways a couple of days before it hatched.
And so a month after recieving the egg, on his seventh birthday, he stood in his room, alone. In front of him was an egg that contained a pokemon that would be his partner for many years to come. As the egg started to shake and crack, with a burst of white light it broke, and out came flying a golf ball sized sphere, right up to his face, only to rub against it. And with it, in the voice of a little girl, the excited scream of "Daddy!" resounded through the back of his mind.
Sorry not sure if I explained it earlier but protaginst had red hair and green eyes like his mother. That is why she calls him pumpkin. I'll redescribe the charcter when he is grown up.
