Everyone in the room looked over.
Henry Russell withdrew his leg that he had kicked out, and his nearly 1.9-meter tall figure stood conspicuously at the door.
He wore a black suit, and his indifferent eyes emitted a chilling glow when he saw the situation in the room.
Flow Stanley loosened his grip on Charlotte Cooper's hand, she took the opportunity to break free and ran to a safe place, with the director shielding her in front.
Curious onlookers peered into the room from outside, gasping when they saw the chaos inside.
Henry Russell's footsteps moved, his strides were not large and even slow, but the sound of his leather shoes clicking on the floor made people's hearts tremble.
Jason Lee's face showed no expression, not even the anger he should have had, but the low pressure emanating from him made everyone feel afraid.
Flow Stanley stood there, looking at the cold light in Henry's eyes, and his body swayed as he became somewhat sober from his drunkenness.
Henry Russell walked to Charlotte Cooper's side, removed his coat and draped it over her, then cleaned the dirt from her face.
With his warm palm cupping her face, Charlotte's heart settled down, she looked up into his eyes.
After tidying her hair and making her look less unkempt, Henry Russell stopped and looked at her tenderly, "Give me some time and go out first, okay?"
He then glanced at the other people in the room.
The director reacted and hurriedly said, "Yes, it's too messy here. Let's go out first. Charlotte, let me help you out first."
Everyone looked at Henry Russell, then at Flow Stanley who had not made any moves, hurriedly grabbed their belongings, and left the room, kindly closing the door behind them.
Besides the manager, there was no one left on the floor. Seeing them come out, he quickly had them move to the room across.
But no one had an appetite to eat. After comforting Charlotte for a while, they all left.
Lara Milan was about to leave with the other actors, but Charlotte suddenly raised her head and called out to her, "Lara, how are you going back?"
Lara was stunned, then looked back at Charlotte, confirming that she was talking to her, but the expression on her face was somewhat subtle, "I called my assistant, they will come and pick me up in a while."
Charlotte nodded.
Seeing that there were only the director and Charlotte left in the room, the director felt a bit awkward.
"Director, you can go too."
Charlotte told him.
She understood why he hadn't spoken up at the beginning, after all, no one wanted to offend Flow Stanley. The Stanley family was powerful with a dark background, and offending him would be like facing a semi-blacklist status in the circle.
The director rubbed his hands together awkwardly, "I'll accompany you for a while."
"No need, I'll wait here for Henry Russell."
Charlotte glanced at the doorway, from where she sat she could clearly see the entrance to the other room.
She stared intently, the door was closed, but it was as if she could see the scene inside through it.
"Then I'll get going."
The director hurriedly left.
The manager had someone make a pot of coffee for Charlotte and asked if she needed anything else, but she shook her head.
In the room, Flow Stanley saw the others were leaving and instinctively wanted to leave as well, but Henry Russell stood steadily in his way.
"Mr. Russell, I had too much to drink." He laughed nervously.
"So, being drunk allows you to act recklessly?" Henry Russell looked at him, his eyes seemingly carrying a knife.
Looking at the mess throughout the room, Flow Stanley sobered up a little, and he seemed to have done many things under the influence of alcohol just now.
However, being questioned by the younger-generation Henry, he couldn't help feeling embarrassed, "Are you going to fall out with me over an actress? Even if your father were here..."
Before he could finish speaking, Henry Russell kicked him.
His leg was fast and fierce, and Flow Stanley staggered two steps back, hitting the table, glaring at him furiously.
"A performer? The performer in your mouth is Mrs. Russell, legally and openly married into the Russell family!"
Henry Russell approached step by step, saying word by word, "Her? You even dare to touch her!"
Flow Stanley covered his chest, and before he could speak, Henry slapped him again, then grabbed a nearby chair.
His face was shrouded in dark clouds, exuding a bloodthirsty glow. He moved quickly and fiercely without any unnecessary words, and his eyes were so fierce that he seemed as if he would kill Stanley in the next second.
Flow Stanley had no chance to fight back, and could only be assaulted in this violent encounter.
He ran desperately trying to escape from Henry, pulling out his cell phone to call for help, but it was crushed under Henry's foot.
The hand he had on the door was also brutally ripped away.
Charlotte Cooper sat there quietly, waiting, listening to the ding and clatter that came from inside the room.
A hurried footsteps came from the corridor, and suddenly a pair of hands were on the door frame, and a somewhat enchanting face appeared in Charlotte Cooper's line of sight.
"Four bowls of fish, are you alright?"
Charlotte Cooper's eyelid twitched, and she picked up a bottle of mineral water and threw it at the face of the intruder, "Daniel Carter, just try calling me Four Bowls of Fish again!"
Ethan Carter caught the bottle, "I was the first to receive the news and promptly informed Henry Russell. Then I rushed over. Instead of thanking me, you even dare to attack!"
Charlotte Cooper snorted coldly, not responding.
Ethan was Henry's friend, but he didn't get along with Charlotte. This was because Ethan took up too much of Henry's time, even more than her as Mrs. Russell, which made her suspect that Ethan had some ulterior motives towards Henry.
Ethan took the bottle, twisted the cap open, and took a sip. His breathing finally eased a bit.
Looking at the closed door opposite him, he asked, "Henry Russell and Flow Stanley are in there? How long have they been in?"
"About ten minutes or so," Charlotte Cooper said anxiously, looking at the wall clock.
Ethan almost spat out the water, "Don't kill the man."
Without even screwing the cap back on, he ran to the opposite door in three steps and began to knock furiously, "Henry Russell, come out!"
Ethan thought he would have to shout many times, but after only one shout, the door opened, and Henry Russell, still in his suit, stood there, neatly dressed, looking as bright and gorgeous as ever.
Seeing Ethan, he showed no surprise, threw the white handkerchief he was using to wipe his hands on the ground, "Get someone to clean this up."
After saying that, he went out and walked away with a concerned-looking Charlotte Cooper.
Ethan leaned against the door and peeked inside.
Upon seeing the scene inside, he couldn't help but cover his eyes with his hand, "Henry Russell, I'm going to break off our friendship."
The room was a mess, and Flow Stanley lay on the ground, unconscious.
On the way, Charlotte Cooper looked at him with concern, "Is Flow Stanley alright? Will the Stanley family cause trouble for you?"
Holding her close, Henry Russell kissed her hair and reassured her, "It's fine, trust me."
Looking into his determined eyes, Charlotte Cooper breathed a sigh of relief.
Flow Stanley was soon carried onto an ambulance.
Upon hearing that Flow Stanley was in the hospital for emergency treatment, his father, Mr. Morgan, the head of the Stanley family, almost couldn't breathe.
He slammed his cane on the ground and angrily asked who had done it.
The secretary did not hesitate to tell him that it was Henry Russell who had made the move, and that the victim was still unconscious and undergoing emergency treatment in the hospital.
Mr. Morgan's white beard trembled as he glared at the secretary and ordered coldly, "Get the car ready, I want to go to the hospital. Also, inform Master Smith. I want to know what intentions his grandson had when he beat my son like this!"
Henry Russell's phone rang several times on the way, he glanced at the caller ID and hung up each time, eventually, he simply turned it off.
Seeing his slightly irritated expression, Charlotte Cooper speculated that it was related to the incident that had just happened, and she reached out to hold his hand.
"Don't worry, if I say it's okay, then it's okay." Henry Russell thought she was worried about the recent incident.
"Did I scare you by arriving late?"
He reached out to tuck the loose strands of hair behind her ear, looking at her with concern.
"I'm fine."
What Charlotte Cooper didn't say was that, had Henry Russell not shown up, she would not have let Flow Stanley get away with it.
When they got home, Henry Russell carried her to the bathroom for a bath and then went to make a call.
When Charlotte Cooper came out, she saw Henry Russell standing on the balcony. Under the light, his figure was a bit blurry but still irresistibly charming.
When Henry Russell casually glanced back and saw Charlotte Cooper standing there watching him, he said a few words into the phone and quickly walked in.
"Why didn't you wear any slippers?"
"It's not cold." Charlotte stepped her feet on the ground.
Henry Russell held her waist, bent over, slid his hand through the bend of her knee, and lifted her onto the chair next to the dressing table.
"You shouldn't crave for cold."
Charlotte Stanley made a soft sound in acknowledgment, blinking her eyes at him.
Henry Russell plugged in the hair dryer and began drying her hair.
Watching him dabbing her hair with great care, his eyes focused and serious, as if holding a treasure, Charlotte Cooper was slightly moved.
Only after drying her hair thoroughly, Henry Russell finally let go of his hand.
"I need to go to the hospital later, you should catch some sleep at home." He leaned over, his voice low and magnetic.
"Is it a bother?"
"You should believe in me, I'm a doctor."
Seeing the smile on his face, Charlotte Cooper couldn't help but smile too, relieved at last.
"I guess it's true, you should never offend a doctor."
Henry Russell touched her forehead lightly, smiled, and said fondly, "Don't worry, I won't hurt you."
Guessing that Charlotte Cooper hadn't eaten well in the evening, Henry Russell had food delivered. He watched her eat, then lay down with her for a while. Once she fell asleep, he finally got up and left.
As soon as he left, the previously sleeping person on the bed opened her eyes.
Looking at the bedside lamp that Henry Russell had specifically turned on for her, her eyes filled with tenderness.
When Henry Russell arrived at the hospital, Flow Stanley had just completed a full-body examination. Mr. Morgan, Henry Russell's father, and grandfather were all surrounded, listening to the doctor's diagnosis.
When Henry Russell approached, Mr. Morgan glared at him vengefully.
Master Smith lifted his cane and hit Henry Russell on the leg, "You wretch still found the time to come!"
Henry Russell didn't dodge, but Ethan Carter quickly stepped forward, "Master Smith, please calm down. Henry was just momentarily blinded by anger. If Flow Stanley hadn't harassed Charlotte Cooper, Henry would not have lost his temper."
Ethan then glanced at Mr. Morgan.
Although Mr. Morgan was angry, he knew that his son was the one at fault in this incident. So he turned to the doctor and changed the subject.
"What are the results of the examination?"
The doctor nodded at Henry Russell and began, "Mr. Stanley suffered some minor injuries. His head was a bit more serious, but we ruled out the possibility of concussion. He should recover in a few days with rest."
Mr. Morgan's hand that was holding the cane trembled, "I thought he was brought in for emergency rescue? His injuries are that light?"
"When he was brought in, he had already passed out. Therefore, we took emergency measures. It was only later that we found out he was just over the alcohol limit. He is fine and can be discharged tomorrow. If you're worried, you can stay a few more days in the hospital until the stitches come out."
Seeing the doctor looking at them as if they had exaggerated the situation, Mr. Morgan's face turned red.
He had grandly asked Master Smith to come, but in the end, his son barely had any injuries.
"As long as he's okay. But about tonight's incident, I hope the Stanley family can give us an explanation."
Master Smith tapped his cane not too lightly nor too heavily on the floor, "We admit it, it's our fault for hitting him. But Charlotte is the woman our Russell family invited into our household. After Flow Stanley harassed her in public, it's not just about the damage to our family's reputation, but also the psychological shadow that leaves on the young girl."
Mr. Morgan's face turned from red to pale as he spouted, "Once my son wakes up, we will certainly give you an explanation."
After sending his father and grandfather home, Ethan Carter, who was acting as the driver, looked at him admiringly.
"I clearly saw you beating him half to death, how come he's suddenly just fine?"
When faced with his friend's question, Henry Russell merely glanced at him, "You could try it too."
"Nevermind."
"Thanks for today." Henry Russell said.
If it weren't for Ethan's friend who happened to be nearby and witnessed it, he couldn't imagine what would've happened.
Ethan's eyes darkened, "Why mention such things between friends."
The next day when Charlotte Cooper arrived at the film set, most people were already there.
Seeing her arrival, everyone tacitly avoided mentioning last night's incident.
Lara Milan's assistant had bought everyone hot drinks. Seeing Charlotte Cooper, she picked up a cup of hot cocoa and walked to her.
"This is your drink I bought."
Charlotte Cooper took it, looking at Lara Milan who was behaving completely different than before, she felt somewhat surprised. However, she still smiled politely.
Ella gave up her seat after seeing her standing there.
Lara Milan took the seat without any sign of modesty and looked at Charlotte Cooper, "Are you okay?"
Charlotte Cooper was sipping her drink through the straw, and asked in confusion after hearing Lara Milan's words, "Do I not look okay?"
Lara Milan choked on her words. Before she had time to figure out a response, she heard Charlotte Cooper continue, "Thank you for yesterday."
"You're welcome, I just couldn't tolerate the way he was treating a girl."
The graciousness on her face didn't resemble the difficulty she had given Charlotte Cooper in the previous days.
Lara Milan glanced at Charlotte Cooper cautiously, "If you don't mind, can we sort out our past disagreements?"
"Sure."
Seeing her nod, a joyful expression appeared on Lara Milan's face, and she quickly took out her phone.
"In that case, can we add each other on Whatsapp?"
Charlotte Cooper had always felt that Whatsapp was very private, and she rarely added people from her social circle. Especially since Lara Milan's change in attitudes felt drastic and somewhat suspicious.
But she could also guess the reason. After all, she was a top-tier actress with the Russells backing her. She had resources and influence, so naturally no one wanted to make an enemy of her.
She apologized with a smile, "I'm sorry, I rarely use Whatsapp. Maybe I can give you my cell phone number instead."
Lara Milan's smile faded a bit, but she still opened her contacts and stored Charlotte's number.
After she left, the smile on Charlotte Cooper's face faded. Watching her departing figure, there was a hint of doubt in her eyes.
As soon as Lara Milan walked to a place with no people around, she dialed a number, "I've done the thing you asked me to do. I now have her cellphone number, which shows that she doesn't mind me. What should I do next?"
