Capítulo 5: Chapter 5: Intrigues and Revelations

Winter was settling in the frontier city, creating an aura of uncertainty in the air. Roland continued to train and prepare his elite team, observing their growing determination each day.

On a chilly afternoon, after an intense session of magical training, Roland summoned his team for a meeting in the castle. They gathered around a sturdy oak table, eager to hear what the prince had to say.

"I'm pleased with the progress all of you are making," Roland began, looking each one in the eyes. "But now it's time we discuss something crucial: winter is coming, and this year will be different."

The recruits nodded in unison, understanding the gravity of the situation. They were committed to protecting the city from the demons that plagued it during the colder months.

"This year will be decisive for our survival in this frontier city," Roland continued. "You are an elite group that I've personally prepared to keep this city safe. I hope you'll give your best."

Roland turned his gaze to two of the recruits, Baltazar and Órion, with a satisfied smile. "Baltazar and Órion, due to your excellent performance, you will be promoted as leaders of the first Witch teams."

The newly promoted witches expressed their gratitude in unison, thanking the prince for the honor bestowed upon them.

"For the rest of the team, I hope you improve your skills to the fullest, as we plan to expand our group after winter," Roland continued.

"Yes, my lord," they responded in unison, committing to put in even more effort.

With the meeting concluded, the recruits departed, leaving Roland with his own thoughts. He knew winter would be a severe test for all of them, but he had confidence in his team.

As he pondered the challenges that lay ahead, Roland focused on his next mission. An observing presence had been bothering him for some time, and he could no longer ignore it.

"Why don't you reveal yourself?" Roland said aloud, aware that he wasn't alone in the room.

In the candlelight's shadow, a figure rose, concealed by a robe and a hood that hid her face. Only the dim candlelight cast dark shadows on the walls, obscuring the person's identity.

"Who are you?" Roland questioned, his tone filled with suspicion.

"I have no name; my sisters call me Nightingale," she replied, making an elegant and fitting bow.

"First and foremost, I'd like to express my gratitude to you, His Royal Highness Roland Wimbledon," she continued.

Roland raised an eyebrow. "I appreciate your gratitude, though I don't fully understand the reason. But could you explain to me what a witch from the Witch's Association is doing in my city, or rather, in my castle?"

She let out an unexpected laugh. "His Royal Highness is direct and well-informed. However, from what I've observed of you, I shouldn't be surprised."

"I've been observing everything you've been doing," she continued. "You're like a witch who can create other witches, though you haven't yet figured out how. This serum you inject into them grants abilities and increases strength. Are you the devil himself, whom the Church preaches that witches serve?"

Roland responded with a sinister, challenging smile. "Well, if I am the devil, then you should be serving me a glass of wine and thanking me for granting you your abilities. You should also pledge your servitude."
