Success.
Dr. Lei breathed a relief after 4 hours of continuous battle inside the operation theatre. Louise almost lost her life during the operation.
The lights went out and Dr. Lei emerged while removing his surgical mask.
"The operation is a success Mr.Morgan. Your daughter is out of danger for now." He declared.
Jonas sighed with relief. "Thank you Dr. Lei."
Dr. Lei nodded. "We will place her under intensive care unit for the next 24 hours. I hope she can get through without any problems."
Then, the doors opened and a pale-faced Louise wheeled out.
Jonas slumped his shoulders and took a deep breath.
He almost lost her.
He followed the nurses to the ICU and stood outside the glass panel while watching them arranging the machines around her.
Dr. Lei watched the Jonas silently before he made up his mind and told him about the wound on Louise's stomach.
"Mr. Morgan, can you come with me to my office? I need you to tell something."
"Okay Dr. Lei." Jonas walked behind the doctor and glanced at the glass panel.
They rode the elevator silently but Dr. Lei asked first.
"Mr. Morgan, can I ask you something?"
"Go ahead Dr. Lei."
"The wound in Louise's stomach was about 7 days already and there were signs of infection, in fact..."
"What? Are you saying that Louise had the wound on her that long?" Jonas' voice rose a little bit. He was agitated.
"Yes. You didn't notice a thing Mr. Morgan?" Dr. Lei asked again.
"No. I... I was busy because of my engagement and my company has been having troubles lately..." His voice trailed off with so much guilt.
He neglected her.
" Mr. Morgan, just a piece of advice, do take care of her. She's just a child. I hope you won't mind my lack of propreity." Dr. Lei said.
"No. No. Don't worry Mr. Lei. I won't take offense. I should be glad that you told me about it." He said weakly.
His daughter has been stabbed but no one told him about it.
"We're here at my office Mr. Morgan, come in. What would you like?" Dr. Lei asked and motioned him to sit down.
Jonas took a seat as he really needed it badly.
Garnering no response, Dr. Lei poured a hot water for him. He placed the disposable cup on the table and sat on his office chair.
"Aside from the wound, I also noticed several abrasions on her and the most fatal was on her back. Her lungs punctured and bled." Dr. Lei showed the medical record.
Trembling with anger, he read the report carefully even though he couldn't understand some of the medical terms.
"Dr. Lei, are you saying that she suffered from physical abuse?" Jonas asked with much difficulty.
"Yes. I found several wounds on her body and that cannot be easily seen." Dr. Lei said.
"Thank you Dr. Lei. I will take this seriously." Jonas closed the medical report and handed it back to Dr. Lei.
