Capítulo 38: CHAPTER 37: New magic.

Hunting souls was as easy as he had suspected. He didn't need to kill a large number of people and without their living shells the spirits were a lot easier to find.

Of course, Sirin was still careful not to give the people that were hunting him now his exact location. He was the first to break the deal so nothing stood in their way of sending him back to hell, though they would most likely try to imprison him instead.

When he came back to Hendrik, he was pleased to see how his friend had already started with practicing the new magic he could now use. It was nothing mayor just some imitation of some of the energy fuelled martial art that they always practiced at the temple. Only instead of it showing with the colours of the technique, it was basically invisible. Except for Sirin who could slightly see it with his soul appraisal.

Since Hendrik was borrowing the magic from Sirin, Sirin could feel how his own energy started to drain a little. It was nothing mayor, it would have been impressive if a human could channel so much demonic magic that Sirin had to actively pay attention to it.

He decided to leave the human alone for a little and to only intervene when necessary.

Since his magic was being used anyways, it wouldn't really matter if he tried to practice with it as well. Afterall, he had yet to try the new skills that he got from the system since he had spent most of his time worrying about his wings.

The first thing he tried was inspect. He remembered how that skill was supposed to display a number of the current strength of a creature.

Since there was nothing living on the beach except for Hendrik and him he tried it on Hendrik after finding out that he couldn't use the skill on himself any more than he could see his own soul.

< Strength measure: 7 >

Since Sirin had absolutely nothing to compare this number to he had no idea of how high or low this number was. He knew that Hendrik was stronger than the average human and that this strength had only improved after making the deal with him. But overall, it didn't say a lot.

The second thing he tried was Magic creation. Since the only limits were what he could come up with and his own magic he decided to not go all out on this. Since he had to chare his magic now it wouldn't be fair if he used it al up on some random object.

Therefore, he just created a flower.

< Magic consumed: 32 >

It was nothing special, not even the entire plant, just the flower. It was a daisy, but the centre was black, and the leaves were a light blue. Because he could make whatever he wanted, why wouldn't he at the verry least mess around with the colours? Otherwise, he might as well could have looked for a normal daisy growing in the wild.

The last skill he tried was the pocket dimension. Like the last two the skill came fairly natural to him. He had already had the suspicion that the system was created just for him and how easy everything was to handle was just confirming this.

He saw the flower dissolve as he placed it in his pocket dimension. Since time should move slower there, he could bring the flower back to hell and give it to Amanda before it withered.

While he was fooling around with the skills, he couldn't help but wonder if he could use magic creation skill to change his own body. Like a potion that would let him grow an extra pair of horns or something.

But he decided against trying it. If he didn't use the right amount of magic there might be unwanted side effects, and he didn't want to deal with that.

As he pondered on this, he suddenly noticed how Henrik was wandering over the beach. Curious, Sirin approached him. "What are you doing?"

Hendrik was slightly startled by the sudden appearance of the demon; he hadn't heard him coming.

"Oh, I was going to check if there was a cave or something by the cliffs. I haven't slept all night and after what happened, I just need some rest. "

"I've already seen an opening to a cave back when I was… hunting. But wouldn't you be happier to go to one of the nearby towns? I can easily fly you over, so it isn't a big deal."

"No, I'd rather not." Henrik spoke in a tone that Sirin couldn't easily place.

Eventually they reached one of the more easily accessible caves. It wasn't that large, but it served as shelter against the rain that had started to fall right after they entered.

Hendrik had placed himself in the verry back of the cave next to a small fire. Sirin himself sat quite close to the entrance and was unconsciously wagging his tail. He was softly singing a song that he had learned from Amanda while he used his claws to carve something in the wall of the cave.

"What are you doing?" Hendrik eventually asked. Tough it wasn't that loud, the songs that Sirin was singing in a language he had never heard of, and the scraping of his claws left Hendrik unable to sleep.

Sirin shrugged. "Nothing much, really. But since I can't and don't want to stay in this world forever, I thought it might be useful for you to know how to call me back."

"Oh, alright then." Hendrik softly responded.

The cave fell silent for a moment with the exception of the rain and the scraping of Sirin's claws.

"I didn't know that you had wings." Hendrik eventually spoke to break the silence.

Sirin stopped with carving the symbols of a summoning circle in the wall. "Yea… I'm not that proud of them. The feathers are off."

"Oh? Really, I think it almost makes them look… divine? Or at the verry least less vile."

Sirin closed his eyes and clenched his fist. "Please shut up about it before I take your tongue. I need you to live, you don't necessarily need the ability to talk to do so."

After that, the cave remained silent, and Hendrik eventually fell asleep.
