Capítulo 33: CHAPTER 32: Spirit hunting.

"You need to take this more seriously."

Sirin opened his eyes and looked at Ronald who was talking down on him.

"You should keep your eyes fully closed at all times. Don't think I can't see you opening them every now and then!"

Sirin stood up and stretched his numb legs. "What's wrong with it anyways if I finish the rest of the exercises as they should?"

He had once again been going over the basics needed for cultivation. Just a moment earlier he had been trying to do the breathing exercises meant to teach him how energy should flow through his body.

Even if he weren't sure if he could use the same energy as these people used, he had already figured out that he could basically do the same thing with magic. Moving along with the flow of magic allowed him to move a lot quicker and made him more powerful. So, this wasn't a complete waste of time.

The man sighed. "When you open your eyes, you see. And when you see you start to desire. And these desires are more often than not, not good. They're a distraction on our way to wisdom and being good people overall."

"Then what if someone desires to help another? Is that bad as well?" Sirin commented.

"No of course not! I said that desires are often not good, not that they're always bad. If you want to help someone without advantage, without wanting a reward, its good."

Sirin rolled his eyes. "Yea sure. I can't see it from your perspective, but here is how I think about of it. When you help someone, purely to help someone, you just place yourself on a righteous pedestal to look down on all the other idiot running around who actually get something useful back for their efforts. You are all just a bunch of morons lying to yourselves that you are so much better than vile creatures like me."

Ronald sighed. "Look I know this must be tough for you to understand. Especially since you are an entirely different species. But I reassure you that you will be a lot happier and healthier if you stop worrying about and chasing after meaningless things."

Sirin just shrugged as he prepared to leave the room. "Don't know, don't care!"

"Were do you think you're going?" Ronald asked him just before Sirin was about to pass trough the door.

"Oh, some of the higherups thought it might be a clever idea to let me help with hunting down some spirits."

Ronald smiled. "Good luck then!" He shouted, tough Sirin was already out of sight.

A few ours later Sirin found himself in a dark forest along with Hendrik and three other students that he hadn't bothered to learn the names of.

There were some teachers scattered around the forest to respond to emergency flares that the students could light up, but for the most part they were on their own.

There were other groups of students scattered around as well, the coal was to expel as many spirits as possible and he group with the most 'kills' would win.

"So? Where should we look first?" One of the female students asked. She wore a yellow uniform and had long brown hair.

Since the entire group, except for Sirin were mostly blind now they had no idea of where to start.

Sirin sighed, he had hoped that these humans would have some way to tell were these spirits were. It was their job to hunt them after all.

He closed his eyes and stretched out his consciousness. Soon he saw the dim lights of souls shining in front of him. He retracted his consciousness and opened his eyes again. "There are some in the east. They are quite scattered, but it shouldn't take too long before we expel all of those."

The students were all quite amazed by his soul appraisal ability, tough Hendrik couldn't help but to be suspicious. He knew quite well why Sirin needed to be able to see souls after all.

They made their way over as fast as they could and saw how the first spirit was already looking at their direction.

It appeared to be female. She was hovering just so slightly above the ground, had long dark hair and completely white skin, even the eyes were black. Sirin understood now why some of the teachers had compared him to a spirit even if he was verry much alive.

It was important to note that this was a regular spirit of someone who simply didn't manage to make it to whatever afterlife there was and not an evil spirit holding on to this world through sheer hatred. As evil spirits needed an entire ceremony to cleanse them first, normal spirits only needed to be expelled.

Without much trouble the students managed to 'Kill' it with their swords. These swords all had runes on them that would nut destroy the spirit but simply guide it to wherever it should go to.

Of course, the spirit didn't let this happen easily. She couldn't have known that these people were here to actually help her and was most likely simply scared and confused.

She had circled around them, trying to scratch and bite them. touch eventually one of the students had managed to slice her head off and she basically dissolved.

Sirin watched in disappointment as this nearly perfect meal completely disappeared. But he was well aware that some of the teachers were watching. It wouldn't be a good picture to see a bone white monster eating the sentient dead people that they were supposed to help move on.

Like this they ventured trough the woods taking down every spirit that they came across. Tough there seemed to be an odd pattern. All the spirits were originally moving to the same point in the woods. And yet none of them were there.
