Capítulo 10: CHAPTER 10: Little human.

He made his way to the creature as quickly as he could. Eventually he saw it

At this point it looked exactly like a human, only he seemed empty. Sirin carefully circled around the creature. He couldn't understand how it was still alive with such a weak and slow heartbeat.

Not knowing what to do with it Sirin just approached it from behind and bit it. The creature barely reacted and even managed to push Sirin off of him.

Sirin had been certain that he had injected his venom, yet the creature was still moving towards him with jerky movements. Sirin had seen humans, this was not how they were supposed to move. It was almost as if this one was controlled like a puppet.

The creature stared at him with its hollow eyes if you could even call them that. It was just two empty orbs of milk white unmoving in their sockets.

It opened its mouth. The jaw was almost dislocated by the sudden movement.

As the thing rushed towards with an unnatural speed Sirin hit the creature with his tail much like how the first Naga he killed did to him. But what he didn't expect was that the humanoid was now clinging to his tail trying to break through the scales.

Confused he used this opportunity to slam the creature against a wall. Was it not thinking? Why was it trying to blindly attack his scaled snake half when his upper body was only protected by cloth and skin?

The spine of the creature snapped and lift it unable to move its legs. The impact against the wall had forced it to let go of him. Sirin swiftly retreated to see what the creature would do. And he wasn't disappointed.

With broken bones the thing dragged itself towards him uncaring about the pain if it even felt it in the first place. Its bony fingers desperately tried to find cracks in the stone path for grip. How had this thing not realised that it couldn't win this fight?

Realising that this thing wouldn't do anything else than blindly attack despite what he did, Sirin wrapped his body around him and started to crush him.

Eventually the heartbeat and the dry, wheezing breaths of the creature stopped. But Sirin wasn't sure if it was because the organs were too damaged to preform such tasks or if it was really dead. This was because he didn't see a soul.

He let go of the thing and slithered away. Then he changed back into his original form. He was certain that like this he would be able to see souls just in case he just couldn't as a Naga. But still there was nothing. This creature just didn't have a soul.

He sighed and changed back into a Naga, he had used up all his venom on this thing and it didn't even work. And he could only make new in his Naga form, so he had to remain like this for a while if he wanted to try it again on some other creature.

Suddenly a door creaked open behind him. The warm yellow lights shone trough the opening upon the streets.

"Hello?" A young voice called out. "Is anyone there?"

Sirin turned around to see a little human standing in the door opening holding a lit candle. Was this a human's offspring? It kind of looked like the 'child' Amanda was always carrying, only a bit bigger.

Sirin curiously slithered over to the small human. A few days ago, in his base form he would have been just a little taller than this creature. But now he would be twice as high.

"Hello there little one." He softly said as he slowly came closer. He didn't want to scare the small human off. After all it was his first time seeing a living child this close.

"Are you one of the hunters?" She asked in a nearly trembling voice. "My mom said that they don't always look human."

Sirin softly chuckled. "No, I'm not one of the hunters. But I am here to do a similar job."

"Oh, in that case. Do you think that you can stay close by? My dad is sick, and my mom often doesn't come home at night. And I'm scared."

"Of course, I can little human."

Sirin wondered if the soul of one of these smaller humans would taste different than the full-grown ones. Only, he had to protect this town, not eating the civilians himself was naturally a part of that.

"If…" She hesitated for a moment. "If you promise not to eat me, or my dad. Then could you come inside? I- I can give you something to eat!"

Sirin tilted his head. This little human was inviting him in? She didn't even know what he was. And under other circumstances he probably would have attacked her.

"Sure." He said with a wide grin. Maybe it was not so bad to miss out on the soul of the little human. because now he would be able to taste human foods and see what the inside of a building looked like that actually had humans living in them!

She opened the door a little further and stepped aside.

As Sirin wanted to go inside he realised something. This house was too small for the snake part of his body. If he wanted to go on like this, he would have to twist and turn around every object.

Slightly annoyed he turned back to his original form. Making more venom would have to wait.

The little girl was staring with wide eyes as Sirin transformed.

"What are you?" she asked, eyes still fixed on Sirin.

He just shrugged. "Make your own assumptions. I won't tell you." He playfully told her.

She nodded and led him to the living room.

Sirin truly hoped that he wouldn't get much taller in his base form. He already had to make sure that he wouldn't hit his head against the ceiling. And if he had to interact with humans more often to make deals, then he probably would enter smaller human buildings like this as well.

But this uncomfortable situation didn't stop him from being amazed by the human's home.
