Capítulo 557: Chapter 557: Hermione's Confidence and Argument

"Ron didn't put his name in the Goblet of Fire!" said Hermione.

"Not necessarily. He probably put his name in the Goblet of Fire last night, so no one would find out, didn't he?!"

"Then how did he do it?!" said Hermione sharply, glaring at Harry angrily. "He couldn't get through Dumbledore's magic line."

"He may have come up with Ivan's method a while ago, but it's hard to tell," Harry said hesitantly, avoiding Hermione's gaze.

Although reason told him that he should trust Ron, he still felt somewhat uneasy about the matter.

The idea of Ron becoming a champion gave him a sense of inexplicable betrayal.

"I don't think Ron is that smart. Ivan is right. It's a conspiracy. We have to help him explain it." said Hermione quickly.

She made up her mind to pick up Ivan and Harry and run to the teachers' table.

Professor Moody, who Caresius was pretending to be, was still there, and it was their only chance to help Ron.

Although Hermione often argued with Ron, she was the first to come to his aid at a critical moment.

To prove her friend's innocence, Hermione was one who proceeded without hesitation.

"Professor, Ron has been with us all day. He can't have put his name in the Goblet of Fire." Hermione said anxiously.

Moody took out his flask and took another sip. His normal eye was fixed on Hermione, but his magical eye was strongly fixed on Ivan.

Judging by the look on his face, he didn't seem to care that Ron had become a champion.

"Miss Granger, understand that your name came out of the Goblet of Fire, which means that Mr. Weasley signed a contract with him. It is a very strong magical contract; no one could break it. He is obligated to compete in the tournament." said Moody coolly.

"But Professor, Ron didn't put his name on it!"

"That's not the point; you just have to know..."

"Professor, it's obvious that this is a conspiracy, someone is trying to frame Ron!" Ivan interrupted Moody and winked at him. "I think we should go in and stop it, or at least persuade everyone to accept this reality."

Meeting Ivan's eyes, Moody nodded reluctantly and his movement was stiff.

"All right, all right, you three come in with me and help Mr. Weasley prove his innocence!" he said gruffly.

Ivan, Harry and Hermione followed Moody to the door of the room.

They entered the room where Dumbledore was questioning Ron and a debate was taking place.

Ron had completely lost his mind and could not speak a single complete sentence.

Snape, standing on the far side, turned his head and frowned as he saw the four of them.

Seeing Moody, he said nothing, only becoming more indignant.

Moody wanted to voice his opinion directly, but Ivan gave him a gentle tug and motioned for him to listen first.

"Clearly there's been a mistake," by the fire, Fleur lifted her chin and glared at Ron. She said haughtily, "He can't compete, he's too young. I know there's a strong young man at Hogwarts, but it's obviously not him."

"Well...that's surprising," Ludo Bagman said, rubbing his smooth chin and smiling at Ron, as if he had some plan. "But, as you know, the age restriction was only imposed this year as an additional security measure. And since his name has come out of the cup.... I mean, I don't think there can be any circumvention at this point... It's in the regulations, it's mandated.... Ron will have to do the best he can..."

"This is ridiculous, ridiculous!" Madame Maxime interrupted Bagman's words. The top of her beautiful head brushed the candle-filled candelabra, and her gigantic black satin chest puffed out. She said angrily, "Dumbledore, what is the meaning of this? I thought we made it clear in the rules that this sort of thing was to be avoided. We specifically stressed that underage young wizards could not compete in the tournament, but Hogwarts still has one."

"I'd like to know too, Dumbledore," Professor Karkaroff said. He wore a steely smile and his blue eyes were like shards of ice. "Two Hogwarts champions? I don't remember anyone telling me that the host school can have two champions? Or did I just not read the rules carefully enough!"

He let out a short, unpleasant laugh.

"C'est impossible!" said Madame Maxime, whose huge hand with many superb opals was resting on Fleur's shoulder. "Last time it was Ivan Mason, this time it's him. Hogwarts has repeatedly provoked Beauxbatons. He has some explaining to do."

"Durmstrang also needs an explanation. We were under the impression that their Age Line would keep out the younger contestants, Dumbledore," Karkaroff said, his smile steely, though his eyes were colder than ever. "Otherwise, we would, of course, have brought in a wider selection of candidates from our own schools."

"Please don't worry, we'll explain!" said Dumbledore quietly, turning to look at Ron, who was startled, "Mr. Weasley, did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire?"

"No!" Ron was quick to shake his head.

"Then did you ask an older student to put it in the Goblet of Fire for you?" continued Dumbledore.

"No, no!" Ron hesitated before stammering.

"You're lying!" cried Madame Maxime.

"I am not lying. I learned this method from Ivan, but I, I didn't stand a chance!" Ron gasped and said, "We went to see Hagrid. I didn't put my name in the Goblet of Fire."

"Ivan?!" they were all stunned, "Ivan Mason?!"

Then, their eyes all turned to Ivan, who had just walked in.

Ivan looked at them expressionlessly, and his eyes finally landed on Barty Crouch, standing by the fire.

He was standing with his arms crossed, his shadow drawn by the fire.

"Dumbledore, I remember you saying your magic was infallible." Karkaroff sneered. "Now it was deciphered by a child; really interesting."

"The matter is already obvious. It's no one's fault but Weasley and Mason's, Karkaroff," Snape said quietly. His black eyes were alight with malice. "Weasley, empty-headed, wouldn't have thought of it, but our Mr. Smarty-pants is different. He's always been clever, a little too clever. Ever since he got here, he's been breaking the school rules. I think our Savior must have been involved in this, but he wasn't selected."

"No, we didn't put our names in the Goblet of Fire!" said Harry loudly, looking at Snape angrily.

"It's hard to tell. You know the way, don't you? Let me see it."

"Severus!" said Dumbledore firmly.

Snape fell silent, though his eyes still glowed malevolently through his curtain of greasy black hair.
