Capítulo 544: Chapter 544: Beauxbatons

"God, what is that?"

"It's a dragon!" shrieked one of the freshmen, completely losing her mind.

"Don't be stupid, it's a flying house!" said Dennis.

His guess might be closer, but more accurately, it was a horse-drawn carriage.

Ivan had seen those Abraxan horses before when he visited Beauxbatons.

They were the size of an elephant each, all palomino, pale golden in color, with beautiful silver manes and red eyes. They usually lived around rivers in the forests near Beauxbatons. They were very rare magical creatures.

The winged horse is known to be one of the branches of the extinct fantastical species Pegasus. It is a hybrid of Pegasus and Giant Horse.

Possibly due to the mixed blood, the winged horse's breeding success rate is very low, and its growth cycle is slow.

The Abraxan eats a large amount of food and is extremely delicate. They have extremely high food requirements and do not eat ordinary forage.

If they are not well cared for, they become sick and die.

Some have calculated that the annual expenses of a magical horse are roughly equivalent to the expenses of a hundred wizarding families.

Probably only Beauxbatons and Nicolas Flamel, who regarded gold as mere stone, could afford so many abraxans.

Of course, the benefits of having an Abraxan are also very obvious. In fact, the Abraxan is probably the magical creature most similar to the Pegasus.

In many legends, the sacred Pegasus is the mount of the gods, which has great significance.

Due to various characteristics, Pegasus was used as a mount in ancient times, when the ancient sorcerers still existed.

Later, due to over-trapping, destruction of its habitat and other reasons, the Pegasus gradually disappeared and became extinct.

Now, all the young wizards raised their heads and were surprised to see the gigantic black shape flying over the treetops of the Forbidden Forest, and when the lights shining from the castle windows caught up with it, they saw a gigantic powder blue carriage, soaring towards them.

It was the size of a large house, pulled through the air by a dozen winged horses.

"I'm not wrong, am I?" A seventh grader rubbed his eyes and exclaimed, "They're pegasus. They're magical creatures that have been extinct for thousands of years. I've seen it in the book."

Because he was too excited, his voice trembled.

Hearing what he said, the young wizards around looked at the huge carriage even more strangely.

The carriage hovered over Hogwarts castle and seemed to be showing off.

A moment later, the carriage came lower and lower, approaching the ground at tremendous speed, and the first three rows of students fell back and stuck tightly together to make room for the huge carriage.

Then, with a mammoth clatter, the horses' hooves, bigger than dinner plates, hit the ground.

In the blink of an eye, the carriage landed as well, bouncing on its huge wheels, as the golden horses shook their huge heads and rolled their big, red, fiery eyes.

The door slowly opened, and a boy dressed in the pale blue Beauxbatons robes leapt down from the carriage. He leaned forward, fumbled a moment with something on the carriage floor, and unfolded a set of golden steps.

The boy stepped back respectfully, and then they all saw a shiny black high-heeled shoe emerging from inside the carriage. It was Madame Maxime, whose shoes were the size of a child's sled.

Everyone at Hogwarts was in awe. They had never seen such a large woman in their lives.

Some even gasped.

In their opinion, Madame Maxime was as big as Hagrid.

But maybe it was because they were all used to Hagrid, this woman seemed even more abnormally large.

At that moment, Madame Maxime stood at the foot of the steps, looking out at the waiting crowd with wide eyes.

Stepping into the light that flooded the hall, she was revealed to have a handsome face, with olive skin, large, black, liquid-looking eyes, and a rather beaky nose. She wore her hair pulled back in a glossy lock at the base of the nape of her neck.

She was dressed from head to toe in black satin, and many magnificent opals glittered at her throat and on her thick fingers.

As the young wizards looked on, Dumbledore began to applaud. The students, following his lead, broke into applause as well, many of them standing on tiptoe, the better to look at Madame Maxime.

Her face relaxed into a friendly smile and she stepped forward towards Dumbledore, extending a glowing hand. Dumbledore, though tall, barely had to bend down to kiss her.

"My dear Madame Maxime!" he said with a smile. "Welcome to Hogwarts."

"Dumbledore!" Madame Maxime replied quietly. "It's been several months since I've seen you. I have heard some things. I hope you are well."

"In excellent shape, thank you," Dumbledore said.

"My pupils," Madame Maxime said, carelessly waving one of her huge hands behind her.

At that moment, everyone noticed that a dozen boys and girls had emerged from the carriage and were now standing behind Madame Maxime in her huge shadow.

From the looks of them, they were in their late teens. They were shivering, which was not surprising, as their robes appeared to be made of fine silk.

In addition, none wore cloaks and most of the girls had wrapped their heads in scarves and shawls.

Only Gabrielle did not, her little head looking excitedly around her, and whispering in French to Fleur at her side.

When they got out of the carriage, Ivan saw the little girl.

She seemed to be a little overexcited, and had no girlish reserve.

Ivan heard many boys beside him talk about Gabrielle's beauty.

Although she was not yet grown, her Veela Blood was enough to attract the attention of the students.

If Fleur next to her pulled her scarf down from her face, she would probably cause a sensation all over Hogwarts.

Gabrielle's bright eyes swam through the crowd, and then she spotted Ivan.

The girl's face showed an angelic smile and she waved to Ivan.

All the young wizards at Hogwarts turned their heads and Ivan suddenly became the center of attention.

They were all very curious to know how he had met this French girl.

The other Beauxbatons students were also looking at Ivan with a clear look of vigilance and contempt on their faces.
