Capítulo 384: Chapter 384: Prisoners of Azkaban

In the fog, the three of them continued to move along the dangerous plank road, and with the endless sound of the waves, the road seemed to have no end.

This was not only physical, but the same was true in the spiritual world.

Ivan felt as if he was on a road that had no end.

Negative emotions such as depression, fear and despair came with the pressure of the fog, creeping into his souls.

He remembered that he had met horrible monsters with holes in their heads in the centaur colony before, and the illusions they created could also make people lose themselves in them.

Back then, what awaited him was the monster's mouth full of fangs, and by the time he found a way out, he had no time to rejoice, for his head was about to become food for the monster, were it not for Okegiga saving him.

Would it be the same now? would a monster be waiting for them? maybe they weren't going to Azkaban, maybe they were going to die!

Ivan took a deep breath to sober up, but the cold mist mixed with the smell of Dementors made him feel very nauseous.

What should he say to dispel the rising panic inside him?

"You can't see anything here. What does the main building of Azkaban look like?" Ivan felt as if his voice didn't belong to him. It sounded from far away.

"It's a huge castle like the main building of Hogwarts!" Dumbledore's voice drifted from the front. "There are theories that Salazar Slytherin built Azkaban and mimicked Hogwarts castle."

There was another moment of silence. Just as Ivan wanted to say more, he suddenly heard a woman's voice singing in the fog. He didn't know where it came from.

The song was very beautiful. However, it had a hint of sadness hidden within it.

Ivan stopped and listened in awe. He had never heard such a beautiful song before. There was a thought in his mind; he wanted to just stand there and keep listening to it.

He lost track of time; not knowing if he was there for seconds or centuries!

Ivan suddenly felt pain in his right leg!

He woke up and saw the huge black dog that Sirius had become tugging at his pants and dragging him forward.

pants and dragging him forward.

"What is this song?" Ivan muttered.

"They're mermaids. They're the only creatures here that aren't afraid of Dementors." Dumbledore explained, "In ancient times, Sirens lay on the reefs of the deep sea, seducing sailors by singing songs and sinking ships on the rocks, feeding on the corpses of crew members."

Ivan was reminded of this horrible magical creature he had read about in books before.

The ugly mermaids make beautiful songs to lure passing ships. Ivan used to rely on imagination before, but today he really saw it.

The way to deal with Merpeople is also very simple - just cover your ears! They have almost no attack power, with fish-like bodies.

At the end of the plank path, a Dementor in a black cloak appeared before them.

Its body smelled rotten, and its scaly palms were slowly spreading.

It stank badly, but because of the Patronus charm, it couldn't absorb anything.

This made the Dementor feel very unsatisfied. He rushed forward with a scream. His tattered robe was dragged back like a black mist, making a loud shudder.

Almost at the same time, Dumbledore's Patronus glanced forward.

The Dementor retreated, and seemed to recognize Dumbledore.

Under the gaze of the old wizard's cold, blue eyes, Ivan clearly sensed that the Dementor was the one who was afraid!

"We have permission from the Ministry of Magic to visit Pettigrew!" Dumbledore said calmly, no emotion in his voice.

The Dementors slowly backed away and finally disappeared into the endless fog.

"Come on, they let us in!" said Dumbledore.

They entered the building in front of them. It was dark inside.

Obviously, the Dementors didn't need torches or anything like that, and they had no intention of setting this up for the prisoners.

The room temperature had dropped a bit. Even with the help of the Patronus charm, Ivan couldn't help but feel cold.

It was like stepping into the mouth of a monster choosing the people it would send to hell.

The faint fluorescence at the end of his wand flickered in the darkness and looked like it could be extinguished at any moment.

There were no guards on the first floor, and the rooms on either side of the corridor became cells.

Through the railings, Ivan saw that there were many strange-looking creatures in them, but none of them were human wizards.

In one huge room, there were seven trolls sitting side by side.

They sat on the floor with glazed eyes, staring at the ceiling with wide eyes, without the slightest anger, ignoring Ivan and the others passing by.

Only the movement of their chests as they breathed proved that they were still alive.

"As one of the most evil creatures on earth, Dementors feed on peace, hope and happiness in the air around them." Dumbledore paused and said slowly, "There are too many Dementors in Azkaban. They are scattered all over the island and their numbers are increasing. The prisoners held here alone cannot satisfy them. The Ministry of Magic has to regularly transport other creatures to feed these monsters."

Looking at the trolls in front of him, Ivan felt saddened by his fate.

When he is too close to the Dementors, any good feelings, any happy memories are absorbed by them.

They have gathered here for a long time, like parasites, to feed on the happiness of other creatures in the building and live off them.

They sucked their lives bit by bit, and the final fate of these prisoners was to become walking corpses, free of soul and evil, with only fear following them like a shadow.

Moving on, all the creatures imprisoned in the surrounding rooms were like this.

The first, second and first floor were similar and filled with a large number of non-human magical creatures.

None of them were angry. There was only desperation and a thirst for death.

Ivan felt that, if he was confined here for just one day, he would go mad, let alone 10 years!

On the third floor, human wizards began to appear in the cells on both sides of the corridor.

Like the monsters below, some of them stared helplessly at the one narrow window in the wall, the only light in the darkness.

Occasionally, Dementors flew by in groups in the fog outside.

The rest of the people were lying on rusty iron beds to force themselves to sleep, as if they could escape everything in front of them if they fell asleep.

But every now and then there was a scream. It was easy to imagine that they would only have nightmares waiting for them.
