Capítulo 11: making my way to the forest
After parting ways with old Jack, I slowly made my way through the market. There were people of all different shapes and sizes. All of them yelling trying to get others attention to sell their wares. Some yelling louder than others, some trying to persuade others using compliments, and the rest just being noisy and annoying.
"come buy some soft and tender boar meat"
"pigs for sale. pigs for sale."
you young man look like you could use a bath could I offer you some... "
some of these vendors were ridiculous.
I already knew what I was gonna buy. So in an attempt to avoid the hustle and bustle of the crowd I made my way towards the shop selling kitchen wares. It was a dingy looking shop with an equally ugly man behind it. A quick scan of the area showed a wide array of cooking utensils. big and small, new and old. I had to wonder if this sketchy looking man had snuck into peoples homes to aquire the large variety of utensils to have such a wide collection of differing quality. I quickly put away such thoughts since regardless of the outcome it was none of my business. Since I didn't want to waste my whole day looking through all the products, I made some inquiries directly to the seller.
"hello what can I help you with"
the man was short and stocky with a missing tooth and in need of some basic hygiene. He looked a little shady but he sounded nice enough. So I didn't hold much reservation and directly asked for what I needed.
" I am looking for some basic utensils and cook ware that I can use to make meals out in the woods."
he gave a derisive snort as if laughing at my audacity to cook in an area filled with hungry predators. it was obvious what he thought about me through the mockery in his eyes. I knew he was making fun of my small stature but I ignored him.
beautiful people have no need to concern themselves with the petty views of others; especially ugly fat middle aged men with poor hygiene.
" are you sure you want to buy that little missy"
a tick mark quickly formed on my head and I almost reached out to the nearest pan to bash his head in for mistakingme for a girl.
"yes that is all I need" I kept on my polite persona while internally I ranted about his ugly face matching his shi*y personality.
After haggling for some time I finished paying and parted ways from the stall. I didn't forget to lay over some petty Genjutsus to make the man appear even more ugly than he already was. they would at most last a few days but that was enough to placate me so I walked away with a smile on my face. that smile was enough to confuse others as no one walks away from a conversation with that decrepit old man with a smile on their face. while those who saw my beautiful smile and knew I had just finished talking to the old man pondered over what happened, the rest of the crowd who had not seen me leave his stall were instantly smitten by my angelic appearance.
Making my way outside the city I stopped to ponder which direction I had to go in order to get to the spirit forest. After looking around for a while I finally came across a guard. He looked nice enough but he had an arrogant personality. When I asked him for directions he sneered before pointing down one of the dirty streets leading out and away from the city.
I rolled my eyes before quickly making my way down the path he mentioned. One step became two, then two became three and before I knew it I was running down the road towards my destination. With all the training I've been putting into my speed getting to the spirit forest didn't take more than a couple of minutes using shunpos.
Once I was outside the spirit forest I quickly made my way through the crowd. There were people shouting left and right trying to recruit others. some shouting that they needed someone to help Hunt a spirit beast. Others yelling that they were selling their assistance in hunting spirit beast as as long as the other party provided a warrant to enter the spirit forest.
There were four guards stationed at the entrance of the spirit forest. One tall and robust, one short and stubby, and two skinny guys that looked weak. I'm sure there were other guards patrolling the perimeter of the forest. Since I didn't want to go through the trouble of jumping over the high wall I quickly devised a strategy to enter unseen. This strategy was gonna rely completely on the combination of the abilities passed on to me from my predecessors and the ability of my dojutsu to Simultaneously cast an illusion and diminish my presence. If I were to do this right I would not only be able to get in but I would have completed my first self appointed mission as as a ninja. I obviously couldn't fail. Beautiful people just have a way of succeeding where others can't.
I quickly bypassed all the people milling about outside the gate. Once i made it to the right side of the wall I cast a simple illusion to keep me hidden. I used the ability of my Dojutsu to diminish my presence. A subtle illusion placed over the guards and with a quick shunpo I was able to get in.
I didn't really have any means to get the warrant other than stealing it, so instead of wasting my time stealing it I'd rather just sneak in. Once inside I felt around for the presences of the spirit beast. It wasn't too difficult because most of the low level beasts don't have perfect control over their spirit energy and thus the leakage will alert others to their positioning. I had already planned out how I was gonna acquire my first spirit ring and all that was left to do was hunt.
