Capítulo 7: 007 Tenderness

Traductor: 549690339

Upon receiving the order, Olivia Taylor immediately ran to the ancestral hall, pushing open the old wooden door forcefully. She saw Tobias Perkins kneeling motionlessly before the ancestral tablets, his white shirt soaked with cold sweat and streaked with a few traces of blood.

She sent away the manager and went forward to help him up, "Tobias, get up, Father won't hold it against you anymore."

However, Tobias faintly brushed her hand off. His figure wavered for a moment, but he still stood up on his own, coldly saying, "Who told you to plead for me? If he has the guts, let him beat me to death!"

"Let's go home and talk about it." Olivia stubbornly held onto his arm. She looked like she was coquettishly clinging onto him, but in reality, she was helping him bear some weight.

Tobias couldn't cause a scene in front of so many people, so he just left with her, face cold.

Upon returning home, Olivia took out the first aid kit she had used just last night. It seemed like she'd been using it more and more lately.

Neither of them spoke on the way back. After returning, Tobias sat on the sofa without saying a word. Olivia thought he had been seriously beaten and her heart ached for him.

She took it upon herself to unbutton his shirt and, seeing his muscular back covered in red and swollen marks, her nose turned sour. Taking the ointment, she carefully applied it to his wounds.

"Don't be mad at me yet; wait until I finish applying the medicine for you."

Tobias had originally planned to scold her, but hearing her voice on the verge of tears, he realized that she was crying for his sake, even if he were heartless.

Moreover, Olivia, who would never cry when she herself was injured, was willing to cry for him.

His heart felt like it was being tightly squeezed, as he whispered, "Olivia, aren't you angry?"

Without stopping her movements, Olivia replied, "You said nothing happened between you two. As long as you say it, I'll believe you."

At times, Tobias felt helpless towards her unwavering persistence. He sighed, "There's really no way with you."

Hearing the tenderness in his tone, Olivia finally let out her suppressed grievances, gently embracing him from behind like a spoiled kitten, "Tobias, can you not bring other women back to our home? I don't like it."

Tobias turned to look at her beautiful face but said nothing, only fiercely kissing her pale lips.

It had been almost two months since they last touched. The sudden intimacy gave Olivia a sense of satisfaction from the depths of her heart. She couldn't help but hug his waist tighter, trying to absorb more of his presence.

Even Tobias noticed that something was off about her. When he tried to push her away, she buried her head deeply in his chest, cooing softly, "Tobias, hold me..."

Tobias' throat tightened, and the two months of distance made him feel even hotter. He finally hugged her tightly.

...

When Olivia opened her eyes again, the space beside her was empty. She reached out and touched the cold sheets, realizing that Tobias had risen a long time ago.

She sat up, feeling tired, and went downstairs to find Tobias already dressed and ready to go to the company. His face was as cold and indifferent as ever, completely different from the passionate and tender man from the night before.

"Morning," Olivia yawned, sitting down at the dining table, preparing to eat breakfast and then head to the laboratory.

While looking through the files in his bag, Tobias lightly replied, "Morning."

The two acted as if nothing had happened the previous day, and everything was back on track. But they had no idea when their life would ever change.

Olivia ate her bread, the taste feeling like chewing wax, as she stared blankly ahead in a daze. It wasn't until Tobias reached out his hand that she noticed the white pill in his palm.

"Take it."

His simple sentence made Olivia understand what kind of medicine it was.

"Tobias, I've been married for over three years, and Father wants a grandson. He's mentioned this to me repeatedly. Maybe we could..." she tentatively suggested.

"I don't want a child." From his cold tone, she knew that Tobias was displeased.

She wanted to ask if it was because he didn't want children, or simply didn't want her to bear his child.

But she was afraid of angering him, causing their newly reconciled relationship to crumble once again.

Olivia took the pill and washed it down with a cup of water. Tobias' face finally softened slightly.

She helped him put on his suit jacket, as any wife would—a light kiss on his face followed by a gentle whisper, "Come back early."

"Mmhmm," Tobias replied. When he walked out the door, he suddenly remembered something and turned back to Olivia, "Oh, right. Samantha Collins' assistant just submitted a resignation. She's alone in the hospital, so you should go take care of her for a few days. You're responsible for this, so you should make up for it."
