However, as he had managed to get out of the way of Ivan's finishing move, the injuries he sustained weren't too serious. So Ivan's previous preparations were but in vain.

Ivan on the other hand looked like glass that could shatter at any moment. His shield and armour had cracks and chips all over their surface and his spear had already snapped in half and was taking time to reform.

Immediately after dodging Ivan's finishing move, Varian pretty much blitzed him with a wave of electricity so large that Ivan would have turned into a crystalline corpse if he hadn't used his knight mode earlier.

Still though, he wasn't really disappointed by the result and was actually quite satisfied.
