"I have a demigod in my hands, such blessing... and power" she mused, smooching the child but he remained crying.

Vlad frowned. "Where are you going with this?"

"This child will be a blessing to my people, we need not serve Vampires anymore. He will be our King and lead us to liberation"

"You fool! He is the gateway to the Holy Library, a tethered soul chosen by Basker himself, he is more than a blessing, he's my salvation!"

"I will keep him, the demigod is mine"

"Well if you wanted a demigod you should have taken the other two, fool!"

She gasped because in a blur he was before her. "Your magic needn't sustain me any longer, I have ALL I need"

Her eyes widened in realization but it was too late. One of the black tree branches impaled her against one of its barks, through her chest.
