It was the first time in my life that I worked.
Of course, it wasn't my dream job, but it was very relaxing and gave me a pleasant feeling. I felt useful and I was appreciated for my efforts.
In the morning, I helped Marielle to straighten out the bedrooms. I ironed and she cleaned.
In the afternoon, however, I often went out for a walk alone or with Marielle who had taken me under her wing.
At first, I was afraid of being recognized, but after a couple of days I realized that nobody paid any attention to me. Obviously, I had never approached the west of the city.
In addition, Lorenzo had given orders to help me buy some new clothes, since I would be there for a month.
Marielle helped me and didn't object when I showed her simple, anonymous, and cheap clothes.
I wanted to be as invisible as possible.
In the evening, however, I took care of serving the tables only for a couple of hours. Then I could get away and go to sleep, since I had to get up early the next morning.
I had tried to get closer to the kitchen, but the chef had never allowed me to cross the threshold.
He had taken such a scolding from Lorenzo that he no longer wanted to see me.
He was the only one who hated me. All my other colleagues loved me, and I felt at home with them.
Everything went on quietly and to maintain the calm atmosphere that surrounded me, I decided to distance myself from Lorenzo.
I could not understand what I had said and done when I was under the influence of cognac after passing out.
I had been one step away from revealing everything to Lorenzo.
I also told him that I was afraid of falling in love with him.
Unfortunately, I was already!
It was enough for me to see his shadow or feel his amber gaze on me for my heart to do somersaults.
Besides, I had become addicted to his fragrance. I had even come to look for it at the mall, in a perfume shop.
I had spent an afternoon looking for that same fragrance, but without success, and the saleswoman had explained to me that a fragrance tended to combine with that of the skin of the person wearing it, and to take on a unique and nowhere to be found essence.
