Capítulo 37: Hurt.
A young woman ran out of the villa barefoot in distress as her hair swayed back and forth.
There isn't a place to call home.
The only person that she could trust defiled her.
She had blistered for walking barefoot in the street, seemly for hours. She panted heavily and her pace decreased enormously as she began to drag her feet on the concrete, blood scrapping against the concrete with each step.
A tear streamed down her face unwillingly and a loud scream followed afterward. In the end, the truth was too much for her to handle. She fell on her knees and broke down crying, in this cruel world her voice could not be heard but instead vehicles beep their horn at her to move out of the road.
There was no destination than a few more miles were the closest city.
Her mind was engulfed by darkness, a void that could not be filled. She lifted up her head and stared, blankly at the horizon. Time did not move forward, and neither could she.
The billboard displayed a picture of the most loved couple, the sight of the image caused her chest to tighten up.
" I….it hurts so much…"
It feels like a razor blazer moving throughout her body.
'I can't forget what you did, what you said, what you thought was alright to do to me. With a gun to my head, I would have never done those things to you. I would rather die. So, to know how worthless my love was to you. I would have done anything you asked, given you whatever you wished for and after knowing the truth, I hate you and love you.'
She couldn't tell from the day to night apart, it felt like the word was coming in slow-motion. Suddenly, she collapsed.
A distant, longing dream of a prince and a princess falling in love with each other. The simple picture book flipped through the pages and closed. The front cover read Cinderella, her favorite children's book. She remembered when her parents would read her the story every night. It filled her with so much joy.
Finally, Kotori's eyes opened. Staring into a cold reality and painful memories. It did not take her long to realize that she was in a hospital. The room was plain and simple, her clothes were folded on the chair and she wore a gown. There was an IV in her hand which made it uncomfortable to move. Her feet were bandaged up and caused an unpleasant feeling, every few seconds she could relieve the pain.
Ah, I must've passed out. ….
Within her gaze, the voices from out the window caught her attention. She looked at a billboard that was on the tallest building with a picture of her and…. That guy, Kyosuke Nakamaru.
Why did we have to meet? I don't understand. How could you look at me with a straight face? I always wondered why a big shot like you would approach a nobody such as myself because none of it made sense. I was desperate and needed money, yet you took advantage of me. You gave me a glimpse of a world that I did not even know existed, I felt like a real princess and thought nothing could ever strip away my happiness.
Knock.
The doctor entered the room with a delightful smile, a smile that Kotori could not grasp anymore. It was far from her reach. It was foreign to her, and she didn't understand the simple pleasures in life.
"It's good to see that you are finally awake!" His voice sounded nice and kind of comforting." Should I call your husband?"
"I am divorced." She answered softly, in a sad tone. Even hearing it loudly with the words coming from her mouth sounds so ridiculous.
"What about your family?" He questioned.
"I have none..." She said." When can I leave?"
Following protocol, the doctor ran a couple of tests before releasing her to the public. It brought him a little excitement to be treating a celebrity from his new favorite series. There was something attractive about her aside from her looks and he could not put his finger on it. He adored her acting performance and wondered what type of person she was in real life.
"What are the results?" she asked as he looked at the clipboard intensely.
"Did you receive a treatment to terminate the fetus a couple of months ago.?",./
She gasped at the question and covered her mouth as her eyes widened. She remembered the excruciating pain in her lower abdomen, crying and vomiting every few 30 minutes. She was ashamed to give him the answer, in this world people's judgment is everything.
After a while, she slightly nodded and remained silent.
"The urine sample came back inconclusive, and the blood results revealed that it was positive…But it was noted that the pregnancy was successfully terminated." He looked at the chart, puzzled.
"I can guarantee that there's no fetus, I experience it all and receive the paperwork but if it put your mind at ease then proceed with the only option left."
He conducted an ultrasound and the two of them watched the screen.
"Listen to that strong heartbeat, you have a fighter!"
It was incredible, the tiny heart was beating very fast on the monitor resembling the sound of horses galloping thousands of miles within a single beat. This is supposed to be a precious moment, the mere thought this life created inside of her was nauseating. She lowered her head ashamedly. "Doctor, do not want a fighter, I would like to continue the process of terminating this pregnancy without any mishap."
"You would have to go through another facility if you were in the range to receive one. Miss, Nakamaru. You are well over four months, the fetus has a gender, and functioning organs. The fetus can hear and listen to its mother's voice."
" I am nothing to this parasite!"
"We can discuss other options later I must attend to other patients." He reassured her.
'Adoption…? Am I making the right choice'
" All I have to do is give birth and then the baby goes away." She asked.
"That is correct."
There was a small kick, the pressure pressed against her stomach made her uncomfortable as she signed the papers. She caught a glimpse from the window and saw a fancy vehicle moving towards the hospital.
It was finally her release date and walked towards the telephone. She couldn't think of anyone to call
A nurse ran into the room out of breath," Sir, the patient's husband is here."
"DOCTOR, WHY?"
" Calm down, ma'am. There must be some misunderstanding I didn't inform anyone that you were here, doctor-patient confidentiality. Perhaps, it was a staff member who did and I want to apologize." He spoke.
" I CAN'T STAY HERE, I CAN'T TRUST ANYONE!"
Kotori snatched the IV from her hand and horribly ran out of the room, pushing people that were in her way. She saw Kyosuke and his guards blocking the exit on each side
The patient was nowhere to be found, her shoes and folded clothes were on the chair. He sighed in disappointment, analyzing the room, then noticed small drops of blood that left a trail. He followed it, leading to a suspicious and dark alley. From that point, the trail stopped and there was no trace of her.
