A lone carriage slowly travels down a dirt road in the middle of a forest, surrounded by a few knights on horseback. The carriage is white in color with gilded edges and corners and a crest on the door that resembles a circle made out of ten swords, with their points aiming outwards. There are two individuals inside the carriage.
One is a young man with hazel eyes, light brown hair, and tan skin. He wears thick plate armor, unlike the knights outside who wear light armor. The crest that's one the outside on the carriage door is on the center of his chestplate. He has his left hand resting on the hilt of his hand and a half sword. The sword also has a guard that resembles a dragon head.
The other individual is a young girl wearing a light blue, frilly dress, and a golden tiara on her head. She has light green eyes, dirty blond hair, and light skin. She looks to be about the same age as the young knight. Both of them have looks of apprehension on their faces as they make their way along the dirt path. The young girl happens to glance out the window and notices a bat flying above their carries, and is struck by its ruby red eyes.
"Is something the matter, princess?" the knight asks.
"It's nothing. It's just that there's a bat out there flying in broad daylight."
The young knight looks and sees the same thing, "Odd. Maybe it's sick or something."
"What if the vampires are trying to contact us?"
"Princess, it's been almost a month since we were supposed to meet with that noble family of vampires and we haven't heard anything from them. And from what it seems, I have to believe that they were silenced by the theocracy. I highly doubt that we'll be hearing from them, unfortunately."
The princess clenches her fists, "This is all so horrible. Reogradia needs to be stopped. If this continues, then half of the world's population will be at risk. Any creature other than humans will be eradicated. I won't let that happen, Lucas."
"I agree, princess. If we can just…"
Suddenly, Lucas' words are cut off by the sound of a massive explosion in front of the carriage, "We're under attack!!" shouts one of the knights outside the carriage as it comes to a halt.
"Damn it!" shouts Lucas angrily, "Princess Valery, get down. I'm going outside."
"Be careful," she answers as Lucas steps out of the carriage.
As soon as Lucas steps out the door, he's greeted by a fierce battle. There's a large black crater in front of the carriage and one of the horses that once pulled the carriage is now dead. Knights, who've fallen off their horses as a result of the explosion are desperately fighting the enemy knights. Including Lucas, there are ten knights that are fighting to protect the princess, while the enemy has more than double that number.
An enemy knight launches himself as Lucas, "Theocracy bastards," he mutters as he draws his blade.
With a single stroke, the young knight draws his weapon and performs a technique in which his blade heats up, causing it to glow with an orange light, and slashes the knight in half at the waist. Lucas' weapon melts the knight's armor and cuts through his body like a knife going through butter. Though Reogradia knight is cut in half, no blood is spilt, as the wound cauterizes from the sword's heat.
Two more knights approach Lucas with weapons drawn, "I know you," one of them says, "You're the famous prodigy of the Aeron household, Lucas Aeron. Your family also supports the pro-peace faction with the vampires. Killing their one and only heir should give me a nice big boost in my rank."
"You're a fool if you think my demise will be by your hand," instead of heating up, Lucas' blade becomes enveloped in orange flames, "I have a special ability called the War God's Flame. The stronger my will to fight is, the stronger the flames that I produce are."
"That may be true, but get it too strong and you risk your precious little princess being burned to a crisp. Not that we're complaining. If you want to power up, go ahead. That just makes our job easier."
Lucas clicks his tongue, and slashes his sword horizontally, sending out a wave of flames that incinerates the two enemy knights instantly. Two more soldiers approach him from the side, brandishing their weapons. He turns, stabbing one of them in the chest with his flaming blade, and deflecting the other's sword with his left gauntlet. After deflecting the sword, Lucas punches the attacking knight with his armored hand. He then pulls his sword out of the stomach of the enemy knight, and plunges it into the chest of the knight he just knocked to the ground.
After removing his sword from the enemy knight, Lucas suddenly feels a sharp pain in the upper left corner of his back. He looks to see the end of an arrow sticking out from his armor. He focuses on the tree line to find more knights, wielding bows, as well as enemy mages. Lucas grits his teeth as the flames of his sword begin to burn stronger and brighter. However, as he's about to perform another fire attack, a blade of wind slices into the armor and flesh on the side of his right knee.
"AAHH!!" he screams in pain as he drops his sword, and is forced to kneel to the ground.
As blood gushes from the clean slice in his knee, he places his hand on the wound, hoping to stop the bleeding. He reaches for his weapon with his right hand, only for another wind blade to come and slash into his elbow, down to the bone. As his right arm drops from the attack, another arrow is fired and lands right on Lucas' left shoulder. The young knight continues to grit his teeth as he tries to get up, but then, a fire spell emerges from the woods, and explodes as soon as it hits Lucas.
The explosion is strong enough to rock the battlefield, and send Lucas flying into the ground beside the carriage. The young knight's armor has several cracks and holes while drops of sweat and blood drip down his face. Lucas fights through the anguish, and musters up what strength he has left to stand. Then he looks, to find that the battle is all but over. The bodies of his comrades lie dead on the ground while Reogradia soldiers stand over them with prideful looks and wicked expressions on their faces. Barely able to even stand, Lucas steals his resolve to pull a knife out of his pocket with his left hand, and readies himself for combat. The mages aim their palms at the young knight in the carries. Some create tornadoes that would create wind blades while others have fireballs forming in their hands.
Just when the mages and archers are about to fire, a voice rings out over their heads, "I think that's enough."
