Capítulo 21: Chapter Twenty One: Awakening

The next thing that Alexia knows, her vision is clouded with red. She tries moving, and feels stronger. She's able to feel her hands, as well as her legs, which she originally was unable to feel and move around. Alexia then realizes that she's completely submerged in a strange, red, viscous liquid, but is somehow still able to breathe. Finally, there's a deep soreness in her body whenever the young girl tries to move. Alexia bares through the pain and extends her to see if there's an air pocket. However, her hand then impacts a slightly elastic membrane. Alexia tries to force her way through the elastic membrane, but to no avail.

Then, through the liquid and membrane, Alexia can hear muffled voices, "She's awake!"

"Go now! Notify the other horsemen, the sins, the commandments, and the rulers! I shall help her. And prepare some clothing as well."

Alexia doesn't know what's happening but she wants to get out of whatever this chamber is. She thrashes about within the liquid, trying to grab a hold of the membrane in order to tear it open. Finally, she gets two handfuls of the membrane and quickly tears a hole inside of it. As soon as she does that, the contents of the membrane, including Alexia herself, spills out onto the cold floor. Then, when her body is exposed to the outside air, she reflexively throws up the red liquid that she was breathing inside of the capsule.

"Empress!!"

Alexia ignores the voice of the unknown individual as she hacks and coughs up the remnants of the liquid in her lungs. Finally, Alexia breathes her first breath of fresh air since dying. After taking some heavy breaths, the girl is seized by a large headache, making her grasp her head in pain.

"Empress, are you alright?!"

Alexia looks up from her position on her knees to see a young man with brown hair, orange eyes that looked like they were flaming, and white skin with a concerned expression on his face. The young man is dressed in beautiful, ornate, golden armor. This armor covers from his shoulders to his toes. His gauntlets have sharp claws at the end of each finger, and his armor seems to have decorative patterns resembling dragons. This gentleman also has two, large, golden horns sprouting from his forehead and are angled backwards. Finally, he carries a large katana with a golden guard, and white handle.

"Em… press?"

Alexia tries to say more but ends up coughing up more of the red liquid, "Please don't push yourself, your highness." The horned man rips off the black cape he wears and gently places it over Alexia's naked body, "You've been in the chamber for a long time."

The young girl then looks up at the young gentleman once more and realizes who he is, "Ha… dri… an?"

It is Hadrian, the golden dragon knight. One of the thirty NPC commanders that Alexia created in the body of her avatar, Eris, and leader of the Four Horsemen. Out of the four NPCs commander forces that Alexia created, the Four Horsemen are the strongest. However, this confuses Alexia more than she did anything else. NPCs aren't supposed to move unless ordered, and they aren't supposed to be able to talk at all. But now, Hadrian, the leader of the Four Horseman is sitting directly in front of her and speaking freely.

"Yes… it is I, your highness. The Golden Dragon Knight, Hadrian."

The more he talks, the bigger Alexia's headache gets as she wonders to herself, "How is the NPC I created talking to me? Not only that, but why? The NPCs shouldn't even be alive, and why is he talking to me like I'm… I'm…"

Alexia thinks for a moment, then she reaches for her hair, and pulls it in front of her eyes. As soon as her hair's raven black color comes into view, she realizes something about where she is at this point in time.

"I'm… Eris?"

"Your highness, have you perhaps lost your memories in the time that you've been asleep?"

"Maybe I should try acting like my character should?" Eris thinks to herself.

The young woman shakes her head, "I'm Eris Vermilion. I'm the ruler of Amaris, the Empire of the Blood Moon. However, there are some things that I don't remember. Could you tell me why I was in that capsule?"

"Of course. But first allow me to apologize. I was about to cut the top open so that you wouldn't fall on the floor. Forgive me. I should've been quicker to act."

"I don't care. Just tell me why I was in that thing," she responds coldly.

"Yes, my apologies. You see, ten thousand years ago, you suddenly collapsed where you were standing. We have no idea as to why it happened or how."

"Ten thousand years?" Eris asks with widened eyes.

"Unfortunately, yes. We tried all manner of magics in the hopes of reviving you, but nothing worked. So we put you into a hibernation capsule."

"If I recall, that's a special chamber reserved for high-breed vampires. They get inside these chambers if they want to hibernate for a long period of time." Eris then thinks for a moment, "This capsule isn't supposed to actually work. I just put it in my castle for decoration."

"Indeed, Empress. Although, we worried that rest wouldn't be enough to cure whatever ails you. That's when Raven proposed the idea of filling the chamber with a high-level healing potion mixed with blood, and keeping it in a liquid state. We were hoping that by doing this, your regenerative abilities would keep you alive while we found a way to heal you completely."

"Hm, looks like she made the right call. I'll have to reward her later for that."

"I agree. I cannot tell you how happy I am to see you fully recovered, Empress Eris."

"Thank you, Hadrian. Now, what about the state of Bloodfallen?"

"Beside your aliment, that is another mystery we have yet to solve," Harian answers in a solemn tone.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, at the same time you collapsed, we felt a massive earthquake. At the time, we were so concerned with your health, we ignored the shaking. It wasn't until after we made the decision to put you into the capsule that we noticed it."

"Noticed what?"

"Bloodfallen has disappeared. And in its place are ruins. The Four Horsemen, the Seven Deadly Sins, the Ten Commandments, and the Nine Rulers of Purgatory. We've all tried to identify it. We've even combed through the library of the castle but to no avail. No citizens, no magic energy or artificial blood generators, just ruins."

"Have you been collecting data on the surrounding area?" Alexia asks with a serious tone.

"We have, but we don't know what has happened so we haven't traveled very far."

"What have you found out?"

"According to Raven, each day is approximately 27 hours long. Not only that, but the star alignments are also different from what the books in the library say they should be."

"Longer days and different stars. These both imply that we're no longer in the same world as before."

"That was Raven's hypothesis as well."

Eris thinks for a moment but is interrupted as the door to the room opens up, and a young woman appears through the door. She looks to be in her early twenties with dark skin, black hair that goes down to her shoulders, long, pointed ears, and mysterious purple eyes. She wears dark grey robes, a black long sleeve shirt, a black skirt, leather boots and leather gloves that cover from her knuckles almost to her elbows. She also wears a traditional witch's hat on top of her head. In her hands, she carries pieces of folded clothing.

"Speak of the dark elf," says Hadrian with a smirk.

"Raven?" Eris asks.

"Oh! Your highness!" the dark elf immediately kneels to Eris' side, "Are you alright?" she turns towards the knight with an angered expression, "Hadiran, you fool! You were supposed to help her get out of the capsule. Not cut it open and leave her naked on the floor!"

"Naked?" Eris asks before looking down and realizing that she really does not have any clothes on. Only the cape that Hadiran covered her with, "AH!!"

Eris quickly grabs both sides of the cloth and covers her entire body. The young girl's face turns cherry red out of embarrassment as she thinks to herself, "Oh my god! I can't believe that I was naked in front of a bunch of people and I didn't even notice!"

"Empress, are you alright? Your face is flushed red," says Raven.

Eris bares through it and answers, "I'm… fine… just please give me my clothes."

"Of course," says the dark elf, handing Eris her clothing.

"I want the two of you to go. Assemble the Four Horsemen, the Seven Deadly Sins, the Ten Commandments, and the Nine Rulers of Purgatory in the underground colosseum," the vampire answers.

"Empress, I believe that you should get some rest."

"I've been resting long enough, Hadrian. Go now."

The two of them bow, and then walk out the door. Eris breathes a heavy sigh, and tries to absorb all of the information that she has learned.

She speaks quietly to herself, "This is what that panel meant by a second chance? Putting me into the body of my avatar from my favorite game and bringing the NPCs I created to life?"

Holding the clothes in her right hand and keeping the cloth covering her body with her left, Eris stands and walks over to the window to her left and looks out. What she sees is exactly what Hadrian had described to her, ruins. Dilapidated stone buildings, broken city streets, even what seems like broken down sewage, aqueducts, and irrigation systems. The city itself looks to be almost the same size as Bloodfallen, the original home of Eris and her castle. She then looks at her own castles and realizes that it's the same one that was inside the game as well.

"It also transported my castle here? But the question is, where is 'here' exactly?" she sighs, "Well, those questions can be saved for later. I'll need to test a few things out first. The first thing I want to figure out is if I have my avatar's body, then does that mean that I also have her strength? And do my commanders have their strength as well?"
