Capítulo 20: Chapter 20

It was almost sunset by the time we came back to camp. The rest of our group came to check on us as soon as they heard cars, to see how we were doing and help us unload everything. They were worried sick when they saw the traces of blood on our clothes, as we didn't bother cleaning up there.

"What the hell happened?" Shane asked, checking for wounds on us.

"The only pharmacy safe enough was next to a small hoard of walkers. We killed them." Jim announced stoically, but I could see he was proud of our achievement.

"Are you mad?!" Dale admonished. "That's not what you should've done. You were supposed to look for another way, or just leave them there for god's sake."

"It's the only part of the city that isn't overrun." Glenn defended our actions. "We leave them there, and soon enough, nowhere would be safe for us in the city. We made the right move."

"What's done's done. No use talking about it now." Theodore said. "Besides, we wouldn't have done it if we weren't sure."

"How many were there?" Morales frowned at their recklessness.

"We found five of them blocking the path to the store. Another fifteen when we went to the pharmacy." Glenn answered.

"You're fucking telling me the four of you fought fifteen walkers at once?" Shane was lost for words at the absurdity of their claims.

"He didn't say that." Jim interrupted. "Xenon found a way to make them more manageable. We followed his lead."

"Let me get this straight." Shane was biting his fist as he said this. "You let a fucking KID tell you, the ADULTS, what to do?"

"I don't give two shits about how old he is." Theodore said passionately. "All I give a damn about is thanks to him, we'll be eating our fill for weeks."

Merle was just sitting next to a tree, enjoying the drama, chuckling from time to time. Daryl was nowhere to be seen. Ed, Carol's husband, didn't care enough to join.

"No harm was done, Shane." Lori commented. "They did what they had to do, no one was hurt. There is no need to point fingers at anybody."

"We had a long day, how about we talk about this when we're properly rested?" Andrea suggested. And on that note, the conversation ended. I didn't want to argue with them at all, instead, I will give them enough time to talk it out among themselves. I knew my teammates would defend my actions, so I'd just be creating more tension by talking, really. I also know Shane will understand our actions when it's explained to him properly. Even Dale will have to accept it because at the end of the day, we didn't get hurt. Morales… I don't know much about him, but I'm sure he'll come to terms with it as well.

We brought back food, some medicine, bandages and a few weapons we managed to take from the hardware store. We couldn't take a lot; our cars were already full at the time, but at least we now have an untouched hardware store safely waiting for us at the city. But that's not the best thing that came out of it for me…

To say that I was happy with my progress would be an understatement. I wasn't entirely sure how those rewards were calculated, but at least, I know now that it's based on my performance before leveling up.
