Capítulo 22: Chapter 22 part 1

Melina woke up that morning with a pulsing headache. Her head was hurting so badly, it felt as though someone had used a hot burning iron on it. Her sight was a little blurry since she had passed out the previous night and now, she was trying to clear her eyesight to see where she was.

She tried to remember what happened the last time she was awake but her head was a thorough mess right now. Taking a deep breath while still rubbing her eyes, she attempted to get down from the bed but when her legs touched the floor, she felt like she was stepping on a fabric and the more she tried to push it away, the more she felt the dress she was wearing pull down.

Her eyes narrowed and she stop rubbing it to see what was going on. When her vision had started clearing, she glanced at the floor but this time, her attention was taken, by her surroundings. She gazed around the room looking utterly surprised.

Where was she? She asked herself and instinctively jumped out of the bed but before she could stand on her feet, the cloth she was wearing pulled harder and she fell to the ground with a loud bang!

"Ouch!" She cried out while soothing her waist. She looked at herself, trying to fathom what happened before her eyes went wide realizing what she was wearing!

"Huh?? What is this?" She asked herself aloud, wondering how she got to wear this. Now that she understood what had been happening, she yanked up the garment which had been hindering her from standing properly and finally stood up.

There was a mirror right in front of her so the moment she stood up, she could see herself and her face turned pale.

Was she dead? because she looked like a ghost right now. She was tied over her head with bandages like a person wrapped and ready to be put in a tomb. She was also wearing a black long garment...she didn't even know what she would call it. It covered her entire body down to the ground and still even had leftovers that came to form a circle around the floor.

She looked at the dimly lit room which was not her room and she wasn't hoping to live in it someday. It was too big! She attempted to remember what happened last night, and this time, it was apparent. She had gone to the frontier and just when she was about to rest her head, someone intruded but she couldn't recollect who the person was.

Maybe the person kidnapped her! She exclaimed in her mind while shivering and now wanted to make a move but then the door creaked open. She turned in the direction where she heard the person open and a tall familiar frame came into view. The Prince? Why was he here? He was holding a tray of food as he reached.

"Oh...you're awake!" He said, a slight smile of relief clouding his face. "How are you now?" He inquired but before she could answer, he interrupted. "You had better be better. I can't hide you here for too long so people don't get suspicious about your whereabouts." She finished his statement and Melina just looked at him blandly.

"Good morning...milord." She bowed her head which hurt a little but she ignored it.

Leon was stunned by her sudden greeting but still acknowledged it. He had prepared himself for her tantrums but didn't seem to be getting any.

Just to clarify, he told, "Err...you fainted last night in the woods so I helped you out." He paused to look at her and it seemed like she remembered and just nodded.

'Maybe she hasn't realized yet that she's not wearing her regular cloth.' He assumed. Else he didn't see any reason for her unusual composure.

Dropping the plate of food on the table close to the chair, he told her. "Come sit and eat. You would need energy for today's task." He explained in a pleading tone and like an obedient puppy, she heeded. She went to sit on the fluffy bed and Leon brought the food in front of her. He placed the spoon beside the food and she picked it up. Two minutes went by but she didn't take a spoon of food into her mouth.

He stared at her face which seemed very distant at the point. "Are you not hungry?" He asked, bringing her back from her deep thinkings. She glanced at the food.

"I am but I don't have an appetite." She admitted.

"How?" He was confused. How could one be hungry and not have an appetite?

She didn't reply and he now got annoyed.

"Look, young girl, you don't have any idea the stress you put me through last night and I still got food for you to eat. Don't make me lose it else I'll throw you out of my room with an empty stomach!"

She looked shocked at his statement but since she didn't want to embarrass herself further, she quickly packed the food he had fetched for her, using the spoon, straight into her mouth and swallowed it. She continued the action till she had taken in about five spoons and stopped.

"And the rest of the food?" He asked.

"I am full. I don't eat more than this." She explained honestly and Leon, who was about to get angry with her again, furrowed his eyebrows at her last sentence.

"What do you mean?" He was curious. She looked at him scared to speak as if she was conveying a secret before her trembling lips opened.

"It's how we are trained to eat. Not more than five spoons. So I can't go beyond it." She sincerely responded.
