"What is the commotion about?" Y/N asked as she entered the classroom. The girls were all huddled nearby Sasuke and Naruto who were glaring at each other. She groaned in irritation, knowing this was going to be a daily routine for them.
She slowly walked towards them and quietly sat down - beside Sasuke. God, the boy really needs a break.
"Hey! Why are you sitting there?!" Sakura shouted as the other girls joined her in the argument.
"Well, I don't see anyone sitting here," her eyes moved to observe Sasuke, "And it's not exactly like I have to ask for permission from anyone."
"Ofcourse you do! It's Sasuke! He's-"
"Just another student. I would've moved if all of you were nicer but since you started it the wrong way, I don't plan on getting up at all," Y/N smiled at them, "Feel free to cuss all you want." Suddenly all the girls became quiet. They were looking behind her. It's not like they were nice enough to stop right away, so to check the situation, she turned behind and a small gasp escaped her lips. Followed by a loud snort of laughter, "Oh my god, congrats on your first kiss gentlemen."
Both - Sasuke and Naruto - quickly moved away and were coughing outside their seats. "Naruto, you are so dead," Sakura said. Y/N looked behind at the girls and realized that maybe the little accident was too much for them. Well, she couldn't understand their reasons in the first place. Sure, it's okay to be jealous but why hurt someone over an accident?
Naruto seemed to try and make them understand, "Hey, woah. It was an accident." But the girls already had their mind set about it and started cracking their knuckles.
Y/N sighed. Well, she did plan to stay away from the problems he created but-
"Do you girls have any brains or is it something girls in Konoha suffer from?" Y/N asked, furrowing her brows. She already had a lot in her mind but these stupid girls weren't making it easier for her.
"What did you say?"
"Oh you didn't hear me clearly? Are you girls stupid?" she asked, "Naruto clearly said it was an accident. Why would he kiss someone he clearly hates? You just need to have a reason to beat him up or something? Cause that's all I've been seeing since I got here."
"Hey...that's not it. You don't know any-"
"As a matter of fact, I do. And I still don't understand your reasons? Get back to your seats," she glared at them, "You're pissing me off."
Maybe there was something about her tone, or glare but the girls suddenly scattered and got back to their seats. Sakura meanwhile, kept standing near the table watching her.
"You can either sit beside me or get out," Y/N said looking straight at the board. Sakura walked away to another seat after a while.
Naruto quietly sat beside her with a grin on his face, "Hey, thank you."
"You're welcome. But, you need to work on your attitude. Why do you even let them treat you like that?" Y/N asked, looking at him. She might not be that observant but she could definitely feel the expression in his eyes change.
Oh.
"Nevermind. That's why you're good at making friends. Just...choose your friends wisely, okay?" Y/N smiled at him.
He immediately smiled, almost relieved to not answer the question, and said, "You bet I will!"
"Naruto and wise doesn't go in the same sentence," Sasuke muttered.
"Hey! What did you say?!" Naruto yelled glaring at him.
Y/N sighed and thanked Iruka in her mind as he entered the classroom. She heard all about Naruto's deeds after he failed the genin exams. Well, they did give him to perform the technique he was the worst at - clone technique. Y/N tried to find him but she couldn't. There was no sign of him. Later she heard the news of how one of the instructors, Mizuki, tricked Naruto into believing that if he could steal the and learn one of its secret techniques, he would be allowed to continue on to the ranks of the ninja anyway and graduate. Thankfully, Iruka got the idea at the right time and went to look for Naruto. She didn't know what went on, but Iruka, who informed her a little bit about it said that Naruto was now promoted as a genin.
A small smile spread across her face. She didn't know the details, ofcourse, but the least she was definite out of it is that Naruto understood his mistake and gave back the scroll. Maybe the Hokage was kind enough to let him off punishment. Letting out a breath of relief, she concentrated on Iruka's words.
"All the genin will be grouped into three-man squad. Each squad will be led by a jounin - an elite ninja-" Iruka said but got interrupted by a small voice in front of him.
"Three?" Y/N asked, looking up at him with eyes full of worry.
"-with one group as an exception," Iruka smiled at her, "We know one student will be left out if we make groups of three."
Y/N gave him a smile of gratitude.
Iruka looked ahead at the class full of genins and said, "And now, I will announce the teams."
[ TIME SKIP ]
Not very surprisingly, Y/N landed on Team 7 with Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura. A part of her thought, maybe it was Iruka who wanted her to be close to Naruto. There's barely any other kid in class who can handle the whole disorganized team in place. Maybe she was the weight that was needed to balance it altogether. Honestly, she was okay with all of them. But she did wish Sakura to be a bit more mature. Naruto was obvious about his crush on Sakura, while she was open about her crush on Sasuke. It was all a big hassle to her. She wanted to concentrate on becoming someone powerful, and maybe when she's old enough, the Hokage will allow her to go in search for her parents alone.
The thought of her parents reminded her of something she has been facing for a few days. Her nightmares were back. The weird part of it was that she was aware that she was in fact dreaming about the lady who was always mumbling something. It wasn't exactly a lady, it was...a dark figure. Almost like a smoke shaped like a lady. She continued whispering but Y/N couldn't comprehend a single word out of it. And just like a kid would, she ran away as soon as she caught a sight of it. It is normal for a kid to run away from a shadow that is desperately trying to reach you, right? But the worst part of it was that despite being aware, she was never able to wake up. She didn't have any control over it - and that's what scared her the most. Everyday she waited for the time she would finally be able to wake herself up and it felt exhausting.
That was half the reason why she felt irritated all day. As if it wasn't bad that she couldn't get a peaceful sleep, the girls of the class were blindly in love with Sasuke for some reason, enough to forget logic.
Sitting quietly on a roof, she ate and looked at her team - a total mess. It would be bad to assume, but it looked like Naruto had diarrhea going by the amount of times he visited the bathroom. Sakura by the looks of it, was rejected by Sasuke and he looked a bit...mad.
All of a sudden, Y/N gasped as if she got caught doing misdeeds when Sasuke looked up at her. He quietly walked away after a while.
As soon as she was finished, she was about to get up when she heard a voice. The voice of the person she was least expecting - Sasuke Uchiha.
"Who are you really?"
"I...uh, you really don't remember my name?"
"I am not asking your name," he said, "Who are you?"
Y/N was at a loss of words. Trader's daughter? Traveler's daughter? Daughter of Y/L/N clan? If they even know its existence?
She chuckled and looked down at her tiffin box, "Well, I am trying to find out too."
"Hn."
Y/N was about to ask him for the reason of his question but turned to find the place empty. Well, Sasuke silently left.
That was...polite of him. He didn't push it.
Sasuke on the other hand was confused. Sure, she wasn't lying about herself, right? How did she not feel the strange aura she had in herself. It was faint but it was very obvious. It can't be that she actually had no idea about her unnaturally dilated pupils when she gets mad. The girls in the class didn't just leave Naruto because she was pissed.
No, they felt a strange tug in their stomach at that moment just like he did.
