"Fancy that." Esme poured some whiskey into a tumbler and walked around the bar, the ice clinking against the glass as she smiled at Leo while walking towards Gabriel. She handed the King his drink, but upon reaching for the glass, Gabriel held onto her extended hand instead, tugging her slightly towards him for a gentle kiss. The dark liquid sloshed, and the ice clinked again in the glass but stilled when she pulled away, and her mate brought the glass to his lips.

The she-wolf heard Leo chuckle behind her, Gabriel's slight possessiveness revealed for a moment towards her friend. Leo plopped into the leather armchair across from Gabriel, making the chair move back slightly from his weight. Esme frowned at her friend's nonchalant attitude and looked at him questionably. 

Why was he sitting here with Gabriel?
