Capítulo 11: Made To Be Exasperated: Chapter 11

-Flint-

I slouched in my seat. I was tired of the constant meetings. I wanted to avoid the pack house as much as I could because each time I entered, the yearning in my chest for my mate only increased tenfold. But yet again, I sat in a conference room on the first floor of the pack house for the hundredth time this week.

"I'm a little concerned." Koda, the other wolf who found his mate, started hesitantly. "All these Omegas are so frail and so much smaller than us… How will we be able to complete the mating ritual?"

I pursed my lips. This was something I'd also considered, but I never voiced my concerns. My mate was so tiny. Even though she'd put on a few pounds since arriving, she stood at least two and a half feet shorter than my over seven foot stature. Her frame was only further dwarfed by my size. There was no way I'd be able to mate with her without destroying her entirely. Would I be forced to live with an incomplete bond?

Mingan hummed with furrowed brows and turned to Conri.

"That's a good question," Conri sighed. Clearly, he'd also had the same worries. "I've been-"

He was cut off abruptly when commotion from the hallway snared our attention. Seconds later, the door crashed open and none other than my mate toppled to the ground as a much larger form fell onto her.

"Dot?"

Immediately, her eyes met mine. "Daddy?" She panted with eyes the size of saucepans.

My breath caught and stunned silence suffocated the room. Her breathy words sent a jolt straight through me and I couldn't help but harden. I'd never expected such words to draw such a reaction from me, but the feeling in my loins didn't lie. What the fuck was wrong with me? Why the fuck would she call me that?

My eyes shot to the man who dared lay hands on my mate, Gregor. I bared my teeth and if he said anything I had no idea because the blood pounding in my ears blocked out everything.

I leaped over the table in a mad fury, snarling explosively. I grabbed Gregor by his neck and slammed him against the wall. I'd kill him!

"Flint! Your mate!" Waya's voice shook me from my tunnel vision.

I looked about and realized she had fled.

"We will handle him. Go see to your mate." Mingan urged as she took hold of the man.

I grimaced, my bloodlust simmering, but she was right. I needed to find my mate. She could have been hurt!

I raced down the hall, just in time to see her fluffy tail disappear into the kitchen. I quickly rushed in and spun my head around in a panicked search.

"Sorry," I heard a whimper and my head shot to the small form crouching atop the refrigerator. Her pupils were dilated and almost hid the white of her eyes and her ears laid flat against her head. The wild look on her face shone with terror.

"For what?" I took a step forward, but stopped in my tracks when she recoiled.

"Accident." She tucked her tail between her legs.

I didn't care about whatever accident happened. "Are you hurt?" I croaked worriedly.

She shook her head minutely.

"Why are you down here?" I tried to take on a soothing tone and force a gentle look onto my face, but that was never something I excelled at.

She narrowed her eyes at me. I raised my hands half way, trying desperately to convey I meant no harm.

"Hungry." She murmured.

I glanced at the clock. It was a little past noon. Conri usually took her food to her by now, but it was a tad late due to the meeting. I couldn't help but snort as the knot in my stomach loosened slightly. Though I was still angry at Gregor, the haughty sneer that replaced the fear on her face made pleasure blossom in my chest. Maybe she was more brave than I thought?

I nodded, and slowly approached the fridge, ducking down to try to hide some of my height. However, it merely put me at eye level with her, so I quickly reached into the fridge and stooped down to rummage through the bottom drawer. I pulled out a container of tenderloin that I'd planned to make for her later that day.

The hair on the back of my neck prickled as I felt her eyes on me. I turned to the large stove on the island in the center of the kitchen. I got out a pan and slapped the piece of meat into it along with some butter and seasoning. It sizzled loudly as I cut it into bite sized pieces while it cooked.

A mouth watering scent drifted to my nostrils, and within moments, I plated the meat and placed it at the table along with a glass of juice. I retreated to the far end of the room and leaned against the wall with my arms folded across my chest. I raised an eyebrow at the huddled girl.

"Come eat." I stated calmly yet authoritatively, though my heart was anything but. It quivered in anticipation, hopeful she would come down.

With barely a sound, she practically slithered down the oversized fridge, her lithe body descending with such grace. She looked at me suspiciously, but I merely gestured toward the food. With one last glance in my direction, she slipped into the chair and studied the food with a hesitant sniff. That's all it took before she hungrily began scarfing it down.

I couldn't help but to release a chuckle at the gentle purring that she emitted. It pleased me to see her turn from a feral cat to calm kitten as she scarfed down the meal I made. Goddess help me. How I wished to make her purr in other ways. I just hoped she was too distracted by the food to notice me carefully adjusting my leaking hardness into the waist band of my jeans to lay flat against my belly. I suppressed a groan.

"There you are." Conri entered the kitchen.

"Where is Gregor?" I asked gruffly. Dot flinched at the harshness of my words and I inwardly cringed.

"We sent him home." Conri pulled a chair out across from Dot. A tightness in my chest formed. How I wished for her to be as comfortable with me, though I doubted I'd be able to control myself if I approached any closer.

I released a growl. "He touched my mate."

Conri sighed. "He explained everything. He thought she was lost, but she got scared when he tried to help her."

"Like hell he was." I snarled.

Dot let out a hiss as she pulled into herself further. I rubbed at my temples, feeling a headache forming. I didn't mean to scare her, but having her so close seemed to make all of my composure disappear.

"Was he trying to help you?" I quieted my voice as I addressed her, but she didn't seem any less tense and merely cocked a brow at me. I groaned and palmed my eyes.

"I know it's frustrating." Conri chuckled, referring to the difficulty of communicating. "Just be patient. Their classes start tomorrow."

I nodded with a quick glance at my mate. Her head was bowed as she finished the last of her meal. I clenched my eyes shut. There was still so much we didn't know about these omegas. Would I ever be able to get close with Dot? Even if we could communicate effectively, would she even accept me? Would we be able to complete the bonding process? Did she feel the bond as strongly as I did?

There were too many questions in my head.
