Capítulo 22: XXII
The prince felt it was an insult to his fighting abilities for his soldiers to be scared that he could not protect himself. He quickly sent them away to save his ego.
"What is your relationship with my cousin, Princess Aurora," the prince asked when he was left alone with the two tied prisoners.
"My lord is the Princess' guard," Helen suddenly replied being aware of what her master planned to tell the prince since she could do anything in order to stay away from the dungeon.
"From what I heard my cousin does not have a guard because no one is willing to even harm her because she is bad luck and her beauty makes them feel like she is a creature of the water," the prince told them what he knows as he stared at them skeptically.
"The princess Aurora was poisoned in the palace twice, her horse was drugged once and she almost got shot down while walking around in the castle once," Helen said truthfully as she glanced at Aurora with a look that she tried to use to relate to her master that she could handle it.
"Why are you telling me all these?" the prince asked with an unreadable expression as he felt the need to hide the pain he felt towards his cousin who just like had to live without her parents although her case was much more different since she actually watched them die.
"Because you don't believe the princess has a guard," Aurora replied with her tone clearly telling the prince that he was very thoughtless.
She actually did not have a guard despite all those bad things that kept happening to her because she believed she could protect herself and most people were too scared to consider being her guard.
"Hmm Hmm," the prince cleared his throat of the lump that formed from all the bad things he heard that have happened to his cousin in his absence. He still got to hear news about her but they were mostly from people who considered her an eyesore.
"The princess . . ." Helen started but she stopped when she saw Aurora shake her head wanting to continue the discussion with the prince.
The prince suddenly frowned when he saw a man walk into the courtyard dressed in the robe that is worn by the general.
"Prince Viktor, I heard you were interrogating a prisoner so I decided to come to watch," the very tall bulky man said as he walked and sat down on another chair under the shade.
"No . . . They are not prisoners. I just found them very fasinating. They are travellers and I wanted to know more about them," the prince said with his voice obviously shaking in fear as he stood up nervously.
Aurora also frowned. She did not like her cousin's reaction to the man's arrival. What right does he as a soldier under her uncle the king to make her cousin the future king get so scared.
"Really? I heard one of them has a message from the Princess Aurora for you," the middle aged general said as he further made himself comfortable even taking the water prepared for the prince.
"Yes. When I left the kingdom under the order of the king to find a fruit from the East, I was ordered by the princess who I worked with for a while to relay her sincere apologies. She said she was not able to tell him from her mouth that she was not the reason why the Prince fell ill.
"She said she also missed your presence in the palace and you should not believe the rumors," Aurora replied immediately with her head bowed.
Viktor gave her a tight smile and nodded. He really wanted to tell her that he did not mind because he doesn't believe all the rumors but the words got stuck in his mouth as he glanced at the general to hear what he had to say about it all.
"The princess Aurora. I saw her once. She is a very beautiful lady but her beauty is so excess that it makes her seem so unreal. Whenever she looks at someone, she makes them feel like she is looking into their soul," the man said with an annoyed expression. "I have thought of pulling out her beautiful eyes a lot of times but the king is so protective of her. When you become king, I want her eyes for a gift," the general ordered.
Aurora could not help but blink her eyes as she dropped her gaze to the ground. This man was a very mad man. She wondered how he met her only once but he has so much impression of her eyes. She noticed Helen was shaking from her peripheral vision.
She was grateful to her maid for lying earlier or the man would have gone after her eyes.
The prince noticed her movements and felt the urgency to let the prisoners leave before this man who is his mother's younger brother decides to do something brutal to them. He was offended that they used his identity but they definitely won't deserve what his uncle might want to do.
The general suddenly stood up when he noticed that the tall prisoner actually had the most beautiful skin he has seen in a while since he saw the princess last. He walked towards them baffled by how the skin glowed under the bright afternoon sun.
"Uncle . . . General Bruce . . . I. . .," the prince began unsure of what to say to appease his uncle.
The bulky general turned and look at his nephew who was trying to distract him from the fun he was about to have.
Aurora shook her head when she met the fearful gaze of her cousin.
"What?!" The general asked his nephew his eyes raging with anger
The prince, noticing Aurora's warning gaze shook his head and sat down despite how his body was shaking nervously.
The angry general continued advancing towards the two prisoners.
