Capítulo 21: XXI
When the message got to Prince Viktor, he could not help but frown. How was this young man connected to his very beautiful cousin? Was he her fiancé? No, that could not be, her fiancé is a duke.
He might not be living in the capital right now but he tried to keep himself as updated as he could. It is not updated enough but he was very aware of her engagement to the very wealthy Duke who has captured the hearts of a lot of young girls in the province he lives in.
From the Intel, the union was set up by his father, the king. He stood up from the dark brown wooden chair he sat on to eat the breakfast he overlooked in order to capture the travellers.
"I will go over and listen to what he has to say," the prince told his messenger who brought the message from one of the soldiers.
"The prisoner refused to go into the dungeon," the message informed him.
"Then bring him over to the courtyard. I will talk to him there," the prince immediately agreed curious to know what message Aurora sent to him through the stranger.
He was surprised to find out that Aurora cared enough to send a message to him when she did never cared to read it nor reply. He was frequently updated with the big news from the city but he was still not aware of many other things that happen in the capital.
He was sure that Aurora's reputation of the princess with the ill luck so he wondered how this stranger got close enough to get a message from his cousin sister.
Aurora could not help but sigh in relief when the guard who left returned with the good news that she did not have to go into that stinking dungeon.
Can't there be a better place for prisoners to stay since they are still humans no matter what crime committed by the prisoner and those accused falsely like her could have a better place to stay?
It will be hard for someone like her who cares a lot about the neatness of a place to stay in such a place and still remain sane. Just the smell she perceived from the door, she lost her mind and threw her plans out of the window and decided to blow her cover.
She could accept getting tortured severely until she loses all the blood in her crib but that dungeon was the worse torture she could be made to go through.
Helen looked at her master with her eyes asking if she was alright and Aurora nodded when she noticed her gaze. Helen was very much aware of the reason why her master reacted the way she did. The smell was very bad.
Aurora was left with Helen under the sun while Prince Viktor was spacing around his room unsure if he should be whatever Aurora might say to him or not.
He finally got it all resolved as he planned to ask for evidence. He might have been a small boy when he left the palace but one of the figures he will never forget is that of his cousin.
His mother caused a fuss saying that his cousin was the reason behind all the pain he was made to pass through but he never felt anger. Aurora was the only person he could be a little boy with and not the prince who was the future king.
She was cold at first and kept sending him off but when he persisted as a little child running off always to look for her causing his mother's servants to go around searching for him.
He was very little when he followed her to her chamber and since then, he never stopped escaping the watchful eyes of his Nanny and the other servants to find her.
His first impression of her was how beautiful and otherworldly she looked. She was like a goddess. He felt she was different and that was why he wanted to spend more time with her than with his mother. Her presence – no matter how cold she was to him at first – still made him feel joy and happiness in her presence.
When she finally became soft towards him, he fell ill. Then the pains were both head splitting and heart crushing. He did not believe she caused it because she was everything far from a bad luck.
He walked into the courtyard with a serious frown and the man was sweating furiously. The sun despite that did not have any effect on the beauty and glow of the stranger's skin. It was better than any woman he has seen around in a while including the overly pampered daughter of the province head.
If the stranger did not have sharp facial features that appeared masculine, he would have thought the skin belongs to woman and a well-bred lady of a wealthy family for that matter. The glow of the stranger's hair also reminded him of his cousin and he frowned before walking to the chair placed under the shade for him and sat majestically.
"I have a busy day ahead of me. Could you go on with what you have to say?" Viktor said clearing his throat with a tired and bored expression.
"Can they leave us?" Aurora asked carefully since she did not want to speak to the prince about her mission in the presence of the guard since her life was already in danger. It was best to prevent the addition of any more trouble.
"Fine, excuse us," the prince ordered his men fearlessly. He was confident that the small stature of the young men before them meaning they could not fight against him alone and win after his years of training he has undergone in the border land camp.
The guards hesitated because they had all witness the young men show great amount of strength despite how many if them tried to move them into the dungeon.
The prince felt it was an insult to his fighting abilities for his soldiers to be scared that he could not protect himself. He quickly sent them away to save his ego.
