Capítulo 38: Chapter 2373 Calamity Tribulation
Within the Myriad Beast Fusion Color Heaven, the skies turned gloomy as thunder and lightning snaked around the dark clouds.
"Hmm, I sense the aura of a tribulation,"
Far above the clouds, the 4 Venerables looked down at their board.
None, of them, expected a tribulation to begin to brew at this moment.
"Not just any tribulation it's a Chaotic Tribulation," Star Constellation remarked.
This was not part of the plan.
Tribulations weren't something one could just call down whenever they liked.
There was a saying amongst Gu Immortals: "A tribulation is hard to pass, difficult to avoid, and impossible to call."
Of course, that last part was not entirely true, tribulations could be triggered on command, but it was more due to attracting them towards someone rather than calling it.
For example, back in the fight for Crazed Demon Cave, Giant Sun had hit Fang Yuan with a killer move that attracted tribulations based on the fortunes within.
But Giant Sun did not create those tribulations, nor did he command them to attack Fang Yuan, they were like opposites of a magnet and attracted each other.
The introduction of a Chaotic Tribulation made things tricky.
"Is this all part of Reckless's plans or a part of the other Venerable's plans?" Fang Yuan thought to himself.
He was making a huge bet, winning Reckless's Grotto Heaven was only one of the prizes, according to what Reputation Gu told him, complete access to Reputation Gu's powers would be a huge gain!
"There are also some secrets that are locked, and I cannot tell unless you are proven to be capable enough."
That's when Fang Yuan came up with this whole plan, but it couldn't be completely biased against the other 3 Venerables, so he had spent many days planning.
He proposed game after game, but the Heavenly Dao could sense the unfairness towards the other Venerables.
After months of planning, he came up with: "A 4-way battle for Reckless Savage's Grotto Heaven, it's perfect it will require, strength, wisdom and, tons of scheming but it has no inherent advantage for me."
Reputation Gu's intuition told her that the game was feasible.
"But are you sure master? If you lose, the consequence would be that you can't touch the Myriad Beast Fusion Color Heaven, and most importantly the winner will gain the full support of I, Reputation Gu."
Fang Yuan smiled: "I'm sure."
"Hmph, no matter what I will win." Fang Yuan gritted his teeth.
At this point his willpower was being tested, an obvious growl was escaping his stomach.
With how much he had sped up the time within the Sovereign Immortal Aperture he was not only incredibly hungry, but he could sense that his Chaotic Tribulation was approaching soon as well.
Seeing this Spectral Soul grinned sadistically.
He had just received word from Heaven's Will that Fang Yuan was not only nearing his limit but also approaching his first Chaotic Tribulation.
Under normal circumstances, he could prolong it but this time he had chosen not to spare any resources and was willing to take the gamble.
"Just a little more time," his gaze was pensive on the board.
Meanwhile, the winds were beginning to grow violent, they were equivalent to a Rank 5 Killer Move.
Of course, that was nothing to all the Rank 7s and 8s, but it was concerning.
"A tribulation? Is this all a part of Reckless's arrangements or another Venerables?" Lu Wei Yin pondered.
The 3 camps were currently in talks about progressing to the next stage.
Both the Great Love Alliance and the 10 Great Ancient Sects wanted to begin now, but the Northern Plains were delaying under the premise of 'recovery'.
But all the parties present knew that this was just an attempt to allow them to build some strength.
After all, from the state of the battlefield on the trial grounds, it would appear that they had quite a big fight, with at least half of the native's forces.
The air around them was beginning to turn grave and the tribulation in the sky was growing stronger.
A hint of chaos was beginning to emerge.
Shen Shang sensed it first: "Quick! Inform Lu Wei Lin that we need to either leave or do the final trial immediately this is no ordinary tribulation, if I'm not mistaken this is the legendary Chaotic Tribulation, I recognized that energy anywhere."
Chaotic Tribulation!
"Senior Shen how bad is a Chaotic Tribulation that with all the strength gathered you would be apprehensive?" Wu Yong asked as he and the other Rank8s present had never encountered such a thing before.
Only Shen Shang who encountered the Black Fire would have some ideas regarding the strength of a Chaotic Tribulation.
"Heh, don't even bother if a Chaotic Tribulation descends and there isn't a Venerable to support us, we might as well just give up and die!"
"I spent countless years under the effect of the Black Fire alone and it drove me into periods of insanity. I had to use Emperor City, the strongest place of Human Path, to heal myself and that fire was just a small portion, from what Fang Yuan told me the one that descends from the tribulation itself is much bigger and it disintegrates a Rank 8 to dust with no way of revival."
If even the Refinement Path Venerable could not bring someone back from the dead, it showed the strength of the fire.
It is well established that even Rank 8s that died could come back from Fang Yuan's Human Sea!
"To think that even Lord Fang Yuan could not revive the dead from the Black Fire." Wu Yong and Shen Cong Shang were shivering at the thought.
It truly cemented Fang Yuan's might in their minds as only a Venerable could block the Black Fire and even then, it wouldn't be easy.
"But if the Black Fire is like a tribulation, then what path Dao marks would it leave behind," Wu Yong asked.
This question left Shen Shang stunned: "Truly Wu Yong is a genius amongst men, unfortunately, I do not have an answer."
"A Venerable is already an invincible existence within the world what more could they gain? Truly what more?"
The Gu Immortals didn't ponder this question for long as they were still under the threat of a Chaotic Tribulation.
On Lu Wei Yin's end, he received word from the Great Love Alliance HQ.
"Friends, I'm afraid that our discussion will have to end here." Lu Wei Yin bowed his head.
This move shocked all the Immortals present.
"Oh? Why does Friend Lu want to leave," Light Emperor asked.
After all, if they left it would cause the Central Continent forced to leave as well.
Lu Wei Yin shook his head: "I'm afraid you are mistaken friend Light Emperor, it's not that we want to leave it's that you will start the final trial!"
All the Northern Plains Gu Immortals grew outraged.
"Preposterous!"
"How dare they order us around!"
"Hmph, you want a fight baldie!"
Light Emperor released his aura to silence his men, he was particularly incensed about the comment about Lu Wei Yin's bald head.
Because he himself was bald!
What were his own men implying about bald people? Isn't natural for one to grow bald? In fact, what was so good about hair? It prevented one's head from shinning!
These thoughts flashed through Light Emperor's mind: "Friend Lu I apologize for my subordinate's comments," he glared at the one who made the bald comment, "But I must ask why do you think that we should listen to you?"
Again, Lu Wei Yin shook his head: "Not me, Shen Shang. According to him, the tribulation swirling above our heads is a Chaotic Tribulation!"
All the Immortal's eyes widened.
"Hmph, can your words be trusted?" Light Emperor snorted.
Lu Wei Yin chuckled: "Whether you trust it or not depends on you but if what I say is true, we won't even need to fight to decide a winner, because we'll all be dead!"
He added: "And just a reminder even Lord Fang Yuan couldn't bring someone who had died to the final attack of the Chaotic tribulation!"
That last point made all the Gu Immortals nervous, especially Light Emperor.
He was revived using Giant Sun's Blood Sea but if even Fang Yuan's Human Sea couldn't do it did, he really have that much faith in Giant Sun's incomplete Blood Sea?
At that moment Hei Lou Lan interrupted: "Let's get it over with then."
She stood up and headed for the Giant Black Totem in the center of the Trial Ground.
Her abrupt agreement had stunned all the Immortals present.
"Hei Lou Lan you can't make this decision on your own!"
"That's right Lord Light Emperor has to agr…"
"Ok go for it." Light Emperor agreed without hesitation.
He understood Hei Lou Lan's character and knew that she was confident in her own strengths.
In such a short time she had persisted through so much opposition to finally reach a stage where she could influence the plans of Venerable.
As Hei Lou Lan walked towards the Totem many scenes flash in her mind.
From the day her mother died, to the grueling training that she underwent, to being Fang Yuan's subordinate.
There was never a point in her life where she was free, never a point where her life held any meaning, her only reason for living had been to avenge her mother.
But after, meeting Fang Yuan and going through his journey as a mere side character she realized that even her revenge was meaningless.
More than revenge her body and soul craved conquest, she wanted to be known, respected, and seen!
Hei Lou Lan began to recite poetry: "The mountains are tall, and the road is long, from life to death one is all alone, through valley high and stormy rains I will walk under the moon's gaze. My eyes are set upon the end, Hei Lou Lan is no longer a step."
As she finished her poem her hands touched the totem causing it to start levitating.
The totem's arms began to bend and its eyes glowed with life.
"After one Million years it's finally begun,"
A voice boomed throughout the Heavens and 5 Regions.
Causing even the Venerables outside to frown.
Within the Myriad Beast Fusion Color Heaven,
The whole landmass of the Myriad Beast Fusion Color Heaven began to crumble away.
The land began to use into the Upslope Road, Downslope Road, a flash of light blinded the entire Grotto Heaven and a giant spiral staircase was all that remained.
It had merged the entire Grotto Heaven and Upslope Road Downslope Road!
Creating a new Secluded Domain of Heaven and Earth!
The 4 Venerables stared intensely at the changes within. The shock was on plastered on their faces.
"Reckless Savage actually upgraded a Secluded Domain of Heaven and Earth!" Giant Sun said in shock.
"Mhm, I can feel it, it's fully comparable to a Rank 9 Gu maybe even exceeding it." Star Constellation was the first to begin deducing its strength.
"No, it's stronger than a Rank 9 it's a half rank 10!"
The totem began exhibiting changes as its arms and legs began to gain more mobility and form.
Soon they began to look more human.
The totem began to shift and change into the shape of a well-built man.
It was Reckless Savage Demon Venerable!
Or more precisely the Myriad Beast Fusion Color Heaven's Heavenly spirit!
"To think that even in death Reckless's last obsession resembled himself," Zhan Bu Du shook his head.
The Gu Immortals had all been transported to the middle of this new Upslope Downslope Road.
"Welcome, potential inheritors I am the last desire of Reckless Savage Demon Venerable!"
The Heavenly spirit began to talk to the Gu Immortals present.
"My desire is simple; I want to see someone ascend to the top of this new Secluded Domain of Heaven and Earth, The Path of Ascension, Road to Descension!"
That's it? Climb this stairwell?
Everyone thought that the challenge was too simple.
The Heavenly spirit noticed the contempt in their eyes: "Hehehe, do you really think it's as easy as it sounds."
He then pointed to one of the Rank 7s.
"You!"
He had pointed at the Rank 7 Fang Pi
"Try going up."
Fang Pi was cautious and nervous he looked to Fang Gong and the other Rank 8s who nodded their heads for him to go.
It seems they had tacitly agreed to let him be the guinea pig.
Fang Pi could only sigh and pray for the best.
He hesitated right before stepping onto the upward portion of the slope.
Behind all the Gu Immortals were silently watching to see what would happen.
Taking one last deep breath Fang Pi raised his foot and placed it down upon the Ascension.
Everyone waited with bated breath.
One second
Two
A minute
Nothing happened.
Fang Pi then relaxed a bit and attempted to place his Second foot forward.
But as his Second Foot came down, he was sent flying backward past the Gu Immortals and into the Descendsion where he kept tumbling until the mid-way portion way, he finally managed to whole his ground.
Fang Pi was panting like crazy, but he was just relieved to be alive.
Seeing this the other Immortals frowned at the Heavenly Spirit.
"Maybe he was just too weak?"
One of the Gu Immortals from the Northern Plains said.
Hearing this the Heavenly Spirit chuckled: "Why don't you give it a shot?"
The Rank 8 Gu Immortal was slightly nervous but thinking of how he was a Rank 8 and that it didn't even kill the measly Rank 7 he felt that he should at least be able to take a few steps if not at least the first.
Within seconds of stepping on the Path of Ascension, he was sent tumbling back though he managed to catch himself nearer to the start of the Descension.
