One might think that knowing that the guy you started going out with is a werewolf is already a lot, or an intimate secret, or something, right?
Well, wrong.
At least that's what I realized while Lucian and I were sitting in another expensive restaurant and he ordered five random things without even properly reading what those were since as a werewolf he didn't care about the taste at all.
He is the alpha of a pack, he works with other werewolves every day – isn't knowing that he is a werewolf just as basic information as knowing what someone's nationality is?
…
Wait...
Since he mentioned that the expensive food is wasted on them since they don't have as many taste buds even in the human form, does the same apply to other things too?
"...do you see the world in black and white...?"
..ah...
AH!
Crap! I asked it out loud!
I panicked once I saw Lucian's brows raise up and he looked at me, tilting his head like a confused puppy.
"Not black and white. Yellow, blue, and gray – humans can see three primary colors, our vision is based on two just like wolves and dogs."
He explained with a shrug, thankfully completely unbothered by my rudeness.
"I guess that means that you see the world in more vibrant colors than I do, mine is really mellow - for human standards that is.."
He added with a smile.
"Eh...? But that means that you don't actually know how beautiful your eyes are?!"
This was so unbelievable to me that I gasped, actually stunned.
"Hmm...?"
He furrowed his brows and turned to me, putting his elbow on the table and resting his chin on his hand with an excited smirk.
"No, in fact, I do not. Please do tell me."
His smirk grew into a full-blown smile.
"Ah... um..."
Oh, crap, what am I supposed to say now?
"They... they are like emeralds... really beautiful and... and..."
How am I supposed to talk to a guy who had been on the covers of magazines before? Well, they were all business magazines but still!
"Emeralds you say... I see. Do you like them?"
Lucian asked as the waiter arrived bringing him his first order and he straightened his back so it could be placed in front of him.
"...I love them... I wish I could watch them all the time..."
...so embarrassing...!
What a tease, making me tell him all those compliments!
I hope I didn't sound too stupid...!
"Thank you. That could be arranged."
He giggled while gulping down the dish in two bites without even looking at it, too focused on me.
"Oh, and by the way..."
He added and...
"!!!!!"
Before I noticed, he leaned in towards me and nuzzled up to my neck.
"...I really like your smell. It's calming."
He whispered and his breath tickled my ear.
"!!!!!!!!!"
DEAR GOD, DID I PUT ON PERFUME TODAY?! OR AT LEAST A DEODORANT?!
I panicked, clenching my arms tightly to my body, getting drenched in cold swea...
Sweat...?
NOOOOOOO! HE CAN SMELL THAT TOO!
"Umm... sorry if I made you uncomfortable."
Lucian pulled back and apologized with a worried expression.
"Since you can see more colors and praised my eyes, I thought it would be appropriate to compliment something about you that I experience in an enhanced way."
He tilted his head apologetically like a puppy that did something wrong, and it calmed me down a litt...
...
...enhanced...?
OH NO! NO! NO! HE HAS A BETTER SENSE OF SMELL TOO!
"...noooo... I must reek of sweat...! I'm sorry for disturbing your meal like that...!"
Before I realized it, I cried pathetically and was pulling away from him, bowing my head repeatedly, doing a scene that had definitely brought way too much attention to the two of us than necessary.
"Alexis."
"!!!"
The way he said my name made me flinch – it sounded like he was hurt, and I raised my head instantly to see what was wrong.
"Did I do something that made you think I was lying?"
He asked and his shoulders slumped – if he had a tail, it would most likely do the same.
...ah...
...wait... that's right...
He said that he liked my smell because he wanted to make me happy...
And he looks so adorable when he's worried...!
"...is... is my smell really not bad...?"
Even so, the thing that was bothering me the most for the moment was my smell, after all, the self-consciousness of a girl made fun of for being sweaty back in middle and high school was not erased that easily.
"Bad...? But I really like it though..."
…!
Or... maybe it was...?!
I fidgetted nervously and felt my face getting hotter – the way he had said it, it sounded as if he was apologetic but did not quite understand why would I be anxious about it...!
Was he doing it on purpose...?
Was it some sort of werewolf trait that allowed him to call forth a puppy-like aura the moment he got himself in trouble?
Either way, me blushing and fidgeting like that definitely didn't help his confusion, so I pulled myself together and dragged my chair back to the table.
...yeah... when I was pulling back before I did that together with the chair...
...yes, I realize how stupidly over the top it must have looked...
"I like your voice too."
H-he changed it!
He changed the compliment so that it would not bother me!
What did I do to deserve this guy?!
…
Hold on.
That is a good question, actually.
"Alexis...?"
Seeing me straighten my back and looked at him furrowing my brows with concern made him blink in confusion, worried that he actually made me anxious again.
But, now that I think about it...
There is something odd going on here – I mean, I could have to pin it all to the love at the first sight and what-not, but...
Wasn't that too convenient...?
"...hey, Lucian..."
I said slowly.
"Why do you like me...?"
...I had so many questions but my brain overheated and they came out as that single childish one instead...
