“I wouldn’t know, you haven’t shown meany.” With that Jamie checked the apartment, left the loft and locked the door, keying the elevator to go downstairs.
“You can’t get up here without a key?” Bull stood next to Jamie as the car made its way to the first floor.
“No, you can’t and I’m on the second floor with all the windows alarmed. Can you say the same for your place?” Jamie walked out the side door. 7
They took Interstate one-ninety-five; then Route 35 and were in Asbury Park forty five minutes later. Bull knew Jamie had left his car in the Paramount parking lot so they went there first. He got out of Bull’s Suburban.
“We’ll have to go ask the cops for my key. They didn’t give it back to me last night. It probably got mixed up with someone else’s stuff but I brought my spare.”
Jamie began to take Mischief’s things out of Bull’s SUV.
Bull looked at the Nissan Versa.
“Could you have bought a smaller car?” Bull’s voice dripped with sarcasm.
