Enzo’s home

Friday afternoon

“You and your mama have been so kind.” Genevieve sighed as she sat at the kitchen table. “I don’t know what to say.”

“Mama is nosy, just like the other relatives. You’ll be so sick of Del Montes by the end of this evening, that you might retire to your bedroom and refuse to come out for a week,” Enzo teased.

“I love your mother. I’m sure I’ll love all of them. From what I understand, your aunts, your uncle, and your mama raised all of you boys.” Genevieve took a bite of her sandwich and a sip of the homemade chicken noodle soup Phina dropped off while they were in Trenton.

“That’s right, they’re all guilty as charged, and every Friday night they’re up in all of our business just like Bobby Michaels.” Enzo scooped up his own soup.

Genevieve turned to Gray. “Bobby Michaels, isn’t he your boss’s husband, the one who lost his parents in that horrible accident?”
