Ken shook her head. “On our way here, my partner was taken, I think by people who work with the monster who did all that screwed up stuff. I have to find him.” Speaking of which, “You didn’t see a black SUV hanging around town, did you? It might have had two white guys in it.”

Riolo raised both eyebrows and stuffed the money into her purse. “Everybody in town either has a truck or an SUV. If I saw it, it wouldn’t have seemed suspicious. Heck, I didn’t see anything weird in town. Just those houses.”

Damnit. “Well, this is where we part ways. I can’t take you with me, and trust me, you don’t wanna go. If you’re not planning to head back, go to a major city. He doesn’t seem to set up shop there. Too many witnesses. And I’m sure you can find a safe house to put you up for a while, especially if you tell them about how your information saved a bunch of people.” Even if Ken did do all the work. “Good luck.”
