Being part of the world
[A couple of days later] [Monday - 7:00 a.m.]
As always, Doryoku got up early and did the usual thing, brushing his teeth, making a light breakfast, and getting dressed for the UA without making any noise.
But not everything went well, since his mother woke up early and caught him with her demonic brush, since according to her women did not like badly groomed boys.
Putting that aside, Doryoku walked through the streets, took the train, and arrived at the academy being greeted by a cool, gentle morning breeze.
Then there was the little white cat from last time, which has gotten used to receive Doryoku whenever he arrived.
"Ugh, you just make me feel more guilty buddy" Doryoku said as he stroked the little cat with a bit of guilt at not finding anyone yet to take care of him.
Doryoku also tried Oboro and Hizashi, but apparently both did not get along with cats, you could say that they were not compatible because they had too much energy.
As for Aizawa... He was not even interested in having a pet, he said something about hair, vaccines, food and all kinds of valid arguments, but without heart.
The little cat didn't even seem bothered by this, he just let Doryoku pet him for a bit and then left as usual.
"Maybe he doesn't need my help after all" Doryoku said, laughing slightly at the little animal's disinterest, and then walking towards his classroom.
Doryoku walked straight to the 1-A class of heroes and like always sat in his seat next to the door.
Shortly after, Last laser arrived, which greeted Doryoku as usual and began to arrange his documents.
"Laser-sensei, sorry if I disturb you but I have to ask you a little favor" Doryoku said raising his hand with respectful and calm tone as always.
"As long as it's nothing weird, I can hear your request" Last laser said also with a calm tone and looking up slightly from his documents to look at Doryoku.
"You see, I have a certain problem with a classmate, and I wish I could solve it by talking to her" Doryoku said in an explanatory tone making Last laser understand instantly.
"I see... A teenage conversation huh? I get chills just thinking about it... Don't worry I have to hand over these papers after all" said Last laser hurrying his work a bit so as not to have to be part of that moment.
"Thank you very much Laser-sensei" said Doryoku quite grateful to be heard.
"It's not for that much boy, besides this also serves as training, after all you're learning more about yourself" Last laser said with appreciation seeing the notable changes in Doryoku while he was nodding with a slight smile.
About 15 minutes after waiting, Yoshino arrived and looked around her slightly confused that she didn't notice anyone.
"Good morning Laser-sensei, I hope you have had a nice weekend" Yoshino said with a calm and respectful smile as Last laser nodded in approval.
Yoshino looked in Doryoku's direction and simply have a kind smile, which felt quite cold for Doryoku.
Last laser finished with his documents shortly after, leaving the class and both classmates alone, a moment that Doryoku had to take advantage of to clarify everything.
But when Doryoku wanted to walk towards the girl, he froze for a moment.
'Nervousness?' Doryoku thought a little surprised to see that he felt a little nervous.
This about feelings was still new to Doryoku, recently he learned that people felt sad when it rained, strange for him since he always enjoyed the white noise generated by the rain and the cold weather of it.
The only times that Doryoku felt nervous were normally exams or his mother coming home late, for fear of failing and not being able to help her mother or that something bad would happen to her, but never because of the damage that he could or did to someone like now.
Doryoku took a deep breath to calm his nerves as usual and simply got up from his seat and walked over to talk to Yoshino.
"Sakurai-san, can I talk to you for a bit?" Doryoku said approaching her a little and with a respectful tone as always.
"What? You didn't learn your lesson and you want me to insult you again?" Yoshino said with a more aggressive tone and showing his true personality as no one was around.
"Actually, I wouldn't want to go through that again" Doryoku said with a lot of denial and causing Yoshino to click her tongue in annoyance.
"You didn't seem too upset about that last time" Yoshino said seriously looking for any sign of lying on Doryoku.
"Before I didn't really feel anything, but now... I don't want to feel bad" said Doryoku in an explanatory tone and taking Yoshino a bit by surprise.
"Pfffff, what are you a kid? You almost look like a grade school brat" Yoshino said with a slight laugh at Doryoku's strange behavior.
Doryoku sighed wearily and decided that it was best to get to the point.
"I wanted to know, why does my presence bother you? I thought about it a lot and I still don't remember anything bad that I did to you, but I still don't understand many things about feelings" said Doryoku with a calm tone and a little worried about what he could have done.
"It seems little to you to have humiliated me in front of so many people and with a calm expression as if nothing happened!!" Yoshino said suddenly exploding as she got up from her seat and pointed at a surprised Doryoku.
"I know your kind, they think they are the best and that the world must be at their feet just because they are lucky!!" Yoshino said quite angrily getting closer to Doryoku and touching him with her index finger quite hard.
"I'm not interested in your luck, I'm more than sure how horrible you are internally, and of course 'I have to humiliate the defenseless girl and then be kind and try to help her to look nice'!!" Yoshino said getting more and more annoyed and making Doryoku feel pretty bad.
"The way they see a hero is the most important and thanks to you people will only see me as the defenseless girl who couldn't defend herself!!" Yoshino said seriously, hurling more insults and causing Doryoku to feel worse.
"I don't even want to know for what you used the money you fucking idiot!!!" Yoshino said touching Doryoku's chest again with her finger and ending her attack.
Yoshino took her finger off him again waiting for an answer from Doryoku while he was still quiet.
Doryoku straightened his body again and taking a deep breath he said.
"The money... and the reason why I seemed so calm, was because I really wanted to win, so I could help Okā-chan" Doryoku said with a calm tone and taking Yoshino by surprise.
"I... I don't know how to be someone normal, I don't know how it feels to be looked at from above by others, not because I didn't experience it, but because I couldn't feel it" said Doryoku with a quite calm expression and a bit sad for not understanding this situation.
"Still... I'm sorry, I don't know what to do to apologize, but you don't have to forgive me, I just want you to not feel bad about my presence and you can feel calm" Doryoku said with a deep bow in apology.
Yoshino clicked her tongue feeling a bit guilty, she did not expect the boy in front of her to be so strange, honest and much less so understanding despite not knowing what he did.
"Seriously what the hell is wrong with you, what kind of personality are you supposed to have?" Yoshino said in a calmer tone as Doryoku looked at her curiously.
"If what you say is true and my instincts do not fail me, I forgive you, I am not a damn witch I am just quite explosive" Yoshino said apologizing a little too and making Doryoku breathe a sigh of relief and smile slightly.
"From what happened at the festival I have proof of that" Doryoku said, smiling nervously as he remembered the insults he received during the festival break.
"Now go away, I don't want to spend any more time with you if I can't even understand you" Yoshino said walking towards her seat and going back to her business.
"Actually, I'd like to know more about what you said about 'the way they see a hero'" Doryoku said with what seemed to be great curiosity and a desire to understand.
"You won't leave me until I explain it to you, right?" Yoshino said with blank eyes seeing Doryoku's attitude of a four year old kid.
"I could leave if I bother you, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable" Doryoku said with a respectful tone and causing Yoshino to let out a tired and annoyed sigh.
"Tch, come closer I'll explain before I regret it" Yoshino said clicking her tongue as Doryoku took a seat next to her and moved away from her a little so as not to disturb.
"Mmmm, you see, it's pretty simple but let me put it into words that you understand" Yoshino said with an explanatory and calmer tone as Doryoku nodded with understanding.
"What is the most important thing for a hero to do?" Yoshino asked Doryoku curiously waiting for an answer.
"Saving people even if it means putting their lives at risk" Doryoku said confidently at first but then a bit reluctantly about the last part.
"That's right, that's what a true hero should do, but tell me, are heroes recognized by the number of people they save?" Yoshino asked nodding in agreement with Doryoku while he was thinking about her question.
And the answer was... No, heroes are not recognized for that, in fact it is difficult to find that kind of information, with Endeavor's record being the only one generally known and causing Doryoku to open his eyes in surprise.
"There it is, what matters most is how the world sees you, if the world thinks you are a murderer you will be, all doors will be closed and no one will even ask you if it was true, the world decides what you are based on what they see at first glance" Yoshino said in a more serious and rather crude tone about how the world works.
"In itself it is complex to be a good female heroine, if I do not have a tight suit or good attributes I am destined to be in the background, that's how it is, no matter how positive you are" Yoshino said with a tired sigh as Doryoku continued thinking deeply.
"I was lucky too I suppose, my quirk is good although not very impressive, but at least I can defend myself and I am quite beautiful without looking like a damn bitch" Yoshino said quite proud as she remembered with annoyance the stereotype of a heroine in a tight suit.
Doryoku was still silent, to which Yoshino looked at him with annoyance and said...
"Hey, didn't you want to understand?" Yoshino said with quite annoyance seeing that Doryoku was ignoring her.
"You're... right, I don't even remember having seen a list with the superheroes that save people the most" Doryoku said somewhat downcast as he couldn't remember or argue anything and having a strong blow of reality.
"Of course I have it, a common hero even if save a thousand people every day will only have that, a fairly standard salary and nothing more, unless he dances for the media" Yoshino said without lying to Doryoku in any way and without softening the knock.
"Still, I'm not interested in being part of that world" Doryoku said quite confidently making Yoshino laugh slightly at how stupid it sounded.
"And what will you do if the whole world is against you genius" Yoshino said without taking Doryoku's innocent words seriously.
"I was never part of the world or did I care what it think, and still I'm sure Okā-chan and Oboro would never abandon me, I don't need anything else" Doryoku said with enough confidence causing Yoshino to be a bit surprised.
"You are too innocent, if you play the creative against the world only mediocrity awaits you almost certainly" Yoshino said keeping her posture quite seriously.
"I never wanted to be a great hero, I'm only here to know more about myself and help Okā-chan to spend more time with her, the rest is only secondary" Doryoku said with a serious tone making Yoshino quite upset.
"Don't you get it idiot, you must always have dreams, greed and even some evil to be successful, be part of the world, that's all a normal person wants!!" Yoshino said getting quite annoyed with Doryoku's disinterested and conformist attitude.
"I already said it before, I don't know how to be a normal person" Doryoku said still quite sure making Yoshino just sit without wanting to speak more.
Suddenly, Yoshino approached Doryoku and looked at him carefully and very closely and then said.
"Let's see tell me, what are you feeling now?" Yoshino said with a serious tone as she was very close to Doryoku's face.
"I guess uncomfortable, although I have to say I'm curious about the irises in your eyes, they are shaped like a flower, is it difficult for you to see?" Doryoku asked quite curiously upon noticing Yoshino's strange eyes.
"You are definitely a rarity in the world, and that hit me right in my feminine pride" Yoshino said stepping away from Doryoku resolutely and saying the last in a low voice.
"I want to be successful ok? To have a lot of money and to be quite happy, that's not bad" Yoshino said without changing her point of view, but finally understanding Doryoku a little.
"Of course it isn't, and everything you said is true, but not all of us have happiness purely in the amount of money, although I have to admit that without it it's just a fantasy to be completely happy" said Doryoku being quite realistic and making Yoshino agrees for once.
"Go away I don't want to keep talking, I'm sick of talking about the world" Yoshino said with quite annoyance when talking about such an unpleasant subject.
"By the way, whenever you want you can talk to us, I'm sure you will at least get along with someone" said Doryoku getting up from his seat with a calm tone.
"Joining your group of freaks recognized by all heroic students, that would send my reputation straight down the drain" Yoshino said with complete denial at the idea.
"You can say that you do it out of kindness, that will help you a lot and it will serve as an apology, also, you can go or not go if you want, it is your decision to be part of that world" Doryoku said with a slight smile as he sat on his seat.
"Hehe, not bad, you learn very quickly" Yoshino said with a slight smile at Doryoku's plan, and then went back to business.
And with all this, the class continued normally for the rest of the day.
