It had been a long, eventful day and everyone returned to their rooms for a welcome nap after the exhausting hike.
Dinner was served rather early in the dining room of the main bungalow. It was still only a quarter past six. The guests were dressed casually, as was expected in the home of Bob Tang.
The table was laid with the mansion’s prized Wedgwood fine china, and its vintage silverware was presented in all their glory.
“Oh, this is majestic!” Jackie cooed. It was an impressive table and earned deserving praise.
The housekeeper commenced service and expertly balanced a platter of hors d’oeuvres as she served the guests.
“Aren’t these *pai tee* cups [1]? How clever to use them in such a way,” Jackie exclaimed, studying the filling of mixed diced avocado, fresh herbs, and succulent prawns.
