To say I was happy would have been a giant understatement. As I looked over the two new powerhouses I'd gotten and the beautiful maiden, I couldn't help but think of how screwed this hive spire and any of my future enemies would be.

Kizaru looked as tall as I had expected, and was dressed in his usual admiral clothing of yellow with a white overcoat that hung from his shoulder. His usual bored expression was on his face, and if someone who didn't know him would have seen him, they wouldn't think him too much of a threat, but I knew better. With his training, haki, and his devil fruit the pika-pika no mi, he was a monster on the battlefield and since I wasn't sure if this world had magic that could counteract his intangability then he could be even more devastating than imagined

Alucard wasn\t quite as tall, though with his red coat and glasses he looked like quite the sight, though he gave off an air of challenge, or was it of danger? I couldn't be too sure since it didn't affect me, but from the way Asara was looking at him, it was clear she saw him more like a beast, though her opinion of sword maiden was greater.

I had to agree since the sword maiden looked to put it simply, beautiful, and regal. With her blindfold and white robes along with her blade, she was like a warrior princess or priestess. I'd watched goblins slayer so I knew she was a gold-ranked adventurer and could use the blade she carried. She was called sword maiden after all.

"Ho, off to battle are we." Kizaru's voice sounded just as it did in the anime with the slow drawl and bored-like sarcastic tone.

"A fight." Alucard grinned, showing off his fangs. "I'm always up for a fight."

"Well you're in luck," I said. "This fight might last for hours or days."

I was planning on farming the spire, but not forever. When I had sufficient power I would turn my attention back to the empire and the rest of the world and after that the various planes that existed. It would be an escalation of growth, and of conquest.

Asara walked over and began to speak with the sword maiden, who I was going to have to give a name. Simply calling the sword maiden wouldn't do as it was more of a title than a name.

After a bit of talking, and a promise to let Alucard in on the fun as soon as we arrived at the spire, I sent my new summons back to storage with a smile before I hopped back onto Rath and towards the hive spire. With these new summons, especially Alucard and Kizaru, I was confident we could easily handle this spire. No monster without any special means would be able to harm Kizaru, and as for Alucard? Well, every enemy he killed would add to the undead army, as blood was the currency of the soul, and if I was correct my summons kept all their powers even if this world did not have access to their particular type of energy or follow the same rules as the world there came from

"I see you took a liking to the sword maiden?" I asked.

"She is quite the woman," Asara said. "If she had been born in Larra then I have no doubt she would have been able to join the ranks of the talon riders."

The hive spire came into view a few hours later and it was just like Delorn had said. A pillar that came to a point rising up from the ground and pitch black in color, though as we drew closer I noticed the holes at its sides and the creatures close to them. They had no defining traits and each seemed to be unique from another. Some looked like giant insects while others were humanoids with fur. It was like someone was taking pieces of beasts and sticking them together to create these monsters. Some looked downright stupid. I saw one creature with four legs dangling from its back. It was obvious they had no use apart from making him look like an untalented teenager's art project.

"What manner of horror allows such nonsensical creatures to be made?" Asara asked.

"I have a feeling we'll find out," I said. "But not until the time comes to destroy this thing. For now, we farm."

I found a hilly position that would let me look over at the land around the spire.

"Alright Asara, you can join if you wish," I said. "But you don't have to if you don't want to."

She nodded and I summoned everyone I'd brought along for this hunt.

Lilah, Leone, Gible, Domino, Zombieman, Rathalos, Migi, Blair, Twice, Little Oars Jr, Esdeath, 2B, Indominus Rex, Megumin, Gaping Dragon, Morrigan Aensland, Sword Maiden, Kizaru, Alucard.

The land shook and when my summons surrounded me, I sent a single command out. A command to fight, to kill the creatures that came from the spire, but not to destroy the structure itself.

This was it. As I glanced at my summons, I somehow knew this would be a turning point. That things would change from the squabbles of simple kingdoms to something far larger. To empires and entire worlds. As I grew so would my chance to summon stronger entities, and boy there were plenty out there.

Asara must have noticed the faraway look in my eyes.

"Your majesty, what's wrong?"

I took a deep breath. "I'm not sure, but the simple times, this fantasy ends here. What comes next will be something far greater. I can feel it. I'm right aren't I Eden?"

[Yes.]

I smiled and took a seat as my summons approached the spire, an odd feeling of melancholy overtaking me. Being a king, ruling a kingdom, it may not seem like a simple thing, but I'd always known that things would change and that I would have to seek further heights. It was the nature of the system in truth. Escalation. Gain levels to gain tokens to gain more levels and repeat until I reach the pinnacle. Perhaps that's why I'd put it off, and why instead of just hunting at the start I'd helped a kingdom and become a king. It's not like I had needed to. It would have been so much simpler to just come here from the start, but I guess my desire to live out a few fantasies had overtaken me, wanting to be the hero and all that, even if I didn't want to admit it. Wanting a harem, and a life of action and adventure. Perhaps when I was done here and was at the pinnacle I could still do that.

Asara took a seat next to me and placed her head on my shoulder.

We watched as my summons hit the tide of monsters head-on.

Like before, Lilah, Leone, Domino, and 2B fought back to back, and a hail of bullets tore the beasts around them apart as blades swung in the wind, lopping libs off or piercing into flesh and carapace alike. Blood sprayed around them as more and more charged their position, but they did not falter in their hail of bullets and storm of swords.

Zombieman seemed to be striking up a conversation with Alucard who was firing round after round into the horde of monsters. Perhaps I'd get him to go level zero and announce the return of dracula, but for now, this was fine. Attacks hit both of the deadmen, though neither seemed to care as they regenerated easily enough. Zombieman with his flesh and Alucard with his blood-like body.

"Yasakani no Magatama"

Kizaru was raining a hail of light from the sky that pierced down into the enemy. He moved with flashes of light and I only caught glimpses of him even though I was using my bird's eye view ability which let me see a wide area around myself from above as though I were a bird flying above. I couldn't move my body, but I had Asara as a guard and the monsters were busy with my summons, not to mention Migi was diligent and would inform me of any approaching enemies.

I saw Kizaru disappear in a flash of light and reappear with a long blade of shining light in hand. With each swing of his blade, monsters fell and any attacks that struck him simply passed through his intangible light body.

Esdeath had her own little area and had summoned an army of ice soldiers, which might have taken her longer before, but with the levels she had, she'd managed to summon what looked like at least a few thousand of them. The ice soldiers tore through the monsters, though a few did fall, but Esdeath then did something I'd never seen before, not in the anime or manga. A white cold mist flowed from her hands and whenever it touched a shattered soldier, the pieces of ice would bind themselves back together and the soldier would rise to fight once more. It seemed that her levels were paying off.

Gible was an odd sight, to be honest as I'd expected him to evolve by now, but I had a sneaking suspicion he was putting it off because he didn't want to change. If I ordered him to, he would evolve, but in all honesty, it didn't matter that much in the grand scheme of things. If he wanted to stay a gible then I'd allow him to stay a gible. He was sticking to his classic moves of steel claw and flamethrower though as I watched he opened his mouth to the sky and shot out an orange ball that split into many more blasts. Draco meteor. Well, that was a surprise.

Rath was flying up above with Blair and both were acting the part of aerial artillery while Megumin played the part of ground artillery. She was once again on the back of gaping dragon and I wondered if she saw it as a pet. The large monstrous dragons kept all monsters away from the tiny explosion wizard while Megumin sent blast after blast into the enemy.

Rex was weaving through the monster and a trail of corpses littered the land behind him.

Morrigan, who I hadn't seen fight before, was toying with the beasts and sending blades and other constructs of darkness at them all while floating leisurely next to the sword maiden. For a moment I was worried the maiden wouldn't be able to handle the swarm around her, but then Oars came barreling in, and all was fine. His machete literally cleaved through swathes of the enemies.

The green giant stomped around, causing havoc, and no matter what he did monsters kept coming at him.

That was something I noticed quickly. These monsters had to be stupid as no smart monster their size would willingly charge at something like Oars.

"It's frightening," Asara commented as she gazed out at the battlefield. "The power you possess."

"This is just the beginning," I said.
