"I never pictured you as blonde," the dancer stated with a tilt of his head.
"I look like I have no hair," he pouted.
"Then…" Taemeng smiled that small smile that really shouldn't make his body warm, "You look good bald."
Laughing, Shun shook his head and went to the makeup chair when he was called. There, he joined Kaiden who did not have contacts on, but had earrings and was already in his outfit. His eyes trailed down to the white button up with an embroidered crane on the collar and the necklace adorning the popular trainee's neck. Then his eyes went further down to see the navy blue slacks that looked way too expensive.
"Do I look alright?" Kaiden questioned looking at him from the mirror.
"You look good."
"Thanks," Kaiden laughed and apologized to the makeup artist, before keeping his face straight.
Shun chuckled and did the same as the other makeup artist worked on his face. When he was finished, he was given blue contact lenses and he stared at the makeup artist. She stared back, before it dawned on her that he did not know how to put it on.
"I am sorry, Xiong Shun," she apologized and Shun just stared at the container.
"Xiong Shun!" The stage dresser called out and he quickly joined him, still holding the colored contact lenses.
He was dressed and patted down before being sent away to another person. Rings on his fingers, he was maneuvered to go sit down and wait until everyone was done. So, joining Heeang- who was only told to get his makeup done and hair fluffed, he stared at the containers for his new eye color.
"Hm? Shun, why haven't you put them on?"
"Dunno how…"
"Oh! It is easy! Just make sure your fingers are clean, pick it up and put it on the tip of your finger, press it against your eyeballs, and voila!"
"Voila! That sounds dangerous! Besides, how do you know about it?" Shun questioned and the young boy laughed.
"Back when I premiered, I had purple contact lenses. They were the circle ones so my eyes look bigger," Heeang proceeded to say, "Go on, Shun. I am an expert. I will walk you through it and if anything, I can do it for you."
"Wait… you premiered with a different group?"
"Yup. It didn't last sadly. Tends to happen with a lot of groups, but I am sure this one will last as long as I am in it!" The boy grinned and Shun couldn't fight the laugh out of his lips.
"So… your contacts…"
"…"
"…"
Shun really would trust a stranger over Heeang after the stunts the boy pulled. So shaking his head, he did as the boy stated. He opened everything up, washed his hands, stared at the floating blue colored film floating in the liquid, and…
He couldn't do it.
Heeang laughed and reached for it, but Shun shook his head and picked a contact to place on the tip of his index finger. It was shaking and he moved the digit closer to his eyes, but they automatically shut.
"Try opening your eyelids up with your other fingers," Heeang watched with glee, chuckling to himself.
Shun frowned at him and his finger pressed to his eye, but when he blinked, the contact fell off his lashes. It happened a couple of times and he groaned upset with himself. Dunking it back into the liquid, he stared at it as if to bend them to fly into his eyes perfectly.
"Shun," Taemeng joined him and Heeang, "Do you need help?"
"He's not-" Heeang started but Shun interrupted.
"Yes!"
"Huh?! You didn't let me help," the boy frowned and Shun just stared at him with a face that said, 'Damn right I don't trust you!'
Taemeng also held a face at Heeang that caused the boy to huff and walk away from them. Once the boy was away from their bubble, Shun watched as the dancer cleaned his hands before placing the contact lens at the tip of his finger. When the finger neared his eyes, Shun was blinking so much, he was surprised it didn't fan the contact off the dancer's finger.
Taemeng stared at him for a moment, before pulling Shun's lids apart and once he was sure the contact will stay, he removed his hold. He watched as Shun blinked over and over trying to adjust to the strange feeling of film on his eyes. Quickly doing the same to the other side, Taemeng stepped back and stared at a platinum blonde blue eyes man. He had to admit, Xiong Shun looked good with lighter colored hair.
"That… was so easy when you do it," Shun smiled and thanked the dancer.
Taemeng smiled back and Shun held back a groan when the hairdresser called for him again. He didn't understand why he needed to get his hair dyed again. It smelled and the chemicals made him feel sick.
'I wonder if the witches magic smell like this. It is terrible! I think my nostril hairs are burning!'
Once his hair was dried and fixed, Shun just stared at himself. Silver hair and blue eyes, pink lips and eyeliners, light blush and flawless skin… This was magic. He never looked this… this…
"Gege!"
Shun turned to see his little friend as a pinkette and green eyes like his cousin. Ping looked like a mini version of that idol prince that he lo- *cough* and Shun gushed seeing how handsome his friend looked. Grabbing and picking the boy up, he heard the sweet laughter, one similar to his sister, against his ear.
"You look so handsome!"
"Thank you!" Ping grinned, "Oh, your hair! It matches you, gege!"
"You calling me old," Shun joked and pinched the boy's nose, "Respect your elder."
"Yes, die die," Ping laughed and he pinched the boy's cheeks laughing along.
Once everyone was done, Shun had to admit everyone looked so good. Who would have thought some makeup, hair change, and clothes could change one's look so much!
'Wait! Was that why mother always told me to clean up and sent the maid to me?'
His mind went back to all those times he was fussed over and felt a sense of dread. If getting makeup and being told what to wear and all that… He was going to hate it just as he hated being dressed back then.
'Why was being an idol so similar to being a prince,' he frowned, 'Besides the extreme dancing and singing… wait… OH MY GOD! Maybe those tutors were for singing and dancing! I am just a prince again but a different title! Witch! I hate you!'
Ping held his hand and he shook himself out of the past. Squeezing the hand, he shared a smile with his friend before the wall they were in front of moved. Shun still felt like the witch's magic was involved.
'Yes, technology was advance here but… yup. That witch is involved. This was their fault anyways!'
They stepped forward and greeted the mentors, the recruiters, and the host.
"Welcome contestants. We are getting close to the end to find the next idol group. Kaiden, please tell us how it is so far for you living here with all the challenges," The host stated.
"It had been hard, but we all manage well and have gotten close to one another," the popular trainee stated and glanced at his fellow trainees, "I think we have grown as a team and we are ready to show you what we have."
"We are all excited to see," the host nodded, "Xiong Shun. You are the leader. Tell us your experience."
"Well, I had never been a leader, but I had a lot of help from our strong dancers and singers: Kaiden, Taemeng, and Ping. They helped us a lot and I agree with Kaiden. We are ready to show everyone what we could do."
The mentors and recruiters nodded.
"I thought you were injured?" Ms. Fire brought up looking at his knee, "We were told you had to sit out."
"I am healed and doing better. I promise," Shun smiled as charming as he could and saw Ms. Fire's lips twitched.
"Please get yourself ready. Remember their place depends on you," the host stated looking at the camera, "Who will continue toward becoming part of an idol group and who will return home? Start the countdown."
Suu Jin was watching the show as his makeup artist did his face. Sitting in his trailer, he was excited to see how far his cousin and Xiong Shun were doing. He had not gotten the chance to watch the past episodes, but from the way Ping and Shun was interacting, he assumed they had made up.
The lights and beats began, and he found his lips curled as he watched Xiong Shun, silver hair and blue eyes singing and dancing as the lead. His eyes trailed over the satin collared shirt, where the navy shirt was unbuttoned a few to show the collarbone. The man was wearing black tight slacks like the rest of the group, but each had a symbol on them. For Xiong Shun, the silver haired trainee had a lotus flower and Suu Jin laughed softly.
"Sorry," he straightened his face again and tried not to grin when he saw his little cousin preforming. He still remembered Ping barely 4 watching him, learning from him, and even trying to dance and sing when he did.
Now, watching his dear cousin, he felt a sense of pride seeing how far the young boy had come. Once the performance was over, he watched the trainees bowed and the host spoke. The voting was opened and Suu Jin opened the app, prepared to vote.
"Let's start," his manager called out, "Suu Jin, everyone is here. You don't need to doll up anymore. Let's go."
The idol prince nodded and quickly put in his vote, before heading out to the stage for his own performance.
Back at the competition, Shun was exhausted. He just wanted to lay in a deep soaker bath filled with bubbles and cry. His muscles had been screaming at him ever since he began this road to idolship. He had thought it was just because he had not used his muscles in such ways for so long, but…
'I feel like I am beaten up every day… Isn't this supposed to get better?' He inwardly whined, but tried to keep it off his face.
"Great performance!" Producer Ryoshi called out clapping, "I felt the fire and you all did very well!"
"I agree," Manager Bon nodded, "You only had 2 days to learn the song and dance, right? I am sure 1Luv would be proud."
"1Luv members Pengu and Yanny had many interviews to do, but they found time to watch your performance," The host stated and moved his hand to the screen, "What do you think of the contestants?"
The screen to their left flickered on and the face of the two idols smiled.
"Wow! What a performance!" Pengu grinned, "That was better than us, huh Yanny?"
Pengu threw and arm over Yanny's shoulder, having the carrot top laughing.
"I agree. I feel like it isn't our song anymore."
"No! We could never beat you two, Senior Yanny and Senior Pengu. You two are the best!" Heeang, the ass kisser called out quickly with stars in his eyes, "No one compares."
Shun rolled his eyes with a grin and nodded in agreement, along with the other trainees. Taemeng who was beside him, looked over at him with a bland stare and Shun laughed. Ping, who maneuvered his way to stand beside Shun's other side, wrapped around his arm and leaned against him with a pleased sigh.
"Hm? We are still on stage, Ping Ping," Shun patted the boy's head.
"Gege," Ping looked up to him and Shun felt he saw the twinkling of stars on those eyes, "I know mama and baba will be super proud of us. Ah Jin too."
"Ah Jin…" Shun whispered and he could feel his cheeks warming.
"Mm," Ping grinned, "Wen Dong too."
"For Wen Dong," Shun pumped his fist and Ping did the same.
"We have to go, but good luck everyone! Always do your best!" Pengu and Yanny waved and the screen cleared.
"Thank you Pengu and Yanny for giving our contestants some hope. Now," the host looked over at the judges, "Before I announced the results, do you have any thoughts on who will be leaving, Choreographer Minji?"
"It is hard. Everyone had danced and sung well. I have some ideas of who may return home, but I don't want to say."
"You don't want to look stupid if you're wrong," Producer Ryoshi laughed and patted his friend's shoulder, "I agree. There are maybe two I can think of because their singing was not as stable, but I am curious to how the global fans are going to vote. I already put in my vote."
"Who did you vote for?" Producer Jie questioned and Producer Ryoshi shook a finger before him.
"Neh, Producer Jie, I will not say."
"I will," the female producer stated, "My vote is for Taemeng."
