The fathering inside the large tent was not like any gathering Alvin had seen. Here, an appraiser and mediator were sitting in the centre of a tent, with another representative having a list of items for sale. Anyone could transact anywhere in the tent. Most people prefer to transact in plain view of the representatives in the middle, as they served as deterrence.
Anyone could go up to the appraiser to identify any item they had, which would cost 5 pounds to 50 pounds depending on the level of the item. And they could have the mediator preside over the transaction if you agreed to pay a percentage of the revenue.
As Alvin had observed, in their respective tents, the forces sold items, charms, books, weapons and other consumables, bar a few items they displayed for the purpose of exhibition. Here, Beyonder ingredients and sealed artifacts were being sold.
Alvin browsed through the list and found enough ingredients for sale to create 4 new Hunters and upgrade two of them to Provokers. There appeared to have been a set of materials for Sequence 7 Pyromaniac, but they were crossed out, indicating that they had been sold. There were no other ingredients of the Hunter Pathway available.
Alvin bought only a few ingredients for now. He planned to circle back wearing a good to buy the rest of the materials. He needed plenty of Beyonder subordinates, be it for his promotion to Sequence 4 or for what comes after. The Hunter pathway was one of the best, as he planned to become Sequence 0 in this pathway eventually.
He then browsed around, hoping to find something that caught his eye. He did find the True Root of a Mist Treat, a matured Manhal Fish's eyeball, goat-horned blackfish blood, and a Healing Rock, which was all the main ingredients for a Spectator potion and half of the main ingredients for the Magician and Doctor potion.
Cheryl was still a little away from digesting the Clown potion, but Naomi was almost done digesting the planter potion. Her graduation was in three weeks, and Alvin wanted to gift her the Doctor potion by then if possible.
As soon as he walked outside, he met Kevin who pressed a box into his hands. Alvin took a quick peek, and paid him 1400 pounds.
"Happy transaction. Even though I did not make any money this time, I am quite sure I will in the future" said Kevin smiling.
"Of course. I now see you are a trustable and well-connected individual. We will definitely work together" said Alvin shaking his hand.
Kevin then walked away, to greet someone else, and Alvin was left wondering why he felt so relaxed and at ease in front of him. While he always planned on befriending Kevin and using his connections, Alvin felt their relationship directly skipped the standard stage, and they became familiar acquaintances.
"A Beyonder power that influences people perhaps? Definitely not the instigator. Is he a Conspirer?" wondered Alvin, after which he shook his head and walked elsewhere.
Alvin then decided to visit the other tents till the gathering by the next force started, and stock up on charms, ritualistic medicines and such other consumables while he waited.
After he finished his buying whatever he thought would be useful, he went to the side of the tent belonging to the Church of the Lord of Storms, and went to their information selling centre. He had a question he wanted to ask, and he figured now would be a good time to do so.
"State your question" said the person wearing the robes of the Mandated Punisher robes gruffly.
Alvin pushed over 50 pounds and said, "I know of a Beyonder who died at sea, a few day's journey from the nearest land. He had a mystical item on him. I know the location where he fell, and the exact time he fell. Is there any chance of locating the weapon, or guessing where it will end up?" asked Alvin.
"What was the time?" asked the person.
"A mystical item sword" replied Alvin.
"Was it the same pathway as the dead Beyonder?" he asked.
"Yes it was" replied Alvin.
"Well, how much do you know about the corpses of dead Beyonders?" asked the man.
"If you mean the extraordinary characteristics, I know of their existence" replied Alvin.
"Then it should be easy to explain. The seawater exerts heavy compression on anything inside it. The deeper you go, the more the pressure. Hence, Beyonder characteristics are quickly condensed. So there is a good chance that it was swallowed by some deep-sea creature. In shallow waters there exist many creatures like the Piranhas, and goat-horned blackfish that prefer to rip their food open, but in the deep sea, most of the creatures that eat flesh there are bigger than a human body and would probably swallow the corpse whole, and are capable of fusing with the potion" said the man.
"So you think some sea creature swallowed the corpse whole, with the mystical item, and fused with the potion? Since the mystical items and the extraordinary characteristic are from the same pathway, a sea creature probably swallowed it and digested the potion while gaining use of the mystical item?" asked Alvin.
"Most probably. If the mystical item belonged to a different Sequence, it would have probably spit it out as soon as it started digesting the potion, and thus you would get it you followed the ocean currents from the approximate region. But it being from the same pathway, your best option is to find out the common carnivore and omnivore sea creatures in that area during the time, and search for one that shows characterises of the pathway of the extraordinary characteristic it swallowed. Then, track it down and kill it, and pull out the mystical item from its belly. That will be another 50 pounds" said the man.
Alvin thought the information and inference he received from the man was worth it, so he unhesitatingly paid.
"If you want to know the locations of sea creatures, you can purchase the appropriate volumes of book series, 'The Sea Creature Chronicles.' It is a combination containing detailed information on all kinds of sea creatures and their locations in the past two hundred years, ever since the church started keeping records" said the man as he was leaving.
Alvin politely thanked him, deciding to check it out.
