The spacious living room was now empty except for one person.
Bi Fang stood on the glossy elm wood floor, slightly emotional.
The house, complete with a garden, now belonged to him.
"This building was a French businessman's mansion before the liberation. My father bought it and had it renovated. Now, he has given it to you," Lin Chang's voice seemed to echo in his ears.
The renovated mansion still retained the old elm wood flooring, but all four walls had been knocked down and replaced with floor-to-ceiling windows. Rooms were combined by removing the walls between them, and the floors above had been taken out as well.
When he looked up, he saw a dome eight meters high, with a massive branched chandelier hanging from the century-old wooden beams.
Right now, the chandelier was unlit. The only light in the vast space came from the candles on the antique table where they had just had dinner.
Bi Fang didn't know how much the house was worth, but it must be an astronomical figure.
