Vanessa abruptly opened her eyes and gasped for breath. All she could see was complete darkness. She tried to get up, but something was pressing down on her chest, holding her from sitting up from the comfy surface she was lying upon.

These strange and eerie conditions in her half-asleep state activated her amygdala, urging her to escape. She used all of her strength to sit up, pushing the obstacle that was pushing her down. Seeing no way out, she subconsciously began to shriek.

"Aaaaaaaah!" Her scream resounded through the darkness.
