"Can I be open and frank today?" the chaplain asked with no hesitance. His hand rested on his knee, calm and open - the stance of no hidden agenda.

"Yes," Curt agreed reluctantly. Philip's cunning ability to read people and get right to the point caused a raised brow.

"How are you, Curt?" A loaded question. He decided to play it casual, but it did not mean he had to be friendly. At this point he was making advances to his woman. God, listen to yourself. To differentiate was killing him. He knew he was at fault. Not Phillip, not Sam, nor this Turmel fellow.

"Good, thanks," came the abrupt reply. He hoped the man was not there on a social visit. He could not do it, not now.

"How are things at home?"

"Crazy, but they will survive," and he smirked. Get a hold of yourself. You are not ten, Curt McGee.

"They offer up a lot to have a loved one so far from them."

"True." Where was Phillip going with this?

"And your marriage?"
