Capítulo 8: Chapter 8
Artemis drove in the underground road for 120kph, the sound of the wind was loud as it passes through her helmet through her ears.
Before setting off to the HQ, Artemis wear a helmet that was place near the motorcycles.
After some time, Artemis arrived at the HQ. Many employees got off from their vehicle as they park in the parking lot of the HQ, some of them glance at Artemis as she removes her helmet then took the guitar case on her but then they glance back to mind their business.
Artemis enter the underground floor, there she met with a bunch of security guards checking their luggage and their identity. Artemis went to the women sections and place her guitar case on the table and took out the gold card on the pocket of her jacket, also she took out her id that was customize for the employees of the underground.
The underground HQ is stricter and the securities are the number 1 in the country if it wasn't hidden due to illegal actions. The staff greeted Artemis as she walks in the hallway, the whole floor was an open area with vehicles at the sides and many more things such as poster for their quest.
At the center of the floor, there was an elevator for people to come down and up to the building. Artemis push the floor highest floor in the building.
While waiting for the elevator to go up, Artemis mess with watch, tapping her foot to the floor and continuously look at her phone while the whole elevator was quiet, luckily no one was in her in the elevator.
[Ding]
The sound of the elevator opening the door was heard, at the entrance of the elevator was guarded by two bodyguards, wearing suits and glasses as an earphone was attach to their ears.
Artemis leave the elevator as she rubs her wrist, the bodyguard glance at her then greeted her. "Welcome Young miss, Boss is in the office", Artemis glance at them then reply after glancing back "Hm, got it" she replied then walk towards her dad's office.
[Knock][Knock]
"Come in" a young man's voice was heard with coldness on his tone. Artemis open the door; there she saw her older brother working on the computer.
Zachary, the heir of the Stone family also the oldest sibling of six children of the Stone family. Zachery slowly looks up to see who it was, it was his one of his lovely siblings, Artemis, that his Mom and Dad adopted due to Artemis being the child of his Dad's life savior a long time ago.
"Art! I didn't expect you to be early" his cold voice now changes into a heartwarming with British accent as he stand up from his seat then smile as he hug her
"Well, I have to since I can't let that fucker run around" Artemis smile as she spoke, Zachary let out a laugh as he let go of Artemis.
"I heard that you haven't been smoking for the pass weeks, do you need one?"
Zachary asks as he took out a packet of cigarette on his jacket then throw it to Artemis.
Artemis casually catch the cigarette, "Thanks, it was really shitty having to endure the urge to smoke. Fuck I can't even smoke on the campus knowing that there will be kids" she thanks her brother as she complains to him while lighting up the cigarette with the lighter in her hand.
"HAHAHA, aren't you also the same age as them?" Zachary laughs at his little sister's complain, he went back to his sit while he led Artemis to sit on the chair as she places the guitar case down.
"Is it really hard not to curse the whole week?" he asks with a smug on his face as he rest his face on his hand.
Artemis rolled her eyes then leaned on the back of the chair as she moves her leg to make her sitting in crossed leg. "Fucking yes, I was trying not to say a curse word" she looks at her brother with tired expression on her face, while she puffed out the cigarette smoke as the cigarette was on her hand.
"Why though? They're old enough to understand" Zachary leaned in and smile on Artemis. Artemis look at Zachary for a moment then spoke in a lazy manner "Well, I curse sometimes to see their reactions, luckily they don't think much about it and I thought that next week I can freely curse"
"'They'?" Zachery asks as he notice the word, his eyebrows went up in with interest on his eyes. Artemis glance to the side where the clock was then glance back to her brother, "Uh-huh, anyway brother, the document?" she nodded as she asks her brother while changing the subject.
"Right, I almost forgot about that" Zachary blurted out as he scratches his cheek, he took out the documents on his desk and pass it to Artemis.
"It's the document it was given by the informer of his schedule for today and tomorrow, full details about hi whereabouts and the time and date" Zachary finished speaking at look at Artemis with a smile on his face.
"And don't worry, the team will help you when you need it" he added as he lay back at the back of his chair
Artemis took the document and began to memorize the information; Artemis stand up from her seat and look at her brother, she took another inhale from the cigarette and exhale it.
"I'll be going now" she stated while picking up the guitar case as she walks toward the door and leave the room. As she goes to the elevator, she checks the document one more time before putting it to her jacket while the cigarette was on her other hand.
Artemis felt her phone vibrated as she waited for the elevator to go down as it will take a while as she was in the 70th floor. At this time of day, it was normal for a building to went up to 100th floor and the maximum was 150th floor.
Artemis look at the phone while placing the guitar case down and saw it was Belle Thompsons, Artemis answer it as Belle is a mission, normally she wouldn't answer any calls when she's working underground except when it's family.
"Hi Aminah, good morning, I know this might be early to call but are you free tomorrow? Were going to the party tomorrow and it would be fun if your there, oh, and Felicia and the others are coming too if that's your worried about"
Belle voice came through the speaker, she invited Artemis with wryly smile on her face as she explains to Artemis.
Artemis was quiet the whole-time causing Belle to be slight worried and embarrass.
"Uhhh…Aminah?" she pondered as she could only hear silence on the phone call.
Artemis at that was thinking as she smokes, the elevator was filled with smokes that came through her cigarette.
"Sorry, I have somethings to do at home" Artemis nonchalantly denied with short explanation on Belle's invitation.
Belle was embarrassed as she went through awkward silence earlier and it made it worse as Belle was rejected, normally she would just brush it off and accept it since she was quite use of Artemis rejecting her offer.
"No, it's okay! I have to go now, see you in Monday" Belle hang up the phone hurriedly, her face was beetroot from embarrassment as she leaned her face on to her knees as she sits with her knees up.
"Ughhh….that was so embarrassing" she mumble to herself as she recall the interaction earlier.
Artemis who was hang up without letting her speak look at the phone for a second then put her phone back to her jacket, looking indifferent.
Artemis puff out a smoke of the cigarette before putting it out on cigarette ash bag pouch. It took quite a while for the elevator to go down to the main floor.
From the main floor to 20th was an office in disguised as to not let suspicion, in there the 'Office' was full of staffs who helps the employee for their quest in their computers, dealing information and such.
[Ding]
The sound of opening the elevator door was heard by many staff and employee, normally people would mind their business if they heard the sound of the elevator door opening however, Artemis use the one elevator for VIP or exclusive members. Of course, people would look at her as she is famous in the underground industry.
Artemis turn a blind eye on the stares that she gets and continue to walk toward the enclose parking lot where she parks her car for future quest.
Artemis walk toward her car, it was grey Mercedes-AMG GT, the same one that she uses earlier. Before entering the car, she put the guitar case on the trunk.
As the information said in the document it says that Freddie Madron had a meeting at the illegal auction at 3:00 pm with his co-worker and his brother.
'Illegal auction, huh' Artemis thought to herself as she taps the steering wheel, before she starts the car, she opens the drawer and a piece of ear chip, she places it behind her ear, inside the drawer there was full of pistols.
Artemis drove across the street from the auction, parking at office parking lot with a 15th floor small office building.
This building was old office studio where only small amount of people working, perfect for the quest.
Artemis leave the car and went to the trunk to get the guitar case, closing it gently before walking toward the office.
The location of the car wasn't far from the building as it only takes a couple of walks to get to the entrance.
As Artemis keep moving forward, she pass by a lamp post, before she passes the lamp post, she quickly removes her mask and swiftly wear glasses.
Luckily no one was there to see her but there's a CCTV camera at the entrance where it can see Artemis's movement however, the team already hack the CCTV making it to change how the way she looks before she took of her mask.
[Security Camera, All clear]
It was a woman's clear voice was heard by Artemis
[Got it]
Artemis short and cold voice was emitted to the ear piece of the woman though as she felt chill on her body, she looks at her supervisor then nodded.
'This is my first-time being Foster's assistant! I could see how others are used to her attitude' the woman thought as she looks through the monitor where it showing the footage of the CCTV
Artemis enter the office and was met by the receptionist; it was a lady in her mid-30's. the woman smiles at her then spoke, "Hello Miss, what can I do to you?" she greeted Artemis with a warm smile, her smile was even wider as she saw her outfit and Artemis's expensive watch.
"I'm here because I'm new here" Artemis responded to the lady's question with a sweet voice with a caring smile on her face, unfamiliar from her usual calm and cold voice and expression.
[Pfftt!!]
The woman who hacks the security camera spit out her coffee that she was drinking when she heard Artemis's voice, bewildered and surprise to what she heard and saw, thinking that she might be hallucinating
Artemis who heard the sound could only raise a question on her mind as she focuses on deceiving the receptionist lady.
"Ah, you must be Bethany, am I right?" the receptionist voiced sound as if she remembered someone and proceed to ask Artemis after that.
"Yes, that's me" Artemis replied without hesitation with a smile on her face while lying. 'Huh, that was fortunate' she thought to herself without changing her.
The receptionist looks at her for a while before speaking, "You look different from what I remember" she stated.
"Well, faces change easily at this time day and beside my face didn't change that much is it?" Artemis let out a chuckle and smile at the receptionist, her action was breath taking that receptionist was dumbfounded for a moment before she nodded while saying yes.
"Let me check something real quick" the receptionist expressed her uncertain thoughts on Artemis and quickly open the computer.
The moment the team heard the receptionists voice, they quickly hack the system of the computer and immediately input Artemis profile to the original's profile.
When the receptionist clicks the profile, she saw Artemis's photo. "Huh, it seems that I'm wrong. Well, I won't hold you up anymore and you could go now but is that your guitar?" the receptionist asks as soon as she notice the guitar case that Artemis holding in her hand.
"Ah, yes this is mine, to be honest my hobby is playing guitar and hoping I could bring it to the office" Artemis shyly respond to the receptionist as she glances at the guitar case and shyly scratch here cheeks, looking embarrass.
"Bringing that will be fine but you mustn't play guitar while in working hour" the receptionist asserts Artemis with a slight smile on her face.
"I will" Artemis answer before she said goodbye to the receptionist and proceed to walk to the elevator, as soon as she left the reception desk, her face quickly changes from shy and happy person to calm and cold person.
Artemis click the highest floor in the elevator, the elevator stops at the 3rd floor. It was a middle age man wearing an office suit who stop the elevator, the man looks at Artemis with a look of surprise in his face.
"You are?" the man asks as he step inside the elevator, Artemis glance at him and smile at him. "I'm new here sir" she replied, the man looks up to Artemis while saying "Such a waste of your height, you should be a model instead being here in these crappy office" the man clicks his tongue as he ridiculed the company.
Artemis could only smile at the man, later on the man left at 5th floor. Artemis look at her watch and it's already 12 pm, Artemis already ate lunch when she took a quick lunch in the headquarters.
[Ding]
Artemis walk out the elevator and walk towards the side of the floor where the stairs leading the rooftop is. Luckily no one was in the floor, Artemis took a bar of snickers in the table.
The rooftop was lock, fortunately Artemis got tactical pocket knife with her. Artemis neatly took the pocket knife in her back ad began to unlock the door.
If it wasn't a padlock key and if it was electronic keypad lock, Artemis would hack the lock easily.
Artemis opened the door quietly and went upstairs, arriving at the rooftop, Artemis slowly close the door at lock it securely.
Artemis lay down the guitar case and began to take out the sniper, she moves the guitar case and the sniper at the edge of the rooftop.
Artemis took the spiked feet in the guitar case and attach it to the sniper; she neatly places the sniper on the ground at the middle of the railings.
Artemis lie down in a prone position as she holds the sniper on her hands and the rear grip on her shoulder.
Artemis position could exactly see the entrance and exit of the building of illegal auction and so as the roads that was near the building. The building was just across the street from this office. Artemis glance at her watch, it's already 12:25pm.
Artemis look at the entrance of the building through the scope of the sniper, the sigh of the entrance door was seen by Artemis as she patiently waits for her target.
