Capítulo 7: 7. Weapons 2.
"Yeah, there is an abyss there along with some other stuff. Probably would freak most people out. That doesnt work on me though." A whisp of something did try to approach me when I looked but it fled away pretty fast.
"Some kind of terror inducing illusion or something?" I ask.
Valerie and Hephaestus are both shocked. Her eye was indeed cursed as punishment for stealing the first fire. Since then nobody could look her in the eye without feeling dread or disgust. Not even gods.
"Anyway." I pull out a scroll from my pocket. "Do you have these supplies?" I ask handing it over.
The list has things like kunai, shuriken, throwing knives, gloves with plates over the back, rolls of thin wire, caltrops which are spike like weapons you sprinkle on the ground usually covered in poison, senbon, a ninjato, a tanto, and some various weapon holders and pouches.
Hephaestus looks at the scroll in a slight daze.
"Well I'll be back in a bit, behave Ryan." Valerie says with a grin before disappearing.
I just stand there and wait patiently.
"Can you really see my eye?" Hephaestus asks a second later ignoring the list.
"You can take off the eye patch and test it of you want." I tell her.
Her slightly tan hand reaches up and grasps the eye patch before pulling it back.
Sure enough, it's just a black abyss, with some red cracks around the edges.
The whisp of whatever tries to attack me again however nothing happens. It seems to instinctively fear the rinnesharingan.
"Got to admit, it looks pretty cool. Can you see out of it?" I ask calmly.
"Eh? You really arent frightened?" She asks.
"No? Anyway we should probably get back to business." I offer pointing at the scroll.
"Ah! Right. Let me see. We have some of these weapons, however they arent very popular and usually only people who come from the eastern countries use them. The pouches will have to be made new though." She says covering her cursed eye once more.
She leads me to a particular area which has things like samurai armor, katana, and various weapons that I can recognize.
She starts picking up weapons and writing down prices on a clipboard.
Honestly I would love to have her forge me some of the swordsmen of the mist blades, however, I'm wary about others getting thier hands on my things. Even if I somehow got a vow from her about not spreading my weapons around, she could still use the information to improve her own weapons, things like Samehada which are sentient blades would be roaming around and I dont want that. Even the executioner blade can restore itself using the blood of enemies.
Nope it's best I save it for my asura path to create. However I do seem to have an eye for weapons as I can immediately find problems or quality issues just by scanning the items with a simple look.
Seems Hephaestus however was giving me quality goods.
"Do you also have any items for weapon maintenance?" I ask.
"We do, usually however most people just bring the items back to us to be restored or purchase new gear." Hephaestus says.
"I would rather not have my equipment rust and I dont have the funds to pay for replacement items or new gear. I didnt think Valerie would insist on paying for me." I explain with a frown.
"I see well follow me, I have to put in an order for your pouches and gloves, I can have one of my familia members wrap up these weapons too." Hephaestus says.
Not all of her family work as blacksmiths, there are other occupations too such as leather workers.
I get some curious looks while she instructs her family members and orders my leather gear and pouches.
"Alright Ryan, they should be done in an hour or so. Come let's have some tea in my office." Hephaestus says leading me towards her office.
It's a nice looking office with a comfy couch and chairs, there are a couple of fancy looking weapons hanging on the walls and she has a nice looking wooden desk with a bit of paperwork on it.
"Sit down, the tea will be here in a few minutes." She says with a warm smile.
I plop down on the couch since there isn't much else to do until Valerie gets back.
"You know I'm surprised, most people come in here asking for special weapons, custom gear, magic swords, or golden armor." She says with a chuckle.
"I do have special weapons I want crafted however, I don't want people having access to my gear. I'll have to make them by myself." I explain.
"Oh? How interesting are you sure we don't have what you want to make already?" she asks skeptically.
"Do you have swords that can regenerate or are sentient?" I counter.
The pulls her up short. "Are you saying you have weapons that self repair and can think for themselves?" She asks in excitement.
I shake my head. "No, I have the manuals to make them however like I said before. If I gave them to you to build then others would end up with weapons like mine. Not going to happen."
Hephaestus was the greatest blacksmith of all time, however she had never heard of sentient weapons. Growth weapons sure, however sentient? No. As for weapons that are self repairing, well that is hard to make and highly irregular. There was a better chance to build weapons that were extremely hard to destroy.
She of course had a sentient flame of her own. But even she doubts she could make a sentient weapon.
However she also knows about secret techniques, and what they mean to people. She had her own techniques, such as the growth weapons and nobody else could make them.
"You wouldn't be able to make them properly regardless as they require a specific metal which I'm pretty sure only 1 person in this city knows how to make. That would be me. Of course some metals could probably swapped out to make them better but I dont have the knowledge for that. Even then I dont have the equipment yet to make it." I explain which only makes the goddess more eager.
