Movie Night

"Fenris, my darling, what have they done to you?" Hela asked with horror as she found the carcass of her long-dead companion.

"I don't like this," Fenrir proclaimed. They were sitting on the sofa watching the next installment of the Marvel series, Thor: Ragnarok, where they've spent the past three days straight doing nothing but going through the comic book stories like candy.

It turned out that Sleipnir had snuck in a TV into Fenrir's living room and neither had noticed until the other day. After spending a good few hours hooking up the right cables, Hyeon successfully connected to Festr Castle's Disney+ account, something he had no idea they had during the whole time he's been working there.

This was a nice distraction to the insanity he was going to face eventually. Right now, Hyeon just wanted to enjoy the moment. "Why don't like you like this? It's popular with humans."

Fenrir was holding him on his lap with his chin resting on the top of Hyeon's head. Whatever the reason for this sudden clinginess, Hyeon wasn't opposed to it.

"That's not my name."

"Not gonna lie, Fenrir is more difficult to say than Fenris."

The god was getting visibly offended by the movie. "I'm not my sister's pet. Her name is Hel, and she doesn't look like that."

Hyeon tried to reason with him that it wasn't real. Then again, he believed Norse gods were just a part of mythology half a year ago…

"Fen, it's just a story inspired by the real thing." This was a new nickname Hyeon gave him. He seemed to like it. "Hel doesn't have animal blood, does she? I don't remember reading about that in your family tree book."

Fenrir scrutinized the scene where Hela resurrects her dead Asgardian army. "At least they got the part with her being the Goddess of Death correct," he mumbled. "And no, she resembles a human…mostly. She rules Niflheim, the Norse land of the dead."

*Mostly?*

They continued watching. Hyeon accidentally cheered for Thor, something he couldn't help since the God of Thunder was one of his favorite Avengers which pissed Fenrir off. The wolf smirked at the parts where his 'uncle' was beaten up. Sometimes, he'd ask questions about the technology or the scenes that showed modern human cities. His eyes sparkled, commenting how much everything changed compared to a thousand years prior – Festr Castle was all he's known throughout that time besides Sani's terrible storytelling.

Seeing someone laughing, who was either sullen or serious, was wholesome. Hyeon wanted to show him more than just movies – would he like amusement parks or shopping at North America's largest mall? What about learning how to drive, seeing a musical in New York, or riding a Ferris wheel on a pier? The bucket list was endless.

*I want to get him out of here, but how?*

He still had some time to think of a way.

When the credits rolled up the screen, Hyeon yawned. The time was lost. He had no idea what day it was. "How are the films so far?"

"It's okay," Fenrir looked away sheepishly.

Hyeon knew that was his way of saying he enjoyed it. He leaned back on Fenrir, letting his head rest on the man's broad chest. To someone else, it didn't look comfortable but for Hyeon, it was the best place in the world.

*I don't want to leave without him,* was his last thought before falling asleep.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nammi was smothering him. Literally. It was a rude awakening to be suffocating on black fur. Hyeon rolled over, spitting the cat hair out of his mouth. Fenrir must've tucked him into bed after sleeping on him.
"Nammi, what the hell," he lisped, picking at his tongue because he could feel the lone hairs. She stood up and hopped over Hyeon, trying to make him pet her. Her meowing was persistent.
"Do you want oatmeal? I thought you've been satisfied lately from hunting demon souls," he commented. Nammi rubbed her body along his arm, clearly wanting something. He wished he could understand her like Sani or Haruma could. "I don't know what you need, girl."
Hyeon sat up in the giant bed, feeling the other side. It was empty. Ah, that's right. Fenrir mentioned that he'd be gone in the morning. His stomach growled.
"I guess I should get breakfast." Hyeon changed into clothes that were more formal than his usual track pants and sweatshirt – tight, black slacks and an oversized striped shirt, tucked into the waistline. After fixing his hair, he wondered why he felt the need to look decent.
As Hyeon was putting on his socks, Nammi wouldn't leave him alone. She kept trying to swipe his hand away with her paw from tying his shoes. "Really, what's with you today? I'm just going to the kitchen. I'll ask for oatmeal, too."
Hyeon weaved through the maze of hallways, leaving Fenrir's side of the castle. His soul bond was on his heels. First Fenrir and now her? Why were they so clingy–
THWACK!
A fist made contact with Hyeon's mouth. His head snapped to the side. The force of the hit made him crash to the floor. He tasted blood from his cut lip.
"I gave you warnings, intern. So many warnings. But what do you do? Haruma is now your best friend and you're offering your body for Master's protection. I heard through the grapevine that you don't have to do your duties anymore. Did you think we'd be okay with that?"
Imoogi and his gang looked down on him. Everyone had glowing eyes, ready to activate their inner animal except their leader. The dragon spirit resembled any other normal person.
They were out for blood.
His blood.
